I believe it’s the transmission it’s not changing gears like it supposed to only have 52,000 miles on the dash. It’s have to be defective. No incident.

Driving to work on very busy highway. The engine light and service battery charging system came on, then went to battery saver almost instantly. Radio cut off, heat cutt off and the car cut off in the middle of the highway before I could safely get over. This caused me to fear for my life as the cars behind me barely had time to stop. A hair probably could not have fit between us. I did eventually safely get off the highway, had the car towed to a service center. There was 14 different codes. (low voltage, engine running lean, low voltage and more. Battery was checked and was 95 %, alternator fine. Was told it was the ecm. After looking on google some sites say there is a recall for 2013 Cts some say there is not. There are multiple complaints on this issue and it is not safe. I called Cadillac gave my VIN number and was told there was not a recall. Cadillac/GMC really need to issue a recall before something tragic happens, as it almost was me. Thank god that it wasn't.

I purchased this vehicle is certified preowned Cadillac and during the warranty time I had a transmission issue that was causing the transmission to jerk when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and at highway speeds, it would start jerking nonstop. I took it to the dealer and as per a service bulletin, they flushed the transmission fluid and replaced the transmission fluid. This was only a temporary fix because 30,000 miles later the same issues started occurring again and have gotten worse to the point that you can smell the transmission clutches burning and the transmission overheating, possibly causing the number four piston rings to come apart, resulting in an engine replacement as well. I’ve had to replace engine as possible result, but the transmission problem is still there and it has also caused the check engine light to come on intermediately. This could result in a complete transmission failure, causing a vehicle to lose propulsion leading to a possible accident and injuries. This issue needs to be investigated and repairs or replacement made at the manufacturers expense. . This is a four-cylinder turbo engine and an eight speed automatic transmission. In my opinion, the transmission issue caused my engine failure. There should be investigated and an immediate recall issued.

The vehicle details are as follows: VIN: [xxx] warranty: 30-day coverage for the transmission and engine after owning the vehicle for only 15 minutes, I entered the freeway, and the car began to shake violently. Shortly after, a gentleman driving behind me alerted me that sparks and fire were falling from beneath the car. I immediately pulled over, just before the engine burst into flames. The columbus police department responded to the scene and had to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was taken to an independent dealer, who diagnosed that an unknown sensor needed to be replaced; however, the replacement part was on backorder. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who performed an unknown repair; however, the vehicle made abnormal sounds. Additionally, the rpm and power steering assist failed to operate as needed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

My 2009 has 112,000 miles on it. Over a period of time we started to smell gasoline . Thought it may be simply from putting gas in the car. The smell got stronger. Fortunately we had to have a tire replaced. The tire service owner advised we had a major gas leak and advised us not to drive it far. End result was we had a fuel feed pipe that was leaking. Please know we had been driving our 4 year old nephew and 1 year old niece in the car. Final bill was over $2300. Leaking gas !! how can that not warrant a safety recall? searching the web for information about others having the same problem I discovered others did. Please go to Cadillac forums for starters. Please review and advise. More safety issues for the Cts involved a seat belt that was worn down and a passenger front door that would not open from either the inside or outside. The vacuum pump failed and caused catastrophic engine failure. The vacuum pump was constructed with substandard design and the composition of the parts within the vacuum pumps internal components. The vacuum pump is an integral part of the emissions system, the braking system and the engine. This is not an isolated incident as the replacement vacuum pump, even if replaced, will fail again. The pump should have been designed with a shear pin so the engine camshaft would not have been destroyed.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? brakes , emergency brake , engine overheating , how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? car shut off in the highway while I was with my kids has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes it went in the shop 05/12/22 but problem with car still continued has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes I dont know how it passed due to emergency brake and engine & brakes were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes first engie light came on then car shut off.

Burning smell, traction control, rear axle service along with suspension lights all came on the odometer. Shakes at low idle and wont stay running. Happened this weekend after pulling into the driveway after driving. We scanned code for cylinder 4 misfire. On scanner we had multiple other cylinder misfires but cylinder 4 is a dead misfire. We removed spark plug and found wore. We initially thought to start with replacing spark plugs and cylinder 4 coil. We consulted with customer and agreed to replace all spark plugs and cylinder 4 coil. After replacing we found no change in cylinder 4 misfire. We removed and re installed original coil and re tested. We performed a compression test on cylinder 4 and have 0 psi. We thought possible carboned valve stuck open due to direct injection system. We performed a gdi carbon clean but still no change. We installed a borescope into cylinder to inspect and found what looks like a broken piston or part of a valv we scanned code for cylinder 4 misfire. On scanner we had multiple other cylinder misfires but cylinder 4 is a dead misfire. Weremoved spark plug and found worn. We initially thought to start with replacing spark plugs and cylinder 4 coil. We replace all spark plugs and cylinder 4 coil. After replacing we found no change in cylinder 4 misfire. We removed and re installed original coil and re tested. We performed a compression test on cylinder 4 and have 0 psi. We thought possible carboned valve stuck open due to direct injection system. We performed a gdi carbon clean but still no change. We installed a borescope into cylinder to inspect and found what looks like a broken piston or part of a valve broken and smashed into the piston. Fault is internal engine, would need to tear down and re build or replace engine assembly. My safety was at risk driving 80mph on the highway perhaps engine could have seized or caused problems I’m not able to deal with along with having my infant and toddler in the car.

My 2009 Cts has 67k miles; however, on 02/24/2022 it was serviced at les stanford Cadillac for "timing chain failure" which cost me $3,371,27. Gm published service bulletin #11340c: special coverage adjustment-timing chain wear on 11/5/2012 that was sent to the dealerships explaining that the timing chain could wear prematurely but the document was not shared with the car owners. The make and models listed on the document includes: 2007 GMC acadia and Saturn outlook, 2007-2009 Cadillac Cts, srx, and sts, 2009 Buick enclave, Chevrolet traverse, GMC acadia and Saturn. The special coverage adjustment covers the condition described for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. I sent a letter to the Cadillac customer service complaint department asking gm to pay for half of the repair bill ($1,685) but was denied stating that the special coverage had expired and that my VIN number was not included in the special coverage adjustment document. At that time, I told the reviewing agent that according to my written document all service maintenance has been completed timely by the same dealership, my average car mileage is 5,600 per year so retirees will surpass the 10 years before the 120,000 miles, and gm did not capture all VIN#'s since my car has such low mileage. Therefore, the time period should be waived, and all vehicles indicated on the 11340c document should be considered for reimbursement due to gm's knowledge of the premature timing chain failure even if the VIN numbers are not listed on the bulletin.

Thank these things I feel cadilac should consider fixing due to milage before and after I purchased the cadilac due to the miles before and after purchase. Due to being 100% disabled since 2009, air bag & safety belt system light comes on when I have onstar diagnose the problem they said it has something to do with my seat belt system on passenger side which mind you isnt used often at all and cadilac will not help with the cost and was told by onstar it needs repairs ASAP because it could cause air bags to pop out while driving or not come out during a crash. Im afraid some times driving it. In the 7yrs of owning this I maybe put around 40,000 miles on the car its in good condition. Which lead me to the other problem due to miles. When I purchased the cadilac a few days later the check engine light came on it was the catalytic converter it was almost $800 it has two of them the dealer repaired it. Here the other day I had onstar do a complete system scan and the report showed the converter was in the process of going out again but just hasnt triggered my check engine lite. I was shocked because of the miles I drivewhich is under 6000 miles a yr and I use top grade fuel there isnt any way these converters should be going out they should have lasted for the rest of my life and the cars life I take very good care of it changing the oils on a regular bases and other cares are met but when talk to cadilac they didnt even consider my care and miles driven at all or find out why tne converter is needed twice since I owned the car when most cars never need converter replacement. Im 62 yrs old, these are concerns I have but mostly the treatment by cadilac (gm) the safety part being on passenger side that seat never hardly get used but could cause air bags to open while driving and two convertersin 6-7 years of ownership when most cars never need one and othhers just once. Which tells me theres a problem some where else causing it to not work properly, but it didnt matter.

Transmission cooler line fittings have dissimilar metals causing the threads inside the radiator transcooler to strip and dump coolant into transmission lines and on road along with what was the transmission fluid as well as steam rolling out blocking vision through my windshield going uphill on a dangerously busy road crossing. This is a well known manufacturing defect that has yet to be handled. This could have gotten me and my 3 year old son seriously hurt by sudden loss of power and slick roadways not being able to avoid or brake properly or even steer away from on coming collision. The dissimilar metals are aluminum nut with a mild steel washer backed by a stainless steel washer before it contacts the radiator. This car has 101k miles and has been babied it's entire life. And when I see the 4 brake lines are about to rust out after all the repairs that have already been done. This is just poor quality material and craftsmanship. Easily could have been avoided by simply using a different metal than mild steel between dissimilar metals.

On 8/24/2021 approx 9:45am I returned home from the market as I was parking my vehicle (backing into a parking space) ishift my vehicle control to the rear position and it lock up it was stuck and would not release I was shocked and upset because the front of my vehicle was still in the way of passing vehicle so I tuned my front wheels in as much as I could but that was all I could do I had to keep my foot on the breaks so that my vehicle would not roll back and slam into the truck behind me , I call the dealership fc kerbeck 100 route 73 north palmyra n. J I told them what happened and that I was upset and did not know what to do I still had my foot on the breaks because I did'nt know if it was safe to turn off my vehicle or what after I was disconnected I called back and I was informed on how to safley shut down my vehicle . My vehicle had to be towed to the dealership I found a recall on the issue from general motors June 2014 saying that the driver may not be able to shift the transmission in and out of gear due to the shift cable not begin secured and that it could slip out of the brackets and the driver will not be able to stop the vehicle from rolling resulting in a ccident when I mention this to the dealership they claim that they never had any recalls on thid saftey issue I purchase my vehicle in 2017 so they were well aware that this could be a saftey issue some where down the line but they failed to make sure that the consumer was aware of this issue that they could have better control if something like this should happen I was so up set and shock that this had happen my gears were lock down I could not at that time move my vehicle. My is this information not made available to the consumer when they buy these cars then a few years later when it does ealership blows you off and act as if you are crazy this is a saftey issue that could cause your life.

Seat is adjusting during driving. Moving between presets. Setting position 1 automatically all the way forward. Heat in the seat turning on.

Cruise control will randomly turn off and will be unavailable for a few days then come back. Engine seized up out of nowhere while driving down the road and nearly caused an accident due to it locking up while moving.

Timing chain has been loosened and possibly ready to break. Service bulletin #11340c was issued and gm/Cadillac never contacted me for the special coverage repair. They are now refusing to assist me. While driving vehicle there was burning rubber smell and car hesitated, failed to accelerate while driving on a busy county road in danville indiana.

I was driving my 2018 Cadillac Cts between 50-60mph and I lightly tapped on the gas and the car started shaking and vibrating. Felt like it could be a transmission or a engine misfire. My cars transmission also shifts very very rough kindly jerky which creates a unsafe environment while in motion. This is a consistent issue and with my car and only having 12,000 miles on it I find really concerning. This vibration only happens between 50-60mph and the rough transmission shifting happens as I drive it along with vibrations are coming from the engine which shake my entire car. All services are up to date. Cadillac and gm are both not sure of what the issue can be even though there is a pending class action lawsuit for the same issue.

While accelerating from a stop, my vehicle loses all power temporarily. Throttle modulation does not increase rpm. At times the vehicle will jerk forward and back as if power is being put down then stopped abruptly. One time I had this happen, my lights, gauges, power steering, and engine power all went away. It fixed itself after about 15 minutes of trying to figure out what was happening. Very dangerous and scary experience when this happens on the road.

Everything was really grate no problems. My brakes sounds like there is lots of air coming from somewhere. My key ignition sometimes want turn over or easy to come out. My car was brought in for vibration at alderman Cadillac in meriden I took it in and come to find out, it was the power steering and a motor mount. The dealer asked me if I wanted to take the car after it was fixed although he told me that it wouldn't be safe to drive. I received the vehicle 3 days later and the problem was still there. My steering wheel was also loose and the alignment was off. I took it back to the dealer withing 20 hours to tell them that it was not fixed and that the car all of a sudden drives totally different and not in a good way. The manager of the service department told me that they can't fix the car because it's too much work. I did not feel safe driving my vehicle which I told the dealer about 5 times. That did not matter to them at all. The dealer argued me down and I told them that I will not drive my vehicle in the position it was in. I will continue to go as far as I need to do get this unsafe situation handled. I do not appreciate this. I trusted in Cadillac and I will never go back there again.

Vehicle was stationary in our home garage. It would not start, it would start when jumped but died shortly after. We had the battery tested, it was bad, we replaced w a new battery. Car started right up, but would not cut power once the key was removed from the ignition. Car dings and dash and radio are on as if keys are still in the ignition.

The contact stated the vehicle was taken to an unknow mechanic that replaced the alternator, fuel pump, battery and found that the timming chain had failed. The timiing chain was not replaced. The manufacturer advised the contact that the vehicle was not recalled. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 103,400. Li.

Second time timing chain failed Cadillac says 2007-2009 Cadillac timing chains have a recall 11340c except my VIN # car is not included in the recalls I had to pay for both repair $1600 and $2900 Cadillac should reimburse me.

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that while driving at 73 mph, the vehicle loss motive power without warning. The contact managed to veer to the shoulder of the road. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to her residence and towed the following day to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the piston rods and crankshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to c & c auto (834 e maumee st, angola, in 46703, (260) 624-2011) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact's husband replaced the starter however, the engine was not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.

First ecm module needing to be replaced, we replaced it then after that started running rough, took it to auto zone, 12 codes popped up. Did normal maintenance of vehicle, oil change spark plugs . Then a few days later we were on the highway and all of a sudden we lost all power, pushed on accelerator no power, front end started shaking, so pulled over, vehicle was very hot and smells like gas, had it towed compression test were no good, was told gasket were bad, also was told to check the recall list. Im up set because our children were in the vehicle with us. I hope we are able to get whatever needs to be fixed on this vehicle. Thank you.

Mine is the timing chain slips caused from wrong valve cover gasket and the life on the oil.

I went to Cadillac to get the recall fixed they said it was closed out and couldn't fix it and now I can't smog my car and I can't tell if I have gas or not and I'm scared to drive it without getting the fuel pump fixed.
