2 Ignition Switch problem of the 2002 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 12/09/2006

Defective equipment. Ignition switch broke. Aaa sent locksmith. Locksmith said he has changed approx. 14 of these in last 1 and 1/2 weeks. Brass part and spring break off leaving ignition dead/unable to start or move vehicle. I was fortunate this happened in my driveway and not out on the road. $347. 00 later and it can happen again at any time. Before locksmith showed up Cadillac wanted to disconnect transmission and drop drive shaft place on flatbed to transport to dealership. What would that have cost me? consumers should not be held hostage with this poor quality part.

3 Ignition Switch problem of the 2002 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 05/15/2006

Ignition switch: the transmission may get stuck in third gear and the instrument panel may stop working due to failure of the ignition switch.

4 Ignition Switch problem of the 2003 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 03/10/2006

The contact owns a 2003 Cadillac ext Escalade. The contact stated the vehicle would exhibit numerous electrical failures. When the vehicle was first purchased, the instrument panel overheated and failed as soon as he drove from the lot. The dealer replaced the instrument panel at the manufacturer's expense. In addition, the vehicle stalled while driving at various speeds and without warning on at least twelve occasions. The dealer advised there was a short in the main wiring harness. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The contact has had numerous unknown repairs made to the vehicle to no avail. The failure and current mileages were 168,000. Updated 10/25/10 the consumer stated the instrument panel went out, the ignition switch, fuel pump and power steering motor failed. Also, the transmission was rough and shifting hard. 5 Ignition Switch problem of the 2000 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 12/09/2000

While driving vehicle stalled out and died due to an electrical short. Dealer has inspected vehicle several times prior to stalling and could not duplicate or correct the problem. Since vehicle stalled, dealer has replaced ignition switch, but problem still exists. Manufacturer has been notified.
