Which cause the car to think it's been stolen and makes the dashboard and safety features disable. It also make the car don't want to turn off and it randomly turns on if the key is near by. 3 Hatchback/liftgate Support Device problem of the 2011 Cadillac SRX

Failure Date: 03/19/2018

I was parked in a residential driveway and opened the rear liftgate to remove my son's hockey bag from the back. I was leaning in pretty far because the bag had slid toward the backseat, when the liftgate closed on its own. I had not pressed any buttons, no one else was in the vehicle or around. The liftgate hit me in the back and pushed me forward as it continued to close. I was pinned (with half of my body in the car and half out of the car) and the door was continuing to close. My left arm was stuck under me. I was eventually able to turn slightly and used my right arm and right hip to try to opn the hatch. It did eventually start to open. I was relieved and took a deep breath and then started to retrieve the hockey back when I realized it had closed again. This time was even worse as I was completely pinned. I tried to rotate and use my right hip again. I honestly though my car was going to kill me. The door did eventually open again and that time I immediately got out of the car. I watched as the hatch opened and then immediately closed again. (thankfully, without me in it this time. ) I immediately called my dealership. They made an appointment for me in one week, so I did not use the hatch again. I also called gm customer service as I was very concerned that this could kill someone. The agent said she had never heard of this happening. I later found out that this has happened frequently and that the right strut in my liftgate would be the problem. Sure enough the dealer confirmed the problem and repaired it at my expense. Now, gm has passed me from agent to agent and has done nothing for me. They said that I "have an obligation and responsibility to ensure that the subject vehicle and its related components are maintained and preserved in their immediate post-incident condition. . " I had it fixed becasue it would be irresponsible not to.

The failure resulted in the liftgate not functioning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic modules in the rear of the vehicle failed and needed to be repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was previously serviced per a manufacturer's communication (g-208314) and further assistance would not be provided. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

5 Hatchback/liftgate Support Device problem of the 2011 Cadillac SRX

Failure Date: 11/11/2016

On several occasions, the hatchback liftgate opened by itself. Then it would not open at all which doesn't allow any access to the rear cargo area where flat tire repair gear is located. I then determined that the expensive electrical liftgate mechanism became submerged in water from sunroof drain tubes that fail to drain rain to the ground. A further look revealed that the front seat and rear seat floor mats were saturated where electrical cables are routed. Can you provide me with a copy of NHTSA reference # 10078604 or TSB reference # pic-5260-a or any other information why general motors hasn't recalled Cadillacs with this unsafe condition.

7 Hatchback/liftgate Support Device problem of the 2012 Cadillac SRX

Failure Date: 11/23/2015

When it rains the closed sunroof drains into both floor boards of the car, and into the back hatch floorboard whether driving or stationary. Soaking my feet while driving. This has also caused the electrical system that controls the liftgate to go out and it will not open even manually. It saturates the floor and is causing mold to grow underneath the carpet which I would think is a health risk especially for owners like me who have a child with asthma. This happens every time it rains or I wash my car. It has been a problem for almost a year.

9 Hatchback/liftgate Support Device problem of the 2010 Cadillac SRX

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

Rear power door (liftgate) reverses when opening and shuts by itself. This happens about 75% of the time I open the door. It usually reverses when 1/4 to 3/4 open, then shuts completely. Re-opening the door normally succeeds without a problem. I was hit on the head last year by this. The local Cadillac dealer is unable to fix this and they say detroit has no answer.
