Purchased car from dealership in oct 2015. While driving, I begin to smell burning oil and noticed oil leak under vehicle on left side. Took it to a mechanic to see where leak is coming from and he stated that valve cover gasket is leaking oil out as well as oil is present in the spark plug reservoirs. Will have to get gaskets replaced before further damage is caused. This seems to be a common problem with this model vehicle and I recently saw on news where gm recalled other models and years of vehicle with same issue. Why wasn't this model Cadillac included in the recall when is should have?.

For the last year my car has ran badly. Very rough idle, engine light throwing multiple codes, bad gas mileage, heavy oil consumption, and pulsating throttle while parked and driving. I've taken it to the dealership and for an entire year they've given me the runaround. On Monday I took it back in to rancho motor company in victorville, California and they finally say it's the timing chain. The recall warranty voided at 120000 miles. Now they refuse to honor the recall. My car is dangerous to drive.

The car has unbelievable oil consumption. I was traveling from illinois to iowa to visit my father. During the first 4 hours, I had to add 4 quarts of oil. Than 20 minutes from our destination, we hear a pop, the car stops running, no brakes and I am doing 70 mph in the left lane with no power steering. I luckily get the car to the right side of the road. Called a tow truck and tow it to a mechanic who tells me I need a new engine. Upon researching any issues with Cts, I find numerous blogs with customers with the same car and issues. Many of who complained to Cadillac. Why has the manufacturer not done anything to correct this, notify customers and prevent any injuries or worst a potential death. What are they waiting for? they know about the blogs because their representative was on there after someone suggested a class action lawsuit trying to defuse the situation.
Leaking valve cover gaskets resulting in oil on coils, oxygen sensor and risk for oil related fires. The smell of burning oil is prevalent because of oil on hot engine parts. A review of various internet forums shows this is a common problem on this make/model. A consensus opinion appears to be the valve cover gaskets were made from inferior materials. Since this is a fire safety issue and/or a result of the manufacturer's negligence, this car should be recalled.
The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that the vehicle consumed oil at an excessive rate of twenty quarts per month. The contact also stated that the check engine light constantly illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was consuming oil at a normal rate. There were no oil leaks coming from the vehicle. The dealer suggested performing an oil consumption test, but the test was not performed. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 50,000.
Engine began burning oil. Gm replaced damage to timing chain but did not fix the problem in the engine that causes it to burn oil. So now, I have to add . 5 quart every 300 miles. My technician tells me he has many in the same boat.
My 2006 Cadillac Cts with a 3. 6l v6 started burning oil excessively at about 25,000 miles. It now has about 31,000 miles and burns a quart every 800 miles. I drive about 6500 miles per year, mostly in short distance city driving. The car still drives well and it still passes the texas vehicle inspection which includes emissions testing. The oil gets black quickly after a change. This oil consumption is excessive for such a low mileage car.

My 06 Cadillac Cts had less than 35000 miles on it and less than 3,000 on an oil change when I noticed the oil level was below the reading marks on the dipstick. No drips on the ground. After researching I discovered their spec is to burn 1 quart per 1000 miles (1 quart per 500 miles if aggressively driven). I took the car in for an evaluation to see if it hit their "specs", and the service manager performed an oil change, and set me up for a reinspection at 2,000 miles. When I went in he checked the oil level, and it was low, I asked where the level should have been on the dipstick and he gave me a range. If the consumption rate is so specific, shouldn't the test for consumption have strict guidlelines about where the dipstick readings should be? I have owned almost exclusively gm vehicles for most of my adult life. Even in the ones I've kept for 150,000 miles plus, I have never had even one of them leak let alone burn oil at this rate. In 3000 miles, I have to put 2 quarts of oil in this vehicle, and that's normal. It may not be a safety issue, at least until my car engine seizes on the highway from lack of oil, but it is def something that needs to be addressed by gm.
The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that there was excessive consumption of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The vehicle was then taken to a private mechanic where was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned the vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions for the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 72,000.
Engine oil consumption 2005 cadi Cts. Bought the car with 75k miles. 3 months later and 3800 miles. . No oil, no oil light came on. Engine damaged. Dealer bloosom Chevrolet said engine replacement was all on me. Then later came back and said dgm was paying 1/3 and the dealership would pay 1/3 and 1/3 was on me. I have found reports that oil consumption is a problem with this type of car.
My Cts have been in the shop numerous time for smoke and the smell of oil burning coming from the engine compartment. After years of taking my vehicle to the dealership and having parts replace the problem still occur.
The dealer unkinked a fuel tank hose. This problem made it difficult to pump gas into the tank. This vehicle is not getting the proper gas mileage and burns too much oil, engine cooler leaking fluid, when the vehicle sits overnight it has to be cranked two or three times before the engine starts .
