Abs activates without any reason on dry pavement during low speed braking. Brakes will not work, then. Very dangerous situation, almost caused an accident! truck is technically in best condition, has only 40000 miles!.

The break lines on my 2001 chevy silverado failed causing me to have to replace all of them. They rusted through.

Typical gm product, rear bumper rust out, brake likes rusted completely out, rear cross members, fuel tank cross member has rusted out completely on passenger side where the shock mounts to and the same for the rear crommm member where the shock mounts to on the driver side. I mean the fuel tan cross member holds the tank in place and if that tank dropps then I'd assume that it would be a safety issue. Atleast I hope so.

Seems that below 10 mph anti lock kicks in on dry pavement and makes truck hard to stop in motion on road.

Approached corner and pressed brakes to turn. Peddle went to the floor. Almost ran into a car turning and I had to swerve to miss them.

Coming back from store ,went to turn in driveway to house no brakes ran off in grass and creek. Front and back brakes both leaking and rusted bad. Had this truck since 07 and taken care of . Can not afford to pay what shop wants to fix. Gm needs recall trucks with this problem before someone gets bad hurt or killed.

Multiple times stopping about 4-5 mph on dry pavement, my vehicles abs system kicks on and I loose breaking power.

Was trying to stop at red light & brake went to floor with no warning & had no brakes so unable to stop. Had to keep going through light & had to use emergency brake & finally managed to stop on side of road. Brake fluid was all over ground under the truck. Fortunately this happened only going 25 miles an hour in a suburban setting. Never had a problem with brakes before.

My anti-lock brakes would kick in when I would slow down almost to a stop. They would not let me stop. No warning lights were on and my brake system has been working great. Is there a recall on this problem, seems to happen to a lot of chevy owners?.

Driving home from work on the highway I exited the off ramp and depressed the pedal. The pedal went right to the floor. The truck maintained about 15% stopping power enough to just get it stopped before I would have entered a busy intersection and would have probably been responsible for killing and slamming 6,000 pounds of metal into someone children. I know several people with this same truck within 2 years and all have suffered the same problem or had it fixed out of fear. It's not how it's when. . . .

Abs activation on dry pavement at low speed and this happens consistently. This causes vehicle to travel further instead of stopping. Sometimes feathering the brake pedal can keep abs from activating. I have read countless articles about this problem with many other Chevrolet pickups.

Step on brake pedal, line ruptures.

I experienced complete loss of brakes without notice. Fortunately I was driving in a neighborhood with speed limits <20 mph. Brakes started feeling strange when I attempted to brake. After several attempts the brake pedal went to the floor, I tried the emergency brake and it went to the floor with no slowing of the vehicle. I was going slow enough that I could rub up against the curb to slow the vehicle to a stop. Vehicle towed to garage. Mechanic stated that complete braking system failed due to corrosion. This is the second time a mechanic has commented about extensive corrosion in the under carriage. Last time was when the complete fuel lines needed to be replaced due to corrosion.

2002 chevy silverado truck was sitting in driveway I was ready to leave pushed on the brake to put it in drive and the pedal went to the floor . Looked under the vehicle fluid everwhere. Not one leak or any sign before. I knew what it was because I know at least 4 other people with chevy trucks and thier lines went, 1 had an accident running in to the rear of a car. I have a new line set but didn't get to in time. If thay hadn't failed in my driveway the outcome would have been intierly diderent with my son his friend and myself. One would think they would use a material to withstand the elements on brakes!!!!! my work truck truck is a 2001 silverado so I checked it and there gone also. I would be willing to bet that most pepole fix the lines and don't report. To me this is a big problem.

The abs system activates or does not allow you to stop. It seems like the truck continues to accelerate. Pumping the brakes does not work. Putting it in neutral or ramming it in park is the only way to stop it. I almost ran someone over today. This is a very serious issue. I can not drive this truck in this condition. Looking at the forums out there this is a well reported problem yet I have not been made aware of the recall. I have not changed my address and have owned this for more than a year and a half.

Was leaving a paintball field parking lot. Was moving at idle speed of 5mph and went to slow down to hear someone yelling something. Pedal went to the floor. I continued to the stop sign and the pedal once again went straight to the floor. I had to drive 23. 5 miles to get back home using the old school method of down shifting and applying the little bit of brakes I had left. ****very dangerous**** once I got home I checked my brake reservoir and it was half full. Under the truck inspection showed fluid from the drivers door all the back to the rear end. I could not see where the leak originated from. Will have to take to a mechanic and pay.

Luckily I was pulling in my driveway when I found out my brakes had gone because they had rusted through not long after my gas was pouring out cause the fuel lines rusted and now chances are I wont get an inspection sticker this coming year because my frame is rusted out.

Second time I lost all brakes in this vehicle. Lost all brakes due to rotted lines.

Pulled out of parking lot at low speed and stopped to wait for a red light. While stopped with foot on brake pedal, brake pedal suddenly dropped to the floor. When light turned green I accelerated slowly and tested the brakes to find the stopping power of the vehicle reduced to near zero. Pulled over in a safe area after a few blocks and inspected vehicle to find fluid sprayed around front passenger wheel well and dripping from break line. Suspect sudden break line rupture had occurred. Decided vehicle was unsafe to operate and parked it awaiting tow.

At low speed when you apply the brakes it feels like the abs system activates causing the truck not to stop until you pump the brakes.

I was backing up in a parking lot, when I hit my breaks my peddle went to the floor. I decided to try and get to a parts store, but the newer vehicles are not like the older ones. When I hit my breaks in my 2004 chevy 1500 I had no breaks at all. The people who engineer these vehicles need to use a little sense and not put steel break line on the outside of frame behind front wheel. Because when they treat roads for bad weather it has chemicals in it that eats metal. My break line had busted near driver door, it was eat up with rust at only ten years old. New engineering shure is not like the old. You pay a much bigger price now days for a lot less quality? is this becoming the american way because we seem to be getting less quality for higher price on about every thing we buy.

This is the 2nd time I have lost my brakes. Thank god both times were at low speeds. This 2nd time occurred in a drive thru restaurant. As I applied my brakes the car in front of me had just left with there order otherwise I would have rear ended them. I then drove very short distance using my emergency brake. Please recall an fix this problem. . . Its the right thing for gm to do.

Unwanted abs application at slow speeds! sometimes it activates, other times it doesnt. Very unpredictable & unsafe! this is a reoccurring problem.

Break problem with abs. Vehicle did not stop correctly almost causeing accident. After researching found recall for abs wheel issue for other states but not texas. Vehicle was manufactured in canada.

Cost $600 to replace entire instrument panel!!! brakes never worked properly always have to push to the floor to stop even on new brakes shocks always needing replaced.

Slowing down to stop , push on break peddle , went to floor had enough since to use emergency break , thank god because I was coming up to a state route ( 2 , curtice , ohio ) check out why , two break lines leaking , all the line were rusted badly to my unbelief ! people will die because of this gm problem . I was lucky !!!.

Pulling out of a gas station . . Break lines ruptured and I drifted out into the road before being able to stop. Car was able to stop with a lot of breaking force.

While driving down a two lane highway, the vehicle in front of me applied his brakes for a disabled vehicle in the roadway. I began to press mine when they went straight to the floorboard. I began to pump the brakes quickly hoping the system would send fluid to the other set which it did not. In order to prevent impacting the vehicle in front of me or the disabled vehicle, I had to send the vehicle across oncoming traffic, launch over a roadside ditch and come to a stop in a corn field. The failure was a pinhole blowout under the drivers side door where the brake were completely rusted through.

Total sudden loss of brakes due to leaking brake lines, with no prior indication of any problem. Truck was towed to the dealer where it was purchased, and I am told all lines need to be replaced due to rust and corrosion despite excellent maintenance and relatively low mileage given age of vehicle. I went online and now see this is a widespread problem in gm trucks for approx. 10 year range, 99-09.

When I went to slow down to make turn for home, pedal went to floor and truck would not stop, I was able to pull it down in gear and make turn, I then drifted to stop and used parking break to stop vehicle. This could have been drastic because I did have my 3 year old in car seat in back. The break line that runs across front of vehicle to supply passenger side front break had split and most of my brake fluid was gone. I though cars had a back up system to prevent this, but my pedal went to floor and would not pump up. At most the vehicle may have slowed a little, but a complete failure is ridiculous.

While driving on south miniville road in prince william county va, the brake peddle went from working fine and then straight to the floor. Its was lucky that traffic was light because I wouldn't have been able to stop. This is very common problem with these trucks and something chevy should be responsible for fixing.

I was traveling south on high st. In cortland ohio, and went to apply the brakes to stop for a light, the peddle went to the floor. I averted an accident by steering left and appling the emergancy brake.
