Body Problems of Cadillac SRX - part 1

I opened the lift gate with the fob and went to put my groceries in the back and hydraulic lift gate started closing on me almost immediately. I had to physically force the hatch up! if it had been my wife it could have pinned her in and trapped her. This is a major issue it could kill a child! I know it is an older car but they should have built in a force safety switch to disable the hydraulics.

The paint on this car is defective. It peels off of the car without any action or agitation by the owner or outside forces. This causes multiple parts of the car rust to under the painted areas, including the roof and hood. This is a common problem with this model and color as several owners have posted about the problem online.

I am filing a formal complaint with Cadillac and the ntsb about the design of the 2015 Cadillac Srx sunroof drains and rear hatch. The issue is that the rear sunroof drains get clogged and water fills the rear compartment and destroys the rear hatch electronics. Further, there is no manual release on the rear hatch which creates a safety hazard as there is no access to the spare tire. The repairs are estimated at $3,091. 09 as shown on the attached quote and diagnostic receipt.

The rear hatch door of my Srx has been not functioning properly. It opens and closes with erratic function. Regularly I've hit the button to open it and it has begun to close on me with shear force trying to crush my body while loading groceries. It has hit me in the head and the back causing pain. This is very dangerous because it isn't falling suddenly its closing with force. If I try to push it back up it pushes against my weight. I want to sell my car but I'm worried it will hurt someone.

The sunroof drain tubes become plugged and if you can actually find someone to fix the error, its horribly expensive. Water enters the vehicle, causing mold on the back seat floors. This issue has also shorted out my trunk release consistent with other individuals reports and when manually released, via the inside hidden panel, it sparks, which is dangerous and shouldnt happen. After a heavy rain, entering the vehicle sounds like a waterfall all around you from inside. I have to constantly keep moisture absorbers inside of my vehicle in a futile attempt to solve the issue.

The liftgate on my vehicle has stopped working. After researching this online I see that Cadillac/gm was sued concerning this issue. Please look into this for me. This repair would be very costly and it is unthinkable for a car that is less than 7 years old has this kind of body failure.

Foggy headlights cannot see… reported by multiple Srx owners.

This information is addition to the accident, that I reported few days ago. Nhtsa tracking number 11458264. I was involved in car accident on highway i90. My car drove in to concreate barrier and was struck from back by another car. Air bag in my car did not deploy. My head hit steering wheel. I have broken nose. I will need surgery.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated while their wife was driving between 60-70 mph when a small noise came from the rear right of the vehicle as if wind was coming through a crack window. The noise began to increase in volume when suddenly the steering wheel violently jerked escaping the driver's hands. The vehicle than began to spin uncontrollably. The vehicle hit the guardrail when the vehicle began tospin agin. The vehicle eventually stopped but was smoking. The driver was removed from the vehicle. All air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (dutton motor company 8201 auto dr, riverside, CA 92504; (951) 687-2020) who stated that the right rear tirod bolt fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was deemed totaled. The driver received neck, chest, and hip injuries. Medical attention was needed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. I asked the dealer if the vehicle we were contemplating buying had any accidents. Dealer showed me a carfax that did not reflect any accidents and stated as such. Upon going in to trade my vehicle this weekend I was made aware the vehicle has been in three accidents with structural damage and the vehicle is significantly less than paid. I specifically asked the dealer for the carfax. The structural damage accident happened less than 30 days before selling to me and had not been reflected on the carfax yet the dealer knew. I also paid over $500 for a fuel injector issue that was causing engine misfiring. On a long trip my check engine light starting flashing. I got it into a repair shop immediately.

Sunroof flooding in front passenger floor, water saturation on front passenger carpet.

(1) rear hatch cannot be opened manually, sensor shorted out due to design flaw allowing water to come in contact with sensor. This is a safety issue in the event of a fire. No way to exit the vehicle from the rear. No safety release. (2) headlights poor design , condensation behind front headlights making it impossible to see at night. (3) sunroof drain line too short, design issue. Water collects from roof drain and leaks into passenger floor. When this line becomes dislodged. Drain line is about 2 inches too short. Cadillac knows about the problem but will do nothing to fix it. Again another $1000. 00. The front dash dash needs to be removed to fix this. Cadillac is aware of all these issues and refuses to make corrections, these are all common problems not just my vehicle but every other Srx from 2010 to 2015. I've been to the dealer on numerous occasion and all I've gotten was it will cost x amount of dollars to fix it. They recently sent out a repair form for the headlight issue , but require you to pay up front and hopefully you'll get your money reimbursed after filling out multiple forms.

I was parked in my driveway and opened the door and found about 3 inches of water on both the drivers and passenger side. I felt the side panels, under dash, top of dash, headliner, windows and all were dry. The seats and the middle column compartment felt damp. I looked online and found there were complaints of the drain tubes leaking. As the week went on I noticed the car was starting to get mold. It got so bad I couldn't drive the car because it was making me ill with breathing issues. I took it to the dealership and told him it was leaking and that I researched a bit and found that they had issues with the tubes and he said they would need to keep it overnight and would check it and let me know. He calls the next day and says it looks like its coming from the roof they would need to take off the headliner and perform a leak check to verify if that was the cause. He gave me another estimate that was to include the verifying and leak test and replacing the seatbelts and front rug for $6000 and suggests I start an insurance claim. I tell him to not take the headliner off and I would check into the insurance . When I pick it up he hands me an estimate that ends up almost $8000. 00! they had my car overnight and did nothing and charged me $300 for labor! I try to turn it in to insurance and they reject it because he tells them he didn't actually verify the leak even though he charged me. So I am stuck with! thats a big safety issue! my car is actually killing me sitting in it. I could never replace the vehicle at the price I originally paid nor can I sell it or hope to get any value from it to get another car. It has only 71,000 miles on it. A $45000 car that is basically worthless now!.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that water leaked into the sun roof. The unknown local dealer did a diagnostic test but was was not able to assist or repair the sunroof seal tubes. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. Nd.

This car has a failure in the orings around the headlights causing them to fill with water and make visibility low. There is also a failure in the backup camera it seems almost all owners have to replace it after only a few years. There is also a failure in the stability sensor from the wheel bearing having a faulty bearing causing you to lose power while driving and very dangerous, only have issued a service bulletin #pic5428g.

Driving and sitting still during heavy rainfall, water starts leaking into vehicle on right side below the glove compartment. The water was a constant flow. This could have caused an electrical short, made driving hazadous. I'm not what the cause of the leak is.

On may 12, 2018, we were driving west on maryland interstate 68 through the mountains. We were driving downward on one of the many mountains and I noticed a wobble coming from the front passenger wheel. I began to worry and slowed down from 70 mph to 50 mph. As I approached the bottom of the mountain there was a curve to the left. All of the sudden we lost control like we were on ice. We turned 360 drgrees and slammed into the right berm guard rail and then proceeded to travel back across the two land highway and hit the left median guardrail and came to a stop. There were three of us in the car and fortunately only minor injuries. We observed that the axle at the front passenger side wheel had sheered off. I couldn't believe it! also. The side air bags did not deploy when the passenger side slammed into the guard rail.

The headlights collect moisture and they only work intermittently, this has been going on for over two years and I was never notified of a recall,.

The sun roof drain tubes came away from the firewall on all 4 sides. Water leaked all over the gas pedal and the break. I have slid off the street trying to break causing damage to a yard. The electrical on the radio system and lights short out because of water getting into the dash. The back hatch has water leaking directly into the circuit board that controls it and not will not allow the hatch to open.

Vehicle was parked. Pressed button to have rear power lift gate open. As it was fully opening, I put one of my grocery bags in the rear hatch the lift gate powered down onto my head without warning. It knocked me to the parking lot. Without any direction from me it went partially up and down again and then closed fully. I got up and tried the button again to open the lift gate. It opened and then jerked down and then up and then closed. It still malfunctions this way and won't open and stay opened.

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated the vehicle cue screen experienced spiderweb cracks. In addition, the contact stated the functions various functions that the cue screen controls were no longer functional as a result. The failure occurred while being in the possession of goodyear. The goodyear technician diagnosed the failure was due to extreme temperatures. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and no further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000. Kh.

Headlignts are so dim on my vehicle, which is dangerous when driving at night. I have to use my bright lights. I have gone to the actual Cadillac sewell dealership, they agreed with me that the lights on both headlights are way too dim. I asked them to place a brighter lightbulb, but they said they would be unable to do that since it's an electrical issue with the entire light fixture. They said it was common with this make and model, and replacing the entire light fixture was $1500 per headlight, making $3000 to make headlights safe for night driving. It appears this is a manufacturing issue, they are trying to make the consumer pay for for a problem not caused by the consumer. They mentioned they have been seeing this issue with many of my car and make.

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that the trunk that can be opened by a key fob and from two other buttons malfunctioned and can't be opened. The vehicle was repaired at the dealer max dye Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram GMC 1501 w main st, salem, IL 62881 (618) 548-2343 who repaired the motor on the trunk. The issue occured again one year ago and the motor was ordered from a GMC dealer and replaced into the vehicle. The issue happened again three months later. The trunck currently can' t be opened to gain access to the spare tire if necessary. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall and offered no help with the repairs. The failure mileage was 110,000. Tf.

While driving my wife had to push brake pedal further down to engage the brakes to slow or stop. Problem came on relatively quickly. Took to shop. Diagnosed as a leak in power brake booster. Also, the hood release mechanism in passenger compartment broke, making release of hood very difficult. Dangerous in case of emergency requiring access to engine compartment.

I was in a minor collision. Ran into the back of someone. My airbags didn't deploy and my engine immediately caught on fire and in a few minutes my whole care was on fire and destroyed. There was no known reason how or why the fire started.

Rear hatch does not stop after opening. It goes up and down several times then shuts. Slammed down and hit my wife on her shoulder. We cannot use the rear hatch due to safety concerns. Never been in an accident other than a small scrape on the side door. This needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Safety issue.

The tail gate will open when the button is pressed but unexpectedly falls striking anyone in the head when putting something in the back end or taking out of the backend. Because the struts fail that hold the gate open. This is the same type of recall as 15v415000 that was issued 6/30/2015 for the GMC acadia, chevy traverse, Saturn outlook, Buick enclave that was manufactured during the same period as the Srx. This started last year but the dealer said I would have to take care of it even though it failed fairly early in the cars life.

Water leaks through front driver seal tubes. When stationary the floor gets flooded with water. Being leaking as long as I have had the car 2016 August.

Last year , just after my warranty was over, I noticed a pant bubbling(rust ) on the edge of the hood. Dealer wanted $200 to fix it. My car is 6 years old (60000 miles ) now and is spotless otherwise. I am very disappointed with rust showing up.

Each unit, outlined in a silver component, produced a glare and reflection that affected visibility in the rearview mirror. My car was t-boned while being serviced at gold coast Cadillac in oakhurst, new jersey on February 4,2016. The car was was sent to freehold collision to be repaired at a cost of $11,622. 15. The car was not repaired correctly. The gas cap is loose and the rear door is misaligned. The car isn't safe to drive. But yet the dealership forged my signature on the documents the repairs were satisfactory to my liking and I accepted the car back. That is not true.

Freehold collision repaired my 2012 Cadillac Srx after being sent to them from gold coast Cadillac in oakhurst. New jersey on February 4,2016. They forged my name on repair paperwork stating that I accepted the car back and was satisfied with the repairs. This is not true.

1. Since owning the 2014 Srx the headlights are so dim to the point of not being able to use the vehicle at night or storms for fear of a crash. Now the driver side hid has failed along with the headlights housing to be cloudy on the inside. 2. Rear door hatch malfunction. Will not open or close with door switch , key fob or button on rear hatch door. I can open manually and close manually however this is a huge inconvenience as the rear door is so heavy. I’ve been told by the service department that it’s a design flaw from Cadillac sunroof drain?.
