1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2016 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 08/20/2020

Our 2016 Escalade with 20,000 miles had the tail pipe corrode and fall of the vehicle. The rear bumper was subject to excessive exhaust heat which subsequently melted the bumper and back-up sensors. If the issue wasn't noticed, a major thermal event could have occurred and the truck could have been a total loss. Cadillac has refused to warranty this issue. We also have a 2019 Escalade that is showing significant signs of corrosion at the same weld. I believe this is 100% a design issue. The service dealer, autonation in palm beach, FL told me that they wouldn't warranty because I asked them to install the Cadillac optional upgrade exhaust, not would they cover any of the melted components due to the inferior tail pipe design. I have photos of the 2016 exhaust upon failure and the 2019 with the start of corrosion that I can email directly.

4 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2006 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 04/11/2016

Engine started misfiring while on highway. Engine light came on and was blinking. I pulled off the road and had the car towed to dealer. The result is #6 and #8 are misfiring and also were told that 2 manifold bolts on right side of engine were broken off in engine body. If they cannot get the bolts to back off they will have to pull the head to drill them out on the inside.

9 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2002 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 01/24/2014

I am another unhappy gm vehicle owner due to a very common safety issue on their engines, the bolts on my exhaust manifold have broken, 3 in just one week, and im sure the others will break too in just a matter of time. . I think gm should do a recall on this issue, bcus it will not only look good on them but keep their future costumers happy. . If I do not get a recall on this , I will never ever again own another gm vehicle. . . Dodge here I come. . . My wife's vehicle is a Dodge and has 3 times the kms as mine and has never had any major issue . . . Own up gm and makes us proud again to own a gm vehicle. . .

10 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2005 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

Two exhaust manifold bolts have sheared off causing an exhaust leak on both sides of the engine where the exhaust manifold meets the engine. This will possibly lead to emissions failure and high repair cost for me the owner. It will also harm the environment by the exhaust exiting prior to going through the catalytic converter or muffler. Internet research shows this is a widespread problem and needs to be addressed. This should be a recall.

11 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2005 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 06/11/2013

Failure of exhaust manifold bolts, dealer says not covered under extended warrantee. . . . This is a dangerous situation, obviously this is a design defect and should be looked into. . . . After reseaching on the internet this is a big problem that gm is ignoring.

12 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2002 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 01/22/2013

Upon the recent development of a loud "ticking" noise when starting my 2002 Escalade 6. 0 awd, I immediately brought the truck into my local shop for diagnostics. A quick inspection found missing and rusted exhaust manifold bolts on the driver side of my engine, causing an exhaust leak. This leak creates not only a dangerous co2 leak within the engine compartment (which also can be drawn into the cabin's hvac system), but it also raises environmental concerns, as the leaking exhaust is not being properly treated via the vehicle's catalytic converter. My passenger side manifold also has rusted bolts and is very close to having the same issue as the driver side. My truck is impeccably maintained, with all the applicable service records. This issue is well documented across the internet, with owners of 1999-2006 escaldes, tahoes, suburbans, yukon/xls, silverados and sierras. I strongly urge the NHTSA to launch an investigation into the issues surrounding the massive failure of manifolds and manifold bolts on 1999-2006 gm full size SUV and pickup trucks. A quick search online should provide more than enough compelling evidence to begin an investigation. I'll be happy to personally provide whatever assistance I can to help encourage your decision.

13 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2005 Cadillac Escalade

The contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Escalade esv. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the contact noticed a ticking sound coming from the engine. The check engine light was also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where a diagnostic revealed that the exhaust manifold bolts had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was repaired. The failure mileage was 139,000 and the current mileage was 140,043.

15 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

Heard from dealer my manifold bolt is broken. . . Said $500-600 to fix.

16 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2005 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

I have two cracked exhaust manifold bolts. I have read that thousands of similar vehicles have this same condition. I have an intermittent check engine light that it won't pass emissions. I am also worried of where it is located, that it may cause a fire. I would think gm should have an obligation to fix this defect due to the epa violation & safety risk that it posses.

17 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 03/27/2012

While traveling on an interstate highway steering became completely unresponsive. I managed to exit highway without incident. Attempted to make left turn but car continued to go straight. The vehicle had to be towed as it was unable to be driven. Informed by dealer the manifold heatshield rusted and fell into the steering mechanism causing the complete lack of steering control. Extended warranty company refuses to cover repair.

18 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

Noticed excessive exhaust fumes inside the car while at idle during stops. All windows up during winter season driving. Inspected exhaust system for leaks. Noticed exhaust manifold bolts on both sides of engine missing and subsequent leaks at each exhaust port with missing bolts. Noticed excessive rusting and corrosion of exhaust manifold and bolts. This seems to be caused by a metal defect creating premature corrosion of exhaust manifolds and bolts. Intern, causing exhaust leaks and excessive amounts of exhaust gases under hood an in the cabin. This is a major safety concern to me and my family. Please investigate.

19 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2003 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 06/08/2011

Found half of exhaust manifold bolts broken and cannot get inspected now.
