Engine Shut Off Without Warning Problems of Cadillac Escalade

I was driving down the [xxx] in detroit mi and my engine locked up and the vehicle shut off while I was driving 70 mph this is the second time my engine locked up while driving this vehicle information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My 2016 Escalade premium engine is starting to shut off more frequent when coming to a stop. It also has more frequent issues where it will not start with remote or if inside the vehicle. No warning or failure lights came on. Dash looks normal but no rpm's if it shuts off at a stop. I’ve replaced the battery thinking it was an older battery but still continues to happen. I'm very nervous thinking it will shut off while driving with my family. Please help!! I have not taken my vehicle to a repair shop hoping this can be fixed by the manufacture.

While driving within the speed limit of approximately 65 mph on a 3 lane highway on route 476 in pennsylvania, the ability to accelerate or maintain speed was inexplicably disabled. I was forced to attempt to move the vehicle across multiple lanes in an effort to reach the breakdown lane. Seconds after reaching the breakdown lane, the engine shut down. The vehicle was towed from the scene on a flatbed and was transported to holman Cadillac in marlton new jersey. I am without a vehicle and no loaners were available. It has happened several times , while driving in a parking lot at 10 mph while making a turn the engine shut off, lost steering and brakes and the stabilitrak warning light came on. . . The engine restarted in about 5 seconds. . . I contacted Cadillac main office lawanda 855-880-1400 ex 5911833 and sent a email to mary barra ceo. . . They gave me a case # 9-5065905042 they are aware of the problem and recalled over one million vehicle but my VIN number has not been added yet. . They will not fix it till gm adds my VIN to the national recall #18289. . . I was told off the record that money trumps consumer safety. . . . They are making us pickup the car with the knowledge by us driving the car could kill someone if we loose steering and brakes while driving. . .

2007 Cadillac Escalade problems first reported to Cadillac at 86,453 miles. Electrical problem. Car shuts off at intersection unexpectedly, I hace to raise hood and shake battery cables to get to restart. Upon turning off car, no power to ignition, no interior lights, no power at all. I have to raise hood and shake cables again. I've replaced battery twice, both positive and negative cables, fuses, grounding straps, cleaned terminals at grounds etc. No relief from problem. At hwy speeds causes transmission to unexpectedly downshift, cycles door locks up and down, gauges go blank or start cycling on & off. Ac system turns on heat unexpectedly. Service stabilitrak & abs light comes on. Radio turns off and resets to Jan 1 2005 12:00am, dvd/cd player stays on and cycles after car is shut off. Dealer can not find issue. Request manufacturer assistance by service bulletin or recall. Please advise. Dangerous issue while driving. Problems Ave been onging since 11/22/2016 upon first contact with assist@Cadillac. Com.

Engine ceased running at 55 mph. Chain of failures- engine valve stem fractured (cylinder # 2), valve dropped into cylinder, piston struck valve, valve deformed to cylinder head, engine ceased properly detonate fuel completely, multiple codes, engine shut off. No advanced signal given to driver, no alarms when engine shut off. Power steering and power brakes ceased to work while driving in 55 mph zone, on a turn coming to a red light. Extremely dangerous for 5 occupants. Failure as shown in pictures below of the valve component are related to a material imperfection. The natural of this failure during the metal forming process was not detected for this component and will exist within other components within my vehicle or other vehicles. Once the problem is identified and corrected, engines of the effected vehicles will have to be replaced to avoid this safety issue, as it leads to potential death.

After coming to a stop, car engine shut off. No warning or failure lights came on. Put car in park and restarted. Dash looked totally normal but no rpm's. Cannot say whether car engine stopped before car came to a stop but sometime between slowing for a stop sign to when I came to a stop at stop sign.

The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Escalade esv. While driving 30 mph up a very steep mountain with very steep switchbacks, the vehicle completely shut off. The power steering and power brakes stopped operating as well. The warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. Five to ten minutes later, the contact was able to restart the vehicle after the computer seemed to reset. On July 8, 2008, while driving down a 6,000 foot mountain, the vehicle shut off again and experienced the same failures. He was able to stop the vehicle with the emergency brake. The contact noticed that the failure occurred at all altitudes, the first being approximately 5,000 feet. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure has not yet been determined. The current mileage was 12,034 and failure mileage was approximately 11,000. Updated 07/29/08.
