The timing chain on my Camaro 3. 6l was stretched causing the engine to run rough and stall out while driving. The dealership was well aware of the issue based on a service alert from the manufacture. The vehicle had 53000 miles and was repaired at my cost for a know manufacturer defect. Had to get the vehicle repaired for safety because it was unsafe to drive. I believe general motors is issuing recalls for this same engine but on other models.

While driving about 30 miles per hour and the my stabilitrak lights came on, along with all my traction and brake lights. Immediately following that, I lost speed and it sounded like I ran over something. My vehicle only has 88k miles on it. I attempted to turn around to go back home and my Camaro shut completely off. I attempted to restart the car but it would never turn over. I had my car towed home since the dealership was already closed. I tried once more crank it but this time it would not turn over, I just got a click click click. I made an appointment during that week to have my car towed to the dealer in the am. I was called midday and was advised that my engine was seized (or locked up). When I inquired how could this happen without warning or indication, I was told that they needed to break down the motor to see if there was a defect and it would cost me $1200. Otherwise a new engine with installation would cost me $7k or a used engine with 55k miles installed would be $6090. 00(huh???). I rarely drive my vehicle so in the past year, I may have put a 1k miles on it. Just 3 weeks ago I had the oil changed with a 40 point inspection. I am puzzled as to why, if my car was having an issue, why did the computer not read or report it at that time. All of my servicing has only come from one dealership since I had it. This issue is clearly dangerous and I see that others have reported the same thing happening to them. Please recall this issue. No car should ever just turn off. What if I had been on the highway and gotten run over by a big industrial truck. There would be no one to tell what happened. My safety and the safety of those in my car comes first. Knowing that this is an issue and nothing is being done about could eventually cost the manufacturer gravely in the long run. Nhtsa number 14v34600 was previously reported by another driver.

2017 Camaro zl1 manual this is specific for this car model. There is an issue with throttle response when moving out of a stop. Engine stalls and rpm comes back afterward very high. This is dangerous on cross road stops and stop lights. Had few events the car would almost stall and be in a dangerous place in the road with upcoming traffic. This problem can cause a collision. It requires new ignition timing programming of the ecu. Chevrolet is aware of the issue for a long time and has not issued any fixes yet.

When taking off from a stop, at normal speed, the engine bogs and almost stalls. This requires a re application of the clutch and more throttle to prevent stalling. This happens almost daily. It has happened while pulling into traffic from a driveway and almost caused an accident. I have been driving with a clutch for over 30 years on both cars and motorcycles. There is a real problem with the torque management system on this car. . Read more...

This vehicle was purchased brand new January 2014 with less than 10 miles on it. Upon taking the vehicle in three or more times for a fuel system issue, I experienced a rapidly flashing engine light two times. I called the service department. They said do not drive the vehicle anywhere other than to the dealership because the engine may blow. I took the car to the dealership on 5/29. The dealership "replaced" all parts on the vehicle including the fuel line, fuel injectors, pistons, all fuel injectors and this did not help. They then attempted to even out the compression in the cylinders to fix the issue of the compression leaking. This did not work. The vehicle was still having compression issues. They finally requested a replacement engine from gm. The engine was installed and I was called to pick up my vehicle after 29 days at the dealership. I requested a buy back, as from what they have told me regarding the car having a defect and this is a huge safety concern for me. The dealer and gm west coast liaison denied buy back due to the warranty still being in effect. This car is not safe and should be bought back by the dealer. We are pursuing with the bbb and a lawyer. The dealership has not cooperated and will not assist any further. The main concern is lack of knowledge as to what was wrong with the vehicle and that being it had 5000-6000 miles, how do we know it will be safe and will not have issues in the future.

Engine stalls when coming to a stop. In addition, the battery volt gauge drops below 13. This doesn't happen every time I come to a red light, but it happens frequently enough. Also, after filling the vehicle with gas, the engine stalls almost immediately after it is started. (only when in drive).

When taking the manual transmission out of third gear the computer cannot find the idle speed , so the engine fluctuates rpms anywhere from 850 rpm to stalling. It does this repeatedly. This was discovered when turning a corner, taking it out of third and losing all power after the engine stalled. The dealership cannot fix the problem and has advised the manufacturer.
