Brake Abs Warning Light Problems of Chevrolet Avalanche

Brakes failed under hard stop (highway, in motion). Intermediate steel brake line failed to rear brakes in a mode of rupture due to corrosion. Abs light had been on with service brake message as well. All other steel lines were corroded and contacted gm. 2 other silverado line vehicles owned also failed this year due to corrosion. Gm response was that no recall existed. Replaced all steel brake lines in vehicle with stainless aftermarket lines. After multiple contacts with gm customer service, I was told to save my receipts for repairs. This is an incorrect material specification, latent defect and gm needs to be held accountable. 3 vehicles that I own with the same repair in 8 months. Inexcusable!.

Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph and attempting to stop, the abs warning light illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start immediately; however, after several attempts, the contact was able to turn the vehicle on. The failure recurred the following day. She purchased a battery but the vehicle was making an unusual noise. She also noticed that the abs light illuminated on the instrument panel. She turned the vehicle off but the noise continued. When she tried to start the vehicle the following day, the battery was dead. The dealer advised her to unplug the abs motor. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the abs motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in recall 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The current mileage was 86,835. The failure mileage was 86,830.

Upon start up of the truck, the abs light stayed illuminated and started chiming at me. Everytime I start the truck this happens. I had my brakes inspected and they were fine. I currently do not have abs. I took the truck to a mechanic this last week and had it looked into. It is a known problem with the chevy Avalanche and they informed me that there is a part for this problem but it is on indefinite backorder. What and how does that happen? the abs system is throwing fault codes stopping it from working properly but there is not a part to replace it. Per chevy!.

Coming to a stop and brakes went to the floor abs light came on , found hole in brake line lines rusted all through out the vehicle . I almost hit a women on Feb 6 2010 another hole was found in the line on sept 21 2011 brakes did it again to the floor it my emergency brake to stop 2 different lines have holes in them am trying to replace as much as I can. There is a box under the body that my brake lines go into they are rusted really bad to im not sure what the box is for I have had a lot of brake problems. This truck has been not driven for months at a time due to brake problems thank you.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that while driving at speeds of 55 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the brakes would not engage. The abs warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact shut off the engine and disconnected the battery cable in order to shut off the abs motor. The dealer stated that the abs marginal would need to be replaced. The dealer made repairs accordingly at the owners expense. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic: antilock) was directly related to the failure; however, his state (florida) was not included in the recall. The contact experienced the identical failure a second time. The manufacturer told the contact that they would call him to determine if they could provide any assistance with the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 120,000.

2004 Chevrolet Avalanche 2wd had not been driven in 10 days, no prior problems noted. Drove vehicle, noticed abs light was on, parked vehicle, turned ignition off, heard loud humming noise coming from under vehicle. Traced noise to abs unit mounted under drivers side floor board, had to disconnect battery to stop noise, when battery is connected noise immediately starts.

When pressing the brake pedal the abs light comes on. The truck slows but just prior to stopping the abs feature activates and the brakes make an annoying grinding sound then stops.

The abs brakes sensors on my 2003 chevy Avalanche engage everytime at the end of the stop. Recently the abs indicator light illuminates constantly and now it vibrates and causes vehicle to skid.

When the brakes were applied it sounded like "crushing glass" and the vehicle exhibited a delayed response which caused the vehicle to slide into an intersection. The vehicle has been to the dealer five times in regards to the abs light.
