The car only has 35000 miles on it. The engine misfires constantly when giving gas especially if your going up hill and there is more load on the vehicle. After I had $5000 worth of work to fix the problem at a Cadillac dealership. They couldn't fix the issue so they came back and said that we needed a new engine. We told them over and over again that we don't think it's the engine but they guaranteed us the new engine would fix the problem. So another $5000 later and still not fixed. The vehicle idles fine, it only happens while driving. The check engine light eventually comes on indicating misfires in 2 cylinders.

I was driving on interstate when the check engine light came on. After having the vehicle diagnosed it was determined to be failure of the timing chain. If the timing chain had broke while operating the vehicle it could have caused a major accident resulting in injury. Cadillac has known about the issue with timing chain failure. They issued tbs bulletin 11340c special coverage adjustment for timing chain wear and extended it to include 2009 Cts vehicles under 120. 000 miles. When asked about the bulletin Cadillac informed me that only certain VIN's are covered under that special bulletin. I believe that Cadillac is being deceptive in their dealings and all VIN numbers with timing chain wear should be repaired at their expense. The information concerning the possibility of timing chain wear was never disclosed by the salesman or the dealership at the time of purchase. Evidently their was a defect in the timing chain components from the factory. The vehicle is currently being repaired at crain GMC 710 s amity rd. Conway, ar 72032 877-302-8551.

Check engine light on. Failed emission testing. Diagnostic testing indicate a trouble code 2008 and recommends replacing timing chains. 74,000 miles.
In late August 2018, at or about 66,000 miles the check engine light illuminated. Car went to a Cadillac dealer for diagnosis and repair. Codes that were read were; p0008 & p0017 indicating a timing chain wear issue. Timing chain was replaced at a personal cost of $2281. 83. The dealer and Cadillac customer assistance center informed me that this VIN # was not covered under service bulletin 11340c special coverage adjustment, which supposedly covered 2007-2009 Cadillace Cts vehicles. This issue could have monumental safety issues if the timing chain were to break while driving, rendering the vehicle and occupants dangerously exposed to a traffic collision. Car 3was in motion when check engine light illuminated.
My 2009 Cadillac Cts showed a check engine light. Took to a mechanic who pulled codes p0008, p0017, p0018 which are all related to timing chain failure. I became aware of tbs bulletin 11340c special coverage adjustment timing chain wear which was extended to include 2009 Cadillac Cts with less than 120k miles (my car has 107250) I made an appointment with local Cadillac dealer who informed me that Cadillac is only covering vehicles with certain VIN's in which mine is not included. They state that the problem was corrected later in the model year with an improved timing chain. Clearly this is not the case. This is a $2000 repair that Cadillac clearly states covers vehicles of the model year but then they don't cover it after looking up your VIN. Here is a link to the service bulletin. Https://static. My car has less then 96k miles and the check engine light came on and it showed codes p0017 & p0008. Gm issues a service bullentin (11340) and later extended it to include the 2009 Cts ( 11340c) for premature timing chain wear. Even though my cars make, model and year is listed under sb 11340c, when you call gm, they say my VIN isn't included. Obviously, my car which year is listed should be covered and gm should repair under this sb. It is the exact same issue the sb was issued for. Gm is scamming their customers and there needs to be a recall for this issue. I read thousands of people complaining about the same issue, and all that needs to happen is for the htsa to require all the 2009 Cts that had to have this issues repaired at their own expense while gm reaps the rewards of each car that they have a known engineering issue.
Car has failed emission testing for 2 consecutive years since I purchased it. After driving for the better part of a year I took it to a dealer in 2018 and explained that check engine light comes on and off persistently. They tested emissions and said it passed. Again in 2019 it failed emissions again and the dealer provided a diagnostic test which indicated that time chains needed to be replaced. Estimate for repair $3900. 00. In short problems have existed for approximately 3 years. This complaint is correct from previous filing number:11174923.
I purchased my vehicle in April of 2016 and it ran fine. But as of late I have been experiencing some major problems with the functioning of the vehicle. To date a "service all wheel drive" illuminates on the dash as well as a "service stabilitrak" which causes the check engine light to illuminate and the engine to reduce power. I was on a highway where the speed limit is 65 mph and this occurred which almost cost me my life. I contacted my warranty company which was no help so I scheduled an appointment at a Cadillac dealer. I have been researching this issue for 2 months and have found forums online with car owners of gm vehicles experiencing the same issue. I have spent days reading the outcome but no one could say what caused the issue or what was fixed or corrected. The only thing everyone agreed upon was that said issue should be a recall to properly diagnose the problem. I have an appointment with a Cadillac dealer in the next week but feel they will not be of any help but have no choice at this point.
The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Cts. While driving 50 mph, the speed decreased without warning, as if the brakes had been depressed. The vehicle came to a complete stop without warning. The contact was able to accelerate the vehicle by applying pressure to the accelerator pedal. Furthermore, the check engine light illuminated and the air bag light remained illuminated and flickered continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 114,720.

The contact owns a 2009 Cadillac Cts. While driving 40 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that the check engine code needed to be reset and the timing chain possibly needed to be replaced. The check engine warning light was reset, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Cadillac Cts. While driving 40 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was eligible for repairs under a customer satisfaction campaign related to the timing chain. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated while driving various speeds, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing chain failed prematurely. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. Tw.
The check engine light illuminated and dealer diagnosed problem code as p0008 pertaining to the timing chain. I was then told that the timing chain was stretched and needed to be replaced for a cost of approximately $2200. Vehicle is well-cared for and has 83,800 miles on it. According to other complaints made to NHTSA, a number of people have experienced premature timing chain wear with this make/model. I called gm to inquire about a special coverage adjustment bulletin, issued 11/5/12, #11340c, pertaining to 2009 Cadillac Cts and other vehicles with premature timing chain wear. Even though my vehicle is experiencing this exact issue and presumably would be included in the special coverage adjustment (which extended the warranty for affected vehicles to 10 years/120,000 miles for this issue and requires dealers to replace the chain without the customer paying for it), gm told me that my vehicle was not eligible as only "some" vehicles were included and apparently my VIN# was not one of them. If my vehicle is experiencing the exact issue that necessitated the special coverage adjustment, then why am I not given the benefit of the coverage? instead, I am forced to pay out of pocket for a known premature wear issue? why doesn't the special coverage adjustment apply to all 2009 Cadillac Cts vehicles, not merely "some"?.
Premature timing chain wear. Needs to be replaced for approximately $3000. Check engine light alerted us of the situation. From our research, there is a known issue with this particular gm vehicle. Gm denies there is an issue for our VIN. Timing chains do not to wear in 5 years 66617 miles. It is a manufacturer defect.
The check engine light came on. I took it into Cadillac and they said the timing chains needed to be replaced. General motors announced a customer satisfaction program 10287 in Feb. , 2010 for premature timing chain wear on 2007-2009 Cadillac Cts. There is obviously a problem with the timing chain wear but I was told that mine wasn't part of that. Very early for that to happen with only 70,000 miles on the car. I was told the cost to repair would be $2650. 00.
Check engine light came on in may 2014 at 58,000 miles. My timing chain wore out prematurely. Gm had a recall through July 2013 for this issue (TSB #10287 2007-09 Cts and special coverage adjustment 11340c) that repaired and extended warranty to 10 years from date of original purchase on affected vehicles. I was told my vehicle was not covered under recall. In may 2014, I paid the dealership $1,800 to install a new timing chain kit. In September 2014, check engine light came on again at 80,000 miles and same issue occurred requiring a new timing chain kit after only 22,000 miles on last timing chain kit. Gm and dealership refuse to cover the entire cost of replacing timing chain and deny there is a manufacturer's defect. I disagree and have discussed my issue with two independent mechanics who also disagree. Gm has not included all affected vehicles in original recall and should do the right thing and repair this defect at no cost to its customers. I should not have paid anything for the first or second repair. Gm is putting drivers at risk if timing chain breaks while operating vehicle.
The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning while the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.
In November 2011 I could not take the key from the ignition of my car. Then in 2012 the same problem occurred on about the same month, costing me a little under $900. 00 both times. The problem mention was stated internal failure of engine control module. The module computer chip, went out both times. Now I am having problems with the car shaking after refueling and the check engine light is on. I understand that there was a recall of this model car in 2010. I brought this n 2011 from Ford of rock hill in south carolina. There were no mention of any recalls.
Under 33,000 miles on this car. While driving down a hill I heard a lound clank noise. Car lost all steering and brake power completely locked up. Had towed to shop and they said timing chain is broken and passenger side of engine is locked up with bent valves. No warning what so ever. Check engine light never came on. Now this car needs a new engine.

1. Car stalls/hesitates on right turn. Dealer service could not replicate. Problem started at ownership, and continues at 25k miles. Problem not corrected. 2. Check engine light: car vibrates/shakes standing at idle. 21 days out of service. 3 dealers; four visits. One dealer could not extinguish check engine light. Dealer disassembled engine and made repairs. (exhaust is noticeably louder (not repaired) and the fm radio will not work when the rear defroster is switched on--I suspect a ground wire was broken during the repair (not repaired).
I have a Cadillac 2008 Cts with 24,000 miles on it. The check engine light came on and I took it to my local Cadillac dealer. They stated they could not fix the problem and I had to take it to the selling dealer, don massey Cadillac. Problem: the check engine light came on and I immediately took the car in. My local dealer, allen Cadillac in monroe michigan stated there were two problems. The timing chain was stretched according to then and the cam and crank shaft were defective. The car is currently in service. I was told by the service tech that this is a common problem with the 2008 Cadillac Cts and that dealer had seen over a dozen cars with the same problem. Gm has not issued a recall. When I took the car to don massey Cadillac (selling dealer), there were six other Cts cars in for service at the same time as mine. Although gm is supposed to fix this under warranty, why have they not issues a recall? this is an over $50,000 car with 24,000 miles on it and it will have to have the engine rebuilt. This is the second major repair to this car. This past December, a clip that holds the wiring harness in place snalled and the wiring harness got wound up around the fan and was torn to shreds and had to be replaced. With this many major problem on a car with 24,000 miles (I put on all 24,000 of those miles), what is in store for be when the car has 34,000, 44,000 and beyond miles on it?.
Check engine light appeared on my 2008 Cadillac Cts. Vehicle brought to dealership. Issue appears to be a cylinder head and cam failure. Still not repaired. Vehicle still in shop since 2/26,vehicle has 2600 miles on it. 4months old.
Vehicle lost power when the consumer hit the brakes. The transmission jolts and then the engine shuts off. It has been to the dealer 6 times since January. The dealer tried something different every time she took it in. Manufacturer said she could have a new vehicle if she paid for it. She wanted to get rid of the vehicle. The check engine light illuminated.
