The car began cutting off unexpectedly when stopping. The mechanic told us the timing chain was faulty. The car barely has 65,000 miles on it and has primarily been driven to work only, averaging 20 miles a day! we contacted the company but they have not recalled the timing chain on this particular car. It has on older models so I wanted to report to have the newer models further researched as well. This is a huge safety concern as intersections can be dangerous for an unpredictable car.

I have a Cts and I've gotten it service thinking it was a tune up do to it was misfiring. Come to find out that it was my cylinders gotten then fixed and it has done the same. Did research on Cts and come to find out that is a major issue for these cars. What kind of solution can be made to stop these issues.

After a 45 minute drive and returning home I parked my car on the street in front of my home. The car drove perfectly normal as always and there was no indication of anything wrong with the car. There were no warning lights or anything else to indicate a problem with the car. I entered my house and as I walked pasted my kitchen window I could see flames coming out from under the hood on the driver side of the vehicle it was only a couple of minutes since from the time I entered my house. Within 5 minutes the entire car was engulfed with flames. After the fire department extinguished then fire I asked what could have cause the fire. I was told it was probably an electrical or a fuel malfunction.

Tl the contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Cts. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. After restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,900.

Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Cts. While driving at various speeds the brake pedal depressed to the floor and failed to stop. The key was stuck inside the ignition switch , additionally, the contact detected fuel leaking from the vehicle. The remove key message was displayed, the door lock and air bag warning indicator lights were illuminated the contact called winter Chevrolet 3750 century CT, pittsburg, CA 94565 (925) 232-0290 but , vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to the an independent mechanic where the brakes ,key and battery were replaced. The manufacturer was contacted who referred contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 185,000. The timing chain is faulty. This is a $2200 repair. Numerous people are having this same problem. Please recall.

Takara recall for timing chain on 2009 Cadillac Cts. Took to dealer and they wont cover it. Car was stationary when the light came on.

Error codes related to timing chain are on therefore it now needs to be replaced. It looks like many people have had this same issue.

At about approximately 4:22 am this morning my car was engulfed in flames in my driveway. I was awakened by my Cadillac Cts 2003 car alarm as the flames we're visible thru my bedroom window. At which time I ran outside to turn on the water hose to turn off the fire as my family was sleeping in the house. My husband's car was right next to my cadi that had a full tank of fuel. I called 911 and the fire department arrived to turn off the fire on the Cadillac Cts 2003. And for more than ten minutes the fire was still blazing as the firemen unable to control the flames. My car is gone as it burned down. Please help me to understand why this happened. I only carried liability as this was all I could afford. I thank the lord that even when we were in harm's way, he jehovah god protected us. All the glory to jesus christ that their was no lost of life. Material things can be replaced. I am grateful to god for his mercy and grace. He has total control and I know that he was with us. I was not aware that these cars have a history of catching on fire. I am glad that we were not on the road when this happened. My mother suffered a stroke and this could of been more detrimental but god did not permit the hand of the enemy to touch us physically, halelujah to the lamb of god! I am blessed to be a child of god! I know that he will give us justice because he does not forsake his children and he is a god that does not lie. He is god emanuel! he is my shalom!.

Timing chain broke, car is immobilized. Timing chain has been faulty since 34,000 miles.

My rear tail lights for my wagon have separated from the top of the car due to poor design. Spoke with Cadillac & gm, both refuse to believe it's a design flaw on the wagon models. Both stated car out of warranty due to mileage/year. Asked if they could tell me what was used to attach lamps to vehicle, neither has a clue. Dealer wants $2100 to replace, but no guarantee that it won't happen again. Since January 2019, car has been to dealer 3 times for car not starting on 1st try. First time, negative battery cable tightened, 2nd time replaced positive battery cable, 3rd time dealer has no idea as to what is causing the issue. All lights on dash come on, engine does not turn over while parked. It will start on the 2nd try, sometimes it hesitates. Dealer told me to continue to monitor until vehicle breaks down.

P0008 warning light on when driving mechanic says need timing change replaced dealer says that 11340crepair for 2009 Cadillacs does not apply to my VIN number car car was running when engine light came on.

The car is running like it is stuck in some kind of safety mode. It does not want to accelerate unless it starts accelerating in third gear. It does not come out of 3rd gear at all. The engine light and airbag lights are lit up on the dash. There is a couple of recalls listed for the same exact year make and model but it says that this VIN number is not under recall. I think that this vehicle needs to be inspected to see if it actually does need to be listed under those recalls. It is not just this one specific VIN number having these issues either. I have talked to quite a few Cadillac owners that are having the same problems and their vehicles are not listed under those recalls either. If you turn on the car you put it into drive the car remains stuck in 3rd gear and will not shift through the gears properly.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed of the manufacturer's recall number: 10287. The vehicle was later taken to elco Cadillac (15110 manchester rd, ballwin, mo 63011, (363) 227-5333) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced and the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

I had a recall or �extended parts warranty� for a timing chain on my 2008 Cadillac Cts and was replaced by the dealer at 115,000 miles in 2015, my car now has 130,000 miles on it and the timing chain is broke again! I put only 15,000 miles on the car since the timing chain was �fixed�. The dealership refused to work with me or give me a phone number to a gm regional representative to talk about my options. I feel the car was not fixed properly or was fixed with the same defective part. I would like some information on what I can do to fight this there is no reason a recalled part should fail just 15,000 after being fixed.

There's a very hard jerking coming from some where in the rear area while driving. When this happens there is a lost of power. Also the engine oil is going some where ,I keep having to put oil in it , about two to three quarts a week. When the oil gets real low the engine shakes and runs like crap and acts like it wants to cut off.

Timing chain jumped time. Mechanics working on it state they have read numerous complaints on this but state no recall will be published unless someone gets killed.

Our vehicle was stationary in the driveway of our home. In the middle of the night the vehicle caught on fire and exploded multiple times. Fire report/investigation list cause as unknown.

My engine light came on code p0008 timing chain issue. Cadillac has a recall on the 3. 6 timing chains but my VIN for some reason isn't included. My Cadillac only has 76844 miles on it. The recall they have in place is for 10 years 120000 miles. Again for some reason my car isn't included even tho its the exact same issue and exact same engine.

This vehicle has had thousands of complaints about ecm related problems. Every complaint is the same. The computer causes the temp gauge, fuel gauge to stop working, the tc light & antitheft lights to come on, and the key being stuck in the ignition. It renders the car undriveable because the temp & fuel gauges stop working. I have researched this and there has been the exact same issue with thousands of cars!!! when I contacted Cadillac about this they said I would have to pay hundreds of dollars for a diagnoses fee. The vehicle was taken to motor world auto group (located at 150 motorworld dr, wilkes-barre, PA 18705, (866) 403-0006) where it was diagnosed with a stretched timing chain that could fracture. The timing chain needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that the VIN was not covered under the specialty coverage adjustment for the timing chain. The failure mileage was 108,000.

Miss firing of spark plugs.

The contact owns a 2016 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that he was an authorized technician at latin motors (3175 NW 37th st, miami, FL 33142). The contact diagnosed that the vehicle was losing freon, which caused the air conditioner not to function. As a result, the air conditioner condenser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned due to the vehicle being used in a hot climate state. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 13,857.

Timing chain stretched or premature wear.

The contact owns a 2009 Cadillac Cts. While driving approximately 20 mph, the engine warning indicator illuminated and currently remains illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under the warranty. The manufacturer provided case number: 8-3135377372. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

3. 6 liter engine timing chains worn,stretched. Note - if timing chains fail further and they jump time serious engine damage can occur. Mileage 47643.

The vehicles timing chain is starting to go I was informed that there was a bulletin put out basically a extended warranty for 10 years I was stationed in germany for 2 years and the problem started three months before I was supposed to leave I called gm in they tell me the warranty has ended im within the time period under ten years and well under the mileage but they say it ended April of 2017 and it is now June of 2017 why hasn't this been made a recall instead of a extended warranty I was proud to own in have a Cadillac the german people loved it but im going to switch out of this to a german brand its sad that gm is not even standing behind there product with all of these problems I goggled Cadillac and all I see is this timing chain problem.

Was told the timing chain was stretched by a service technician and it was covered by gm with an extended service campaign, 10 years or 120,000 miles. My vehicle had approximately 95,000 miles when the problem as diagnosed. A Cadillac dealer confirmed via a phone call the vehicle was covered. Upon visiting the dealership, I was told the vehicle make/model is covered but the VIN of my vehicle is not covered. The problem is exactly as described by the extended service campaign.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that cylinder two misfired. The technician cleared the code, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

Warning light came on. I brought the vehicle to my mechanic and he said that the timing chain was the problem. The car has only 61000 miles on it.

Over the past two years, 4 of the 6 cylinders on this automobile have needed coil replacements on the cylinders. I have owned several gm vehicles and have not needed any repairs of this nature, and believe this may be a hardware defect. The effect has been intermittent loss of power, particularly when accelerating uphill at traffic speeds (50-55 mph). This forces the driver either to slow or to accelerate through this narrow speed band.

I had a p0008 check engine code come up on my car for timing chain issues. Gm issued a special extended warranty for 2008-2009 Cadillac Cts with this issue, but they stated I am not covered under this warranty, but it is the same problem as the TSB they issued.
