1 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 12/17/2025

I am experiencing similar issues to those identified in gm bulletin 07-06-04-019f. I keep getting dtc p2138. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the throttle/accelerator system. Yes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the accelerator pedal position signal is unreliable which is now derating my engine. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warnings prior to the failure. I just get the dtc and an engine derate message along with "service stabilitrack".

3 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 09/17/2025

I lose power steering randomly. When this occurs I get a service rear diff message on my dash, the fan motor cuts out, and gauges like the speedometer and tachometer go to zero. I took it to a dealer because I saw there was a recall for the exact problem I'm having with power steering, but I guess it's VIN specific and my car is not included in the recall. They also told me they couldn't get it to reproduce the symptoms I was talking about but after I left 10 minutes later it did it in a walmart parking lot. I got it on video. This has caused one almost serious accident and multiple minor ones, and I can't afford the expensive dealer diagnostic fee and repair. I don't feel safe driving with it. I'm confused why I have the same make model and year of the recall but mine's not included. I called gm and the lady I talked to just kept repeating how my van wasn't included in the VIN specific group, and offered no help other than to go to a dealer and pay them to fix the same problem that is covered by other cars of the same year, make, and model. I asked her if it was possible that maybe their VIN groups should be expanded, especially because it's an 8 year old car and the recall just happened like 6 months ago, so maybe they didnt have all the data or info when they made the group of effected vehicles, and she hung up on me. Please help.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 07/08/2025

Subject: inadequate anti-theft security – 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ss 1le to whom it may concern: I am filing this complaint regarding the lack of sufficient theft deterrent technology in the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ss 1le, which directly contributed to my vehicle being stolen in July 2025. Despite being a high-performance vehicle valued at over $50,000, the Camaro lacks a modern immobilizer system, encrypted key access, or any active anti-theft protections to prevent increasingly common theft methods such as relay attacks, can injection, or signal spoofing. My vehicle was stolen in under one minute from a secure location, and the incident aligns with a growing national trend of gm vehicles being targeted due to these vulnerabilities. 2 years of $1,000 payments for it to be easily stolen is outrageous. I had full coverage insurance and was enrolled in onstar, yet the recovery process was ineffective, and onstar was unable to track the vehicle in time. Chevrolet and gm have not provided an adequate explanation for why newer models are being sold without basic theft-prevention technology that is now standard in vehicles from other manufacturers. Given the scale of this problem, I believe this represents a serious consumer safety and security issue, and gm should be required •upgrade security firmware or modules in vulnerable models •offer retrofitting of immobilizer technology or free anti-theft solutions •notify owners of the known risk and potential theft vulnerability I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the scope of this issue and determine whether gm’s failure to implement industry-standard theft prevention constitutes a violation of consumer safety expectations. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely, [xxx] murrieta, CA [xxx] phone: [xxx] vehicle info: •year/make/model: 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ss 1le •VIN: [xxx] •date of theft: [xxx] •location: murrieta, CA information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. 5 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 06/01/2025

The radio was making loud popping electrical sounds and the instrument panel screen turned off. Also, while shifting the stereo continued to go off, and the turning signal chimes did not work . I took the vehicle to mechanic and was told that the entire stereo system was the problem and need to be replaced. . The failure had been reoccurring while driving. The manufacturer wasnt notified. . The vehicle has not been repaired vehicles was also taken to a local dealership for a second opinion and was told that the stereo wiring system has completely failed and the entire system needs to replace with a new dash kit and stereo!.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 05/30/2025

The blind spot warning system stopped working, and yes it is available for inspection upon request. I have heard this leads to further electrical problems and am worried this may compromise my safety if not dealt with. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer. The component has not been inspected. There was a warning that popped up stating “service side detection system” that appeared randomly on my drive home the other day. I had not hit anything or done anything to the car that might have caused this. After a couple of rain storms, it appears that this is directly related to water intrusion.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 05/08/2025

The blender door that controls the air flow will close all the way and causes fog build up on the front windshield constantly whether it's cold or hot outside. It also randomly changes from hot to cold during driving. This is a concern due to drivability with the windshield fogging up or the comfortability of driving in extreme conditions ie. . . Hot, cold, or rainy conditions keeping the temperature in the car to see. Thank you for your time.

Side object detection module was shorted out due to water intrusion. Caused by faulty manufacturing material. Caused vehicle to shut down and unable to restart. Large safety concern warranty company refused to cover the issue.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/25/2025

Over a year ago, my car developed an intermittent slow crank/starting issue. After driving 20–30 minutes and turning the engine off, it often wouldn’t restart on the first try, sometimes requiring 2–5 cranks. From my research (forums, reddit, facebook), I suspected heat soak affecting the starter, which can eventually harm the battery, alternator, or starter itself. About six months ago, the battery was replaced under warranty, though I don’t know the full details of what the dealership diagnosed back then. On April 25, 2025, a more dangerous incident occurred: while driving on the highway, my engine suddenly lost all power without warning, right as I tried to accelerate to merge lanes. I had to coast in neutral onto the shoulder, narrowly avoiding a dangerous situation on a busy road. There were no warning lights or advance signs. After getting towed, I suspected the alternator had failed due to the long-term starter heat soak issue. Both the tow truck driver and dealership technician thought the same, especially after the dealership checked the obd2 and only saw low-voltage-related codes. After 1-2 weeks of diagnostics, the dealership shocked me with their findings: the engine had catastrophically failed. They suspect metal shavings, possibly due to a rod bearing or crankshaft failure, but the exact cause is still under investigation. They are going to replace the engine and will provide the full details once the work is done. What’s concerning is that the slow crank issue had been happening for over a year, yet no clear signs pointing to impending engine failure. Only hints were a static (not flashing) check engine light that came on and off a few times over the past year, usually disappearing after 1-2 days and not returning for months. The lt1 6. 2l v8 in my 23 Camaro is essentially the same engine found in gm’s recent massive recall for l87 6. 2l v8 engines in trucks/suvs. This calls for investigation into the lt1 engines.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/17/2025

The transmission temperature sensor has gone bad in my 2016 Camaro ss with 6. 2l engine, gm has recalled thousands of 2016 vehicles with this very issue, these transmissions have enough issues as it is, and gm knows it’s an issue or they wouldn’t have already recalled all those other 2016 vehicles. It can cause damage to the already fragile/finicky transmission in the 2016 models and other years, causing overheating of the transmission and causing the car to go into limp mode, and in my case it didn’t even throw a check engine light, I took my car to a mechanic about a different concern and he told me and showed me the code, he cleared it out and it immediately came back and still no check engine light. It’s a p0711 code, faulty/dead transmission temperature sensor. My car isn’t acting right shifting and I’ve noticed other issues, but is it that sensor or is it one of the many other issues with the 8l45 and 8l90 transmissions? so if that sensor is an issue in many other 8l90 transmissions why do they think it’s not an issue in the Camaro? you can go on any gm related forum and read all the complaints for this issue, and there are recalls about it for other gm vehicles but not Camaro. And it’s not a cheap repair, and it depends on which wiring harness that in the car to how much of the transmission has to be taken apart to repair the issue.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 03/21/2025

Accelerates when braking !!.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 02/26/2025

Trunk flooded with water due to insufficient drainage. Factory radio amplifier and vehicle fuse box are covered in water as well as aftermarket amplifier I've installed. I have parts for inspection if needed. My safety could be at risk if this causes a fire hazard, but I am unsure if that could happen. Other safety risks to myself and other drivers could be present if tail lights stopped working or engine suddenly shutting off. These as well as other things could suddenly stop working if the fuses blow or corroded from water in the fuse box. This is a common problem amongst owners of this vehicle, and has cost large amounts to replace electrical components. My vehicle has not been inspected. I took the vehicle home and parked it after finding water in the trunk. No warning lamps or messages appeared. Symptoms prompting me to check started with radio suddenly going quiet. Followed my loud popping sounds from all speakers. Unknown amount of time before radio and sound symptoms occurred.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 02/20/2025

The rods broke. The lifters are faulty and the power cuts off in the middle of driving. The car was taken back to the dealership and the cam shaft was replaced as well as the rods. However, after getting it back the car looses power and will not accelerate. It is currently in the shop as I type this complaint.

16 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 12/13/2024

While driving I experienced the wheel becoming more stiff unexpectedly while turning even slightly it would randomly get harder to turn. A power steering warning came on saying to be careful and right after the car started shaking really bad. Stop the car checked tires tie rods sway bar other steering components and nothing seemed abnormal. Was able to drive the rest of the way home but still had the random stiffness at the steering wheel.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 12/11/2024

Check engine light is on. High pressure fuel pump issue. Also, key keeps getting stuck I the ignition at random times after parking.

18 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 09/03/2024

I have purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro and it has become obvious that there is an electrical issue that was not previously disclosed by the dealership. The radio and air conditioning shut off randomly while driving and it is accompanied by a loud popping sound. In addition, when pressing on the brake or using the right turn signal, the radio will also shut down completely, while the air conditioning is making a loud rumbling noise. This happens frequently and there is also a constant blinking in the lights on the front of the radio. This appears to be an electrical issue and the safety concerns are based on the premise that it can be reproduced by stepping on the brake or using the turn signal. Each of these need to be in proper working condition in order to be considered safe on the road. I am writing as after going to several shops thinking it was an issue with the radio itself, I was advised that this is a known issue with the Chevrolet Camaro. There are countless posts online with other Camaro owners complaining of the same symptoms and this defect should likely be included in a recall or repairs covered by the manufacturer. Please look into my concerns.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Horn stopped working, and I got in an accident because of it. Also my interior lights will not turn off.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

21 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 08/05/2024

When driving all gages stop working all lighting inside and outside when driving. Happens sporadically. Took to Chevrolet and they said needed a battery so I changed and still happened. Took to performance shop and left for almost a month where a diagnosis was made that it was a corroded rear bumper wiring harness. I also found this problem on a forum with other cameros. He cleaned and it did not act up for a couple of weeks then on my way to work early one morning this week (dark outside) running approx 60 mph all of my lights went out again. My car still runs just no lights. Called Chevrolet to report safety issue with no resolution.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 07/22/2024

Got trapped inside the car in 100 degree weather plus humidity. The car started the whole and operated perfectly fine while a message prompted on the dash. After doing a push to start that morning before work. The car runs for 10mins until it shuts off. That morning closed myself in to get ready to head to work. Remote not detected prompted. It said it three times that day. The last time it said it I was heading home after getting food. After a push to start that’s when it trapped me inside. Called 911 in rocky mount nc. All they were worried about is a onstar button. If I had to wait on them probably would’ve been dead. Cause they have to ask a multitude of questions. Rescuers never came. While onstar was on speaker I thought to check to see if I had the app available to unlock the doors. Usually I don’t pay the bill for it thought the remote way was better. Due to the fact that the app takes a while to upload and could update at anytime as well as signal issues in certain places. Luckily it was setup on autopay. Although it did take a little while to load I was kind of at ease knowing onstar was still on the speaker. Spoke with a gm specialist about doing a recall. Instead expressed that, that’s if my vehicle is even eligible for an upgrade. Had suggested the installation of physical unlock levers instead they ignored the suggestion. This is a deadly safety hazard not only for myself but for others as well. Especially if they are not alert about it. When I found that the key fob wasn’t rechargeable inside the vehicle after being trapped inside it. I bought a battery from the chevy company that was brand new but still a dead battery. Which caused me not to be able to start the vehicle at all. The only thing that help was recharging the battery on the apple watch charger by removing the battery from the key fob. Not everyone knows that and still isn’t a good and or safe reliable method to use cause of uncertainty of battery life. Let the car go back for this reason.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 06/21/2024

Key continuously gets stuck in the ignition and will not come out until approximately 30 minutes. Safety of person and vehicle was at risk due to extreme heat condition and potential for theft. Local dealership says it is a wiring issue. After researching it is a common, persistent complaint with 2015 vehicle owners. Also, there are numerous videos in which to resolve the issue by detaching the wires from the yellow box under the steering wheel. No warning lights occurred. Would get stuck briefly prior to the 30 minute period, but would reset after putting gears in neutral or drive, then park.

The radio, hvac control panel went blank. The radio, fan, blinker sound and hvac indicator lights cycle on and off. Unless functionality is disconnected, you can’t drive without the radio going on and off, the speakers crackling, and the panel screen blank not allowing visibility of hvac position. The problem has been reproduced by the dealer. And the internet reports the same issue from multiple owners with similar vehicle. The dealer and Chevrolet technical assistance center tac have attempted to diagnose the problem without correcting the problem as of yet. Chevrolet has not taken responsibility for for correction or offered cost assistance. The condition first appeared as the radio going on and off uncontrollably, speakers crackling, and the panel going blank.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/16/2024

This is a very know common within the 2015 Camaros. The ignition key always gets stuck when put in park. Many believe it is due to gearshift button getting stuck. There has been recalls on this in many states.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/08/2024

Before purchasing a 2016 Camaro last year I took it to a Chevrolet dealership for a safety inspection with no safety concerns found and after purchasing it around 57,000 miles went to another Chevrolet dealership to diagnose any electrical concerns occurring with the car that I noticed. There was nothing found but I still noticed humming sound and let them know and they found no concerns whatsoever. The battery was replaced twice as over the course of the year the electricals decreased in power. I then notified my insurance there was an issue with the car drawing power and it would not start. Upon checking the trunk noticed water had gotten into and possibly damaged the trunk/rear fuse block. I went through my insurance to fix any body damage but no electricals were fixed based on the insurance representative declining to accept liability for the damage and upon return of my vehicle, the repair facility started the car against my wishes and the rear fuse block in the trunk sparked and caused a fire to start in the trunk that continued for about a minute or two. Upon taking it to Chevrolet this year again after this, I was charged $800 for them to not diagnose anything but to say the x-connectors were burned up in the incident as well (I said this previously as this started the fire as it carries the currents from the fuse block) and to say they cannot find the source of the water leak/entry or replace the fuse block as the x-connectors and harness for the car, the first parts needed to be repaired to establish power to the car, have been discontinued. For more details on the cause, effects, and repair steps necessary but not been able to completed by gm/Chevrolet please refer to this service bulletin that I noticed was raised after I purchased this car upon researching the issue multiple Chevrolet dealerships, ignored, didn't notice, and now are saying cannot repair and should be followed up 18-na-375. Car is at ~70,000 miles currently.

32 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/02/2024

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the driver’s right knee struck the ignition key causing the key to break off inside the ignition switch. The contact was unable to turn the vehicle off. The battery was disconnected. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 110,000.

33 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

The ignition switch shorted, a fuse shorted and these symptoms revealed a bigger problem. The holding area for the tire in the rear (does not hold a tire because of space issue) was repurposed by the manufacturer to mount the rear fuse box and amp. When the sunroof overflows or gasket allows moisture to build this area holds water. Unknown water source at this time but there is no drain for the water directed here to go out. Subsequently the electrical is exposed to water causing a fire hazard while driving or running. In my case it melted various relays and wiring harnesses but I was able to find before the fire started. This is also in the vicinity of the fuel tank causing an extreme hazard. When researching I found this model car there were many that had reported it. This could have been extremely dangerous fire while operating and is completely preventable with small alteration. Water should not be directed to this area if it will not have a way to vacate and they have repurposed the area in this way.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro
