1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1992 Cadillac Deville

Failure Date: 07/14/2015

My son was driving down the road at 35 miles and hour and the engine dropped out of the car. Upon inspection of the car afterwards, it appears that the rubber bushings on four bolts for the engine mounts had disintegrated / dry rotted and the bolts that were holding the engine into car were severly rusted which resulted in letting the engine drop out of the car. The car had just passed inspection. There was no rust on the body of the car and only slight surface rust on very little of the cars undercarrage. My son was driving down the highway at 65 miles an hour the day before. It is my understanding that you could not see this dry rot on the engine mounts when the engine was mounted in correct position.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2000 Cadillac Deville

Failure Date: 08/13/2003

Motor mount broke, which caused the engine to move and rupture the air conditioning system. Left steering tie rod was worn almost to a point of failure. Cadillac felt the consumer was entitled to reimbursement, so they sent him a check for $585. 65 to offset to some degree the failure caused.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1999 Cadillac Deville

Failure Date: 11/15/2002

First time engine failed while driving on interstate at approx 75 mph. Engine completely shut down while passing semi. All lights on dash came on and total loss of power steering. After serious scrambling to get car off road and bring to safe stop attempt to restart was successful and trip of 600 miles continued w/o incident. Five days later same thing occurred on suburban street in heavy traffic at approx 45 mph causing a lot of consternation by drivers behind me that did not understand why I came to sudden deceleration. Took car to Cadillac dealer and they found no problem. They charged me $112. 50 for engine driveability and performance diagnosis and did replace a defective egr valve which I feel had absolutely no assoc w/ stalling problem. I think after looking at all the other filings of this problem in the NHTSA records, that Cadillac has a real problem and had better get on it before someone gets killed. Dt.
