My car has been sitting at the dealership since July 28, 2025 due to a faulty valve body from gm. The part is apparently back ordered but it has been 2 months now with zero estimate on when the dealership will get this part to fix my car. I have had 3 loaners and being requested to take the new loaner in for my fourth loaner which takes time out of my day constantly having to switch out cars which I have also repeatedly put gas in and ends up with more gas than when it was given to me. I’m very frustrated at the lack of answers of when my car will be fixed and given back to me as I continue making expensive car payments each month. What can be done for this frustration?.

Subject: inadequate anti-theft security – 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ss 1le to whom it may concern: I am filing this complaint regarding the lack of sufficient theft deterrent technology in the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ss 1le, which directly contributed to my vehicle being stolen in July 2025. Despite being a high-performance vehicle valued at over $50,000, the Camaro lacks a modern immobilizer system, encrypted key access, or any active anti-theft protections to prevent increasingly common theft methods such as relay attacks, can injection, or signal spoofing. My vehicle was stolen in under one minute from a secure location, and the incident aligns with a growing national trend of gm vehicles being targeted due to these vulnerabilities. 2 years of $1,000 payments for it to be easily stolen is outrageous. I had full coverage insurance and was enrolled in onstar, yet the recovery process was ineffective, and onstar was unable to track the vehicle in time. Chevrolet and gm have not provided an adequate explanation for why newer models are being sold without basic theft-prevention technology that is now standard in vehicles from other manufacturers. Given the scale of this problem, I believe this represents a serious consumer safety and security issue, and gm should be required •upgrade security firmware or modules in vulnerable models •offer retrofitting of immobilizer technology or free anti-theft solutions •notify owners of the known risk and potential theft vulnerability I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the scope of this issue and determine whether gm’s failure to implement industry-standard theft prevention constitutes a violation of consumer safety expectations. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely, [xxx] murrieta, CA [xxx] phone: [xxx] vehicle info: •year/make/model: 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ss 1le •VIN: [xxx] •date of theft: [xxx] •location: murrieta, CA information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. [xxx] here is a link that explains this further. The oil pump on this vehicle has gone out with 11,000 miles on it. This a known problem from gm and they will not fix it. I am being told my car is out of warranty so no luck. This is not right. The pump should not go out that quick. I am being thrown to the side because I cherished my gm vehicle and didn't drive it as much as others. It risks blowing up the motor due to their faulty part. It isn't safe. [xxx] here is another link to gm's site explaining that they know it is an issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I am writing to report a serious safety issue I experienced with my Chevrolet Camaro, which I believe may be related to a broader mechanical defect affecting general motors vehicles. Approximately two weeks ago, while driving on the highway, an “esc” (electronic stability control) warning suddenly appeared on my dashboard. Immediately after, my vehicle began losing power and eventually shut down completely. I was fortunate to be able to coast to the shoulder to avoid a hazardous situation in active traffic. Believing the issue might be battery-related, I contacted aaa for assistance. However, a jump start was unsuccessful, and the vehicle remained non-functional. I then had it towed to a Chevrolet dealership for diagnosis. The dealership replaced both the battery and the starter, after which I was able to take the vehicle home. Unfortunately, within less than a week, the same issue occurred again — sudden loss of power and inability to restart the vehicle. Upon further inspection, the dealership concluded that the engine itself is failing and could seize at any time. This raises a significant safety concern. A sudden engine shutdown, particularly at highway speeds, presents a major risk not only to the driver but to surrounding motorists. I am aware that Chevrolet has issued a recall affecting certain silverado models for engine-related defects that appear to cause similar symptoms. Despite this, no such recall has been issued for Camaros, even though I am experiencing nearly identical issues. I strongly urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter further, as it appears there may be a pattern of failure in gm engines that is not limited to one vehicle line. Chevrolet’s failure to address this problem, or acknowledge it in the Camaro lineup, places drivers at unnecessary risk.

At 14000 miles my 2022 Camaro main rod bearings sized up, ruining the engine. This is the same exact 6. 2 engine that is in the recalled gm trucks so I’m not sure why it is limited to just the trucks and not the Camaros as well. I was denied warranty coverage because of an intake and engine ecu calibration not performed by the dealership. I changed oil and filters regularly and the ecu calibration had nothing to do with the rod bearings. I also have many group screenshots of other ss Camaro owners of later model years posting about the same issue I can share.
Over a year ago, my car developed an intermittent slow crank/starting issue. After driving 20–30 minutes and turning the engine off, it often wouldn’t restart on the first try, sometimes requiring 2–5 cranks. From my research (forums, reddit, facebook), I suspected heat soak affecting the starter, which can eventually harm the battery, alternator, or starter itself. About six months ago, the battery was replaced under warranty, though I don’t know the full details of what the dealership diagnosed back then. On April 25, 2025, a more dangerous incident occurred: while driving on the highway, my engine suddenly lost all power without warning, right as I tried to accelerate to merge lanes. I had to coast in neutral onto the shoulder, narrowly avoiding a dangerous situation on a busy road. There were no warning lights or advance signs. After getting towed, I suspected the alternator had failed due to the long-term starter heat soak issue. Both the tow truck driver and dealership technician thought the same, especially after the dealership checked the obd2 and only saw low-voltage-related codes. After 1-2 weeks of diagnostics, the dealership shocked me with their findings: the engine had catastrophically failed. They suspect metal shavings, possibly due to a rod bearing or crankshaft failure, but the exact cause is still under investigation. They are going to replace the engine and will provide the full details once the work is done. What’s concerning is that the slow crank issue had been happening for over a year, yet no clear signs pointing to impending engine failure. Only hints were a static (not flashing) check engine light that came on and off a few times over the past year, usually disappearing after 1-2 days and not returning for months. The lt1 6. 2l v8 in my 23 Camaro is essentially the same engine found in gm’s recent massive recall for l87 6. 2l v8 engines in trucks/suvs. This calls for investigation into the lt1 engines.
While driving car stoopped runnig on expressway ; said electrical system low ; later found out at dealer engine siezed.
Vehicle makes a shudder & shaking feeling after slowing down and picking up speed. Is a constant problem. Also coolant level is unreadable and fan comes on and continues to stay on.

The rods broke. The lifters are faulty and the power cuts off in the middle of driving. The car was taken back to the dealership and the cam shaft was replaced as well as the rods. However, after getting it back the car looses power and will not accelerate. It is currently in the shop as I type this complaint.
Cooling temperature sensor not working. Car temp gage stuck at c, fan always running. This has happened a couple time before my chevy mechanic on south orange blossom trail say he gets a lot of Camaros with same problem. Asked me to report so there may finally be a recall on this model. When I look up on google I get this. . . . . "a common issue with a 2019 chevy Camaro convertible 6-cylinder experiencing problems with the temperature gauge is a faulty coolant temperature sensor, which can lead to inaccurate readings on the gauge, often showing a consistently cold temperature even when the engine is warmed up; this can be caused by a faulty sensor itself, a loose connection, or a damaged wire. " if you look at some threads, many are complaing about same thing.
The esc system keeps going on and off and my check engine light is on the dealership told me that it needed a fuel cleaning. Went and put heet in the as told and I have done that twice now and it did not work.
The oil pump failed which caused to replace the engine as the oil pump is located in the engine. Pieces of metal from the oil pump failure went into the engine which could cause serious crash. I have paperwork from a shop indicating the issue. I have replaced my long block engine which was ordered from the independent mechanic shop who has ordered it from a gm reseller company. No warning signs other then the oil pump went to zero during a drive on [xxx] . I have an invoice and emails going back and forth with gm. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The car failed while driving, became unstable and the engine began to shake. The car is sent to the car one americana s. A DE c. V nogalar branch agency no. Orden: o127217 the following is diagnosed: the unit enters with an ignition check and unstable engine, in the diagnosis low compression of cylinders 1,3 and 5 of 60 psi is detected, which must be above 120 psi, a loss of synchronization was found with camshafts and their sensors. The unit has 100,000 kilometers and all maintenance services are at the agency. I made an interaction call with gm the manufacturer with the number 4- 32911606770 and the answer was that it is not covered by warranty.

My engine got my brand new Camaro is having a lifter tick issue. This seems to be a very common issue amongst these new chevy engines, after doing research they all seem to stem from the same problem, and that would be the fuel management system that deactivates certain cylinders in the engine to “save on gas”, or better mpg. So their own technology is breaking their engines, I’m certain my car is having this issue now and it’s very, very expensive to fix.
There is a security flaw in the software programming of the vehicle. In the 2019+ models of the sixth generation Camaro, they have added a check that requires you to depress both the clutch and the brake to start the vehicle. (manual transmissions) this is a severe safety flaw because if you stall pulling across or into an intersection, you have to fully stop instead of promptly being able to restart the vehicle and move out of danger. Source: owner and dealer employee. I would like to see this remedied with a software patch. There should be no mechanical reason the vehicle has to do this, as the engine and transmission are the same from 2016 thru 2023. This is a deliberate design flaw that should be remedied before someone is harmed.
The car had a partial oil pump failure where oil pressure dropped 30% in 2 days at 14k miles while under warranty. Car was taken to dealership where I was denied service. They said I put the wrong oil in it and "installed the oil filter wrong". I cant even think of a way that is possible. They changed the oil and filter and pushed me out the door. Tt 18. 6k miles the pump completely gave out and had zero oil pressure while driving, which destroyed the engine. A quick search online will yeild plenty of instances where the 18+ Camaro zl1 has had oil pump falures.
There are two primary concerns with this vehicle that, after further investigation, appear to be commonly experienced issues. While driving, the vehicle shudders unexpectedly and intensely, then the issue spontaneously resolves. Upon contacting the dealership, I was informed that this is a recognized problem. The service representative explained that moisture was accumulating in the transmission fluid due to a factory defect, resulting in the sporadic vibration. I was advised that a transmission flush using mobile one would rectify the problem, but this measure proved ineffective. The dealership is now suggesting that the torque converter may be the cause. Separately, the rear window has detached from the convertible top. Despite my efforts to seal the gap, water still seeps into the vehicle during rainfall.
There is a several 2020 Camaro v6 had a recall for engine oil leak my car been leaking oil since 60k miles and now its 75k miles and I didn’t receive any recall for this problem? even tho there’s many cars like mine had the same issue and got the recall for it.

My car has a torque converter shutter that I have been told is a common problem, but no recall for my year/model.
The contact's grandson owned a 2016 Chevrolet camero. While the grandson was driving approximately 40 mph smoke suddenly was present coming from under the front hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was immediately parked and moments later flames and smoke streamed from the engine compartment and the vehicle exploded. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. During the incident the grandson sustained burns and blisters to both feet and fringed hair and facial hairs which did not require medical treatment. Also items of clothing were burned. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 85,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle was overheating, and the coolant gauge was stuck in the cold region. The contact heard an abnormal sound after the vehicle was turned off. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the thermostat had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,300.
While idling out of a driveway on Friday, 8/25/23, there was a warning on the dash that stated "low oil pressure, shut off vehicle immediately. " I immediately shut the vehicle off within seconds of seeing this warning and towed the vehicle home. I've read that these vehicles-camaro zl1 are notorious for failed oil pumps. I have babied this vehicle and do not use it as a daily driver. I only take it out a few times a year and have only 18,000 miles on it. The vehicle is in stock condition and has not been modified which blows my mind that this would even occur on such a well taken care of vehicle that is so expensive and supposed to be the top the line. Of course the dealer was unhelpful due to it being pass what they consider warranty timeframe. I am hopeful that gm will assist in any way possible being that I believe gm installed faulty oil pumps on these expensive vehicles. Also I am a loyal customer to gm. Within the last 5 years, I have purchased 3 brand new chevys-2017 Camaro zl1, 2020 silverado trailboss, and 2021 malibu rs.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while sitting in the vehicle with the engine running, a hospital security guard asked her to turn off the vehicle because exhaust fumes were entering the building. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed as a pressurized gas line leak failure. The contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be removed to confirm the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 19v837000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, neither the VIN nor the model year was included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - the car itself stopped as I was driving up a hill. The car would not accelerate and while in drive, the car began to roll backwards. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - as I the car stopped accelerating, I was at a red light with other cars present. I have to put my car in park and have my emergency brakes. Luckily the car did not ram into me and luckily I did not ram into the other car due to the car rolling backwards. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - yes the transmission needs replace. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - it has been inspected by my local dealership (not at the dealership that the car was previously bought from) were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - no.

After having the car for a year with regular maintenance and service, out of nowhere car was giving electrical problems that was making my car battery die and the abs brake system giving out completely to the point where the vehicle has no brakes at all & engine failure due to cylinder #1 no compression, car kept giving codes p0300 , c0299 , b1517 , notice there’s an service bulletin from gm no. Pi1178f is know as a common problem for ltg engines, also the only way I found out that the engine was damaged when I took the vehicle to the dealership for diagnostic and was told that one of the cylinders had no compression which had came down the line that an piston ring had internally damaged my engine, vehicle has 145k and was running smoothly until sudden electrical problems.

There have been multiple problems with the check engine light . The car vibrating I have had this car serviced multiple times for the same thing and now my transmission needs to be rebuilt which this car has less than 50,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that the check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The engine timing is wrong. The camshaft and the reluctor misalign and cause the engine to loose performance. The problem was diagnosed by a Chevrolet dealership because of the illuminated "check engine" light. This seems to be a major historical issue with these type engines produced by Chevrolet. The engine was replaced.
I’ve been experiencing my acceleration and brake pedal engaging without my intervention. While driving , a sudden unintended acceleration will occur followed by the brakes engaging by itself. With the sudden acceleration, fail to accelerate, & delay stopping, all of these factors can cause danger to both the passengers in the car, including myself & others on the road around me which is a very big safety issue. In addition , with the problems I was experiencing & engine light being on my display I took the vehicle to be inspected by don mealey Chevrolet in clermont, florida 347811 on March 31st 2023 . The dtcs read showed active, failure code0x00: p0700 transmission control system(mil request).
Manufacturer default in the trunk. Water is getting into the trunk causing water to fill up in the battery compartment. Thus, shutting the vehicle electrical system down completely. After researching, I contacted gm who stated that they are unaware of this issue, although many people who own this type of vehicle have had this issue occur.
