Engine Problems of Chevrolet Blazer

I had valve noise and took to local dealer to check. Dealer called and told me it needed a valve job. After the valve job dealer told me there was noise in lower part of engine and thought the motor needed to be replaced. This 1999 Blazer has 68,000 miles on it. I feel gm should cover part of this expense. Dealer would not help with this.

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer. While depressing the brake pedal at 5 mph, the vehicle surged forward without warning. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The contact stated that she experienced the same failure immediately after leaving the mechanic. The vehicle was taken to another mechanic who stated that the multi-port fuel injection system needed to be replaced. He replaced the part, but the failure continued. The mechanic stated that the vehicle may need to have its spark plugs replaced or cleaned. The spark plugs have not been replaced. Approximately three days later, the vehicle failed to start. The mechanic stated that the multi-port fuel injection was defective and replaced the unit, but the failure continued. The vehicle surged forward and became increasingly worse. The current mileage is 150,000 and failure mileage was 130,000.

Chevrolet Blazer would rev up and after a year began to run a little hotter than it should for no reason. I had it checked many times. A few months ago I was told it was a bad sensor. Was this a defect from the very beginning. It does not rev up now. Has anyone else had this problem.

While driving, the crank shaft position senor failed which caused the vehicle to hesitate, buck back and forth and nearly stop. The consumer stated that the dangerous front end suspension defects which failed included a second front axle tube, front axle bearing failure both tire rod ends front drive shaft. Front suspension has defects that could allow the wheel to fall off. Consumer wrote a letter to gm about the problems complaint number 1-245128909.

On several occasions, the Blazer suffers from sudden acceleration as I depressed the brake pedal. It has happened at least 6 times in the last year. I have also noticed the sudden acceleration when I come to a full stop at a stoplight.

Vehicle engine caught on fire while driving. The consumer stopped at middle ridge service plaza and noticed smoke coming from the engine. The fire was extinguished with a fire extinguisher. Damage to the vehicle consisted of hoses, wires and insulation under hood. Consumer had no recent engine problems.

The seat back, transfer case, and windshield wiper motor all failed. The parking brake was adjusted, the air condition blew warm air, and the oil cooler lines were replaced.

Severe water damage and mold. Bogging down in engine when at complete stop the truck will not accelerate.

Lost complete oil pressure. The oil cooler lines are placed directly on the steering gear box, and the vibration caused the lines to rupture, which resulted in all the oil draining out.

After noticing that I was loosing anifreeze in my vehicle, I recently had to replace the intake gaskets in my 1999 chevy Blazer. It has just over 40,000 miles. After doing research, I've found out that this is a commom problem w/ the gm vehicles and that there are thousands of people who have had to spend hundreds of dollars in repairs to have this fixed. It conveniently happens just after the warrenty period has expired. This is clearly unfair to the consumer and I would like to know why gm has not been forced to correct this problem.

Vehicle will not start or quits running while on roadway or in traffic.

Had taken vehicle for checkup. Was informed by mechanic mounts supporting the motor were cracked. Prior to cracked mounts, had problems taking off from a stop, and vehicle felt as if pulling backwards.

Enough oil is not being supplied to engine. Dealer has been notified, please provide further information.

Dip stick is extremely rusty. Consumer feels rust that build up could be a result of dirt falling into the oil pan. Dealer has been contacted. Please give any further details.

Oil pressure dropped from 40 to 20 to 0. The engine needed to be replaced because the camshaft shifted which caused the engine to be replaced before the car was a year old and I am still having hte problem with the car running poorly and getting lousy gas mileage.

During manufacturing the engine bolts and transmission bolts were not inspected properly, the bolts were about to fall off when vehicle was in for a routine oil change service.

Vehicle experienced overheating.

Sewell Cadillac ,Chevrolet dealer,@ 701 baronne at girod, new orleans, louisiana. Quoted me $2900. 00 to fix, said a valve failed and have to replace whole system. The replacement looks nothing like what I had. Am I the only one this has happened to? also I was in new orleans at the time of the failure, I was in the middle of mardi gras parade traffic, for 2 1/2hrs. Of stop and go cars,& people walking in front of my Blazer. I was extremely lucky that no one was hurt because of this failure, with the exception of my nerves. I don't feel that the system should have failed, on such a young vehicle. God forbid it would have gone while on the highway. Thankyou for hearing me out. The oil dipstick has rusted completely. Dealer has been notified.

I was driving on the tollway and approximatly 1 mile before the toll, I felt my car accelerating without my foot on the gas. I thought the cruise control was on, but it wasn't. As I approached the toll and had my foot on the brake, my car was not slowing down, I almost crashed into the car ahead of me. I put the car in neutral and shut it off. After putting it in park, I was told by the toll authority to try to start the car. When I did, it revved up all the way into the red zone,8000 rpms. I took the car to the dealer and was told nothing was wrong with it. About 2 weeks later, my engine was deemed ruined. The rod, pistons and bearings were shot, not due to lack of maintanence. The cause of the engine problem was due to the throttle. None of this should of occurred in a car that is still somewhat new. Please respond.

While driving at 55 mph the transmission went out, the gear was stuck in 3rd gear, and the gears were shifting very hard. Consumer took the vehicle in for service, and the dealer test drove the vehicle and couldn't determine. Dealer replaced the transmission tube, and engine valve body. Also, the accelerator slips.

Cracked gasket.

Brakes/rotors; when driving the vehicle and applying the brakes they go completely to the floor and the vehicle does not stop. January 1997, took to champion Chevrolet and they said there was no problem. Vehicle is in shop now because the motor blew the rods up for the second time.

Valve seal failed.

Oil sensor is defective, oil indicator light comes on intermittently. Tt.

Piston rings failed.
