37 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/08/2024

Before purchasing a 2016 Camaro last year I took it to a Chevrolet dealership for a safety inspection with no safety concerns found and after purchasing it around 57,000 miles went to another Chevrolet dealership to diagnose any electrical concerns occurring with the car that I noticed. There was nothing found but I still noticed humming sound and let them know and they found no concerns whatsoever. The battery was replaced twice as over the course of the year the electricals decreased in power. I then notified my insurance there was an issue with the car drawing power and it would not start. Upon checking the trunk noticed water had gotten into and possibly damaged the trunk/rear fuse block. I went through my insurance to fix any body damage but no electricals were fixed based on the insurance representative declining to accept liability for the damage and upon return of my vehicle, the repair facility started the car against my wishes and the rear fuse block in the trunk sparked and caused a fire to start in the trunk that continued for about a minute or two. Upon taking it to Chevrolet this year again after this, I was charged $800 for them to not diagnose anything but to say the x-connectors were burned up in the incident as well (I said this previously as this started the fire as it carries the currents from the fuse block) and to say they cannot find the source of the water leak/entry or replace the fuse block as the x-connectors and harness for the car, the first parts needed to be repaired to establish power to the car, have been discontinued. For more details on the cause, effects, and repair steps necessary but not been able to completed by gm/Chevrolet please refer to this service bulletin that I noticed was raised after I purchased this car upon researching the issue multiple Chevrolet dealerships, ignored, didn't notice, and now are saying cannot repair and should be followed up 18-na-375. Car is at ~70,000 miles currently.

39 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

The ignition switch shorted, a fuse shorted and these symptoms revealed a bigger problem. The holding area for the tire in the rear (does not hold a tire because of space issue) was repurposed by the manufacturer to mount the rear fuse box and amp. When the sunroof overflows or gasket allows moisture to build this area holds water. Unknown water source at this time but there is no drain for the water directed here to go out. Subsequently the electrical is exposed to water causing a fire hazard while driving or running. In my case it melted various relays and wiring harnesses but I was able to find before the fire started. This is also in the vicinity of the fuel tank causing an extreme hazard. When researching I found this model car there were many that had reported it. This could have been extremely dangerous fire while operating and is completely preventable with small alteration. Water should not be directed to this area if it will not have a way to vacate and they have repurposed the area in this way.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 11/11/2023

The stereo system in this car controls alot of the electrical system. For a while it would come on and off now just off. It will not alert you if you forget to fasten seat belt, or if you forget keys in ignition . Defrost has warm air on one side cold on other no matter what settings are on . This causes windshield to fog up horribly and limits vision. It does not make sound when blinkers are on are left on after turning. So you can be driving forward and not know blinker is on giving other drivers the impression you are turning. I've seen videos where drivers are removing stereo and cutting white wire which says stereo comes back on when wire is cut. But it also disables hazzard lights. Now your in the dark changing a flat and you have no hazzard lights , but your stereo works very dangerous. This has got to be some sort of wiring issue which also make me fear a potential fire hazzard.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 10/16/2023

The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power for radio turned off independently. The contact stated she replaced the fuse and the radio was operable. The contact stated the failure reoccurred and in addition the turn signals were not fully functional. The contact noticed that when she applied the turn signal, the turn signal did not make the click sound as it originally made. The contact also stated that several unknown warning lights had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, however the diagnosis was not completed due to the diagnostic fees. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 199,000. The VIN was unavailable.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 10/15/2023

Radio/hvac/audible chimes (available for inspection). My and others safety are at risk every day when driving this car. First the radio does not work at all the hvac controls are tied into the radio and they work intermittent (windows fog) the whole center dash shuts off and on around every 3 seconds. It is very distracting at night flashing from when I start it until I shut it off and I have a one hour commute. I no longer have chimes like keys left in ignition, lights on, and hazard lights are also effected. Everything worked fine prior to radio failure. Has not been inspected by dealer. Ran off roadway into ditch lights flashing startled me and I jerked the wheel to the left with minor damage.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 09/13/2023

About 80% of the time I stop, I put the car into 'park" and attempt to remove the key, it is stuck. The solenoid in the steering column will not release the key although it is in position 2. My wife just left the key stuck and it drained the battery, stranding her. I have not taken the car to the dealer but research online has shown that this is a widespread problem among Camaros and other Chevrolet vehicles between 2010-2015. Users report the chevy is refusing to declare a recall and dealers are charging $700 to replace the gear shifter which houses the switch that activates the solenoid in the steering column.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 09/10/2023

On Sunday, September 10th, the key got stuck in the ignition and would not come out. The car was on and it could not turn off. The car ran for approximately an hour. I had to pull the car out of the garage so that I would not die from carbon dioxide poisoning. It was on Sunday so I could not drive over to the dealership for help. I had to go on youtube to see how to remove the key out of a 2015 Camaro that will not turn off. After watching numerous videos from random people, I saw a comment where you can remove one of the fuses for the ignition. This appears to be a problem with this model and make according to youtube and needs to be addressed due to the risk of carbon dioxide exposure or running out of gas and causing engine damage.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 08/23/2023

The side detection system has failed. I know chevy has been having a lot of issues with this and now its hit my car. I demand a law suit or a shut down or a government enforced mandatory repair at no cost to customer.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 08/02/2023

Vehicle had approximately 5000 miles on it when the electronic trunk release failed to operate. Trunk would not unlock or open from the key fob or the push button inside the vehicle. This was a safety concern as it was determined by the dealer of a faulty fuse box which controlled several other components of the vehicles electrical system. Dealer informed customer that the fuse box was on back order due to a large number of replacements for the same issue occurring.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 08/01/2023

The a/c blows warm air because the air box used to control the a/c was made with a flimsy part. The part is cheap to replace, but the repair is over $4,000 because of the vehicle’s design. The a/c is controlled by an air box under the dash board but the box cannot be worked on without first removing the dash board and the dash cannot be worked on without removing the windshield. I was told that there was nothing I could have done to create or prevent the problem, it’s just not a sturdy material used. And there is nothing that can be done to prevent this from reoccurring, which would be another $4,000+. In fresno’s over 110 degree summer heat, driving around without an a/c is a health concern. Also, the vehicle won’t release the key from the ignition when it is turned off. I have to wait up to a minute for the car to release it.

Failure Date: 07/28/2023

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle became inoperable. 54 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 05/30/2023

Driving back from several trips out of state. On i15, the car shut completely off, while moving. Everything powers off. Car still in motion. Have to push the ignition button to turn back on and resume power and turned the car back on. The has happened now 5 times since I bought the car brand new in 2017. The dealer has never been able to reproduce issue. Are my charging cables for phones and ipod shorting out the car?? I dont know. It's the only thing that might be an issue.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

56 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 04/06/2023

I have an ongoing issue with my key not coming out of the ignition when in park. Nothing appears out of the normal. Several vehicle owners appear to have the same issue and have taken this to the dealer to be advised it would cost hundreds of dollars. The key not coming out of the ignition poses a security concern because it is unclear if it is the ignition switch or actually the shifter. If the vehicle is not truly in park, will the vehicle roll and injure someone? -or- if someone is in danger, how do you quickly escape from your car without your keys? my keys are a form of protection and my house keys are attached so now an intruder will have access to my home if they know where I live. Gm has already had recalls on other vehicles for this same issue. I feel gm should cover this vehicle and year too, especially since there are so many.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 03/25/2023

I’ve been experiencing my acceleration and brake pedal engaging without my intervention. While driving , a sudden unintended acceleration will occur followed by the brakes engaging by itself. With the sudden acceleration, fail to accelerate, & delay stopping, all of these factors can cause danger to both the passengers in the car, including myself & others on the road around me which is a very big safety issue. In addition , with the problems I was experiencing & engine light being on my display I took the vehicle to be inspected by don mealey Chevrolet in clermont, florida 347811 on March 31st 2023 . The dtcs read showed active, failure code0x00: p0700 transmission control system(mil request).

62 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro

65 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 02/04/2023

This car originally was towed four times because of the failure of the fuel pump wiring harness to the pcm unit the fix was they put a fusible link between the fuel pump I believe and the pcu it still has problems it's intermittent it has issues of burning and melting the case or the plug-in is burnt in there we've addressed it with upper management of Chevrolet and they wanted us to take it to a different dealership and it was just a fiasco after that they said they fixed it they didn't fix it gave it back to us. I'm the father of the driver of the car I worry about my grandchildren and my son having a fire in that car I keep having problems we have to go get them and jump start them and figure the mess with the wires in the trunk so tired of this thing please help there has been consecutively people on the internet telling how to fix which general motors should be responsible for this fix is pathetic how much I've read about it.

66 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 01/30/2023

Every once in awhile, the ignition key will not turn off to the steering lock position. Leaving the key in accessory position. This defect makes the key impossible to remove. The defect in the 2015 Camaro has been documented in many automotive & Camaro forums, but gm denies that there is a problem. Gm had a similar problem in 2. 2 million cars; models with a key-sticking issue, an says, include the 2005-2010 cobalt, 2006-2011 chevy hhr, 2006-2010 pontiac solstice, 2007-2010 pontiac g5, 2005-2006 pontiac g4/pursuit, 2007-2010 Saturn sky and 2003-2007 Saturn ion.

67 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 01/16/2023

Car has new engine and transmission everything is new and well maintained, p2138 pops up throttle quits working causing me to almost wreck into another vehicle, I was stuck in traffic 1 hour waiting for a tow truck, 7 shops have worked on the issue and replaced every part including all the technical service bulletins provided here on the site and car is still doing the same thing. The electric system in the car is prone to these issue as is the ecm . Now it's either sell the car to someone with it being unsafe or spend another couple grand hoping to get it repaired. Chevys drive by wire system is a known issue with these cars yet no recall, why, why not recall and repair the issue or is our safety not a issue.

68 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

This vehicle is having issues that no chevy repair place is able to recognize or fix. I can not drive this vehicle due to safety concern.

69 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

Oh wow I don't even know where to start. The second I came home with the car for $32,995 off the used dealership it was a horrific disaster. I have replaced the rear fuse panel 2x already(water damage). The amp was fried from water damanage. The ambient lights and screen along with the gear lights only sometimes work. My morimoto aftermarket headlights wiring all have completely melted and needed to be replaced and that is just the small things. The car has always had severe driving malfunctions. These include: jerking when putting into gear (any gear), shudders, it will rev up when I am braking, usuallu after a small hill or bump it will get really loud like it is in a much higher gear, it looses power and goes into random limp mode, the car has recently died in mid drive just completely lost acceleration power until it died. It will start right back up, but then same thing. Now when driving it will slightly jerk and steer to the side ever 3 seconds. Enough for me to hold the steering wheel tight. These are a few of the codes it reads, although some codes come and go, but these remain p12e7, p12ec, p12f4, p12f9, p0121, p0171, p0161, p0131, p069e, b097b, b1395, b1516, b1517, b260e, b260e, b2615, b2745, u0800, u1808, u0109, u007c. Now my biggest problem is the car is so bad it is not drivable and no one can tell me the problem. It violently jerks when turning as if someone hit me from behind going 50mph. It usually does it when I turn the wheels slowly like on turns, but it also does it when stopping at a red light and the light turns green it just boooooom. It is so loud and and so violent it is as if my back end fell off. Also the tires are locked up and when I turn it makes my tire scream. These problems have been going on since I purchased the vehicle and got it home around 70k miles and now I am at 160k with the same problems and then some. The car twice now has driven itself when in park with car running. I put in park and was on phone at store and it drove.
