Abs Brake Fail Problems of Chevrolet Avalanche

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche. While driving 35 mph and attempting to engage the brakes, the vehicle did not slow down and the abs failed. As a result, the contact¿s vehicle crashed into the rear end of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained unknown injuries, but did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician verified that the abs failed and needed to be reset. The contact asked the manufacturer for a new abs brake module under the warranty, but the manufacturer refused to replace the abs brake module. The failure mileage was 24,500.

Both brake lines from mazter cylinder to abs module failed resulting in no brakes due to excess rust on lines. Car failed inspection 1 and second year due to rotted rotors. Also recently fuel leaking from top ofuel tank and fuel lines from fuel pump module badly rusted. Worse yet frame is disintegrating. Due cheap steel. My 1998 chevy astro is driven and stored in like conditions and yet doesnt show the rust like the Avalanche. Thankfully I was not on the highway when lines blew. Avalanche is the first vehicle to have so many safety related problems due to defective materials. Didnt report earlier thinking it was an isolated case.

02 chevy Avalanche electronic brake control module is defective and no longer under warranty. Gm has had documented problems with the abs on the '02 Avalanche but so far has only issued a recall for northern states, blaming the problem on road salt rather than the obvious design or manufacture defect. Road salt didn't cause this abs failure because I live in florida. The recall should be extended to the whole u. S. This is a safety issue that NHTSA should address with a mandatory recall for all '02 chevy Avalanches. Gm refuses to acknowledge that it is a safety problem rather than a warranty issue. I did a 360 on a major interstate due to this and should be addressed before it kills someone.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500. When the contact turned off the vehicle, she heard a noise in the abs. The battery was drained and the system no longer worked. The dealer stated that there was abs failure. The contact stated that the recall on the abs should be extended to all Chevrolet vehicles in all states, not just the winter states. The vehicle is currently being repaired at the dealer. The failure mileage was 139,000.

About 4 years ago the abs system failed. . . . I had to replace a part on my 2002 chevy Avalanche 's abs system. . Again the same noise occurred and again it is the abs system. . 4 years ago it was out of warranty 38,000 miles I had to pay out of pocket $1,200. It is at the dealer now being repaired. . . . . I'm sure it will be $1,200 or more. . . Again.

I was pulling into parking spot and brake pedal went hard. The 2002 chevy Avalanche would not stop and stepped on e-brake to stop. This vehicle had 3 other failures all at slow speeds. The abs light never came on during these failures. I removed abs fuse and there have been no brake failures since. This truck weighs 5700lbs. And I say stops better without the abs fuse. At 19000 miles all 4 rotors and brake pads had to be replaced because the inside of the rotors had flaked and rusted so badly that the inside pads where down to metal. Gm states brakes are not covered on there bumper to bumper 3/36000 warranty. The abs failure occured at 23000 miles. I also deliver auto parts in a 2002 s-10 chevy pickup that has the same abs failure.

2nd time abs failed, the pedal hit the floor while braking which caused an accident. The first time was August 2002 and the last one was March 31st 2003. Each time damage was extensive and the dealer found nothing wrong with the abs.
