What is described with the brakes in the recall information is what happened to me yesterday 08/29/05 on interstate 69 here in indiana. I almost hit a semi truck in the rear in. I finally got my truck stopped by throwing it into park after nothing else worked. Then I went to a repair shop and they charged me $264. 00 for new pads and rotors on the rear wheels.

3 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem of the 2001 Chevrolet C1500

Failure Date: 08/25/2005

When coming to a stop, the brakes on my 2001 chey silverado will suddenly stop braking at low speed. Twice this week while parking, I nearly hit the vehicle in front of me. I find it paticularly bad when turning. This has been going on for the past three months, and seem to be getting worse. I have had the brakes inspected recently by a mechanic and nothing wrong was found with the pads or rotors.

4 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem of the 1999 Chevrolet C1500

Failure Date: 10/09/2003

Abs motor control unit failure, after seeing many complaints on the web I am reporting it here. Abs warning light came on and pump motor started running. Even when turning off the motor, the unit still runs. Abs failure. Had to pull fuse to stop, now driving without abs and abs and brake warning lights are on. $1000 - $1500 to repair problem, will most likely drive without abs for a long time.
