Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of Chevrolet Cavalier - part 2

Driver was involved in a frontal collision. Upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. Driver sustained major injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The cause had not been determined.

On 8/21/03 I was involed in a accident where my car rolled and the car intially hit front end first and neither driver nor passenger air bags did not deployed.

While driving approximately 20 mph consumer's vehicle rear ended another vehicle, and the front air bags did not deploy. Driver's chest hit the steering wheel, causing muscle spasms from the neck down. The seat belts also failed to lock.

Consumer states that vehicle was in a head on collision with another vehicle, and both front airbags did not deploy.

While driving 30 mph the consumer's vehicle was hit on the passenger side by another vehicle. The drivers side air bag did not deploy.

During first snow in Dec 02, the abs in my 2mo old car activated for the first time. The normal pedal vibs occured, but there was a patterned pinging of a spring at the pedals location. All braking power was lost during this, and I had to run a red light because I could not stop, even after pressing the brake again, with the same effect (this also occured while pulling into my garage on a dry surface, so I had to use emergency brake to keep from running into the back wall). I took the vehicle to the dealership, where they checked it twice on the road, and once with the sensor checks (no codes were found, they said). Of course I had them document this. On Jan 21 '03, I was forced to slam on my brakes because the vehicle in front of me stopped too fast. Although the pedal felt pressurized as it should be, there was again no braking power, although the abs did not activate. No decelleration was felt until I slammed into the back of the vehicle in front of me (at approx. 30mph). Noone was injured although there is $4000 worth of damage to my car (and the airbags did not deploy although the front censor was impacted hard). There is definately something wrong, but the dealership could not duplicate the problem.

Problem started same week I purchase vehicle brand new. GMC would not exchange vehicle, they just kept repairing it as it broke down. I feel very unsafe in this vehicle, they did not care. Clutch was rubbing against main line, failed twice. Rear lights burned out 3 times, springs on seats popped out 3 times, gas pump went out once, heater/ac went out twice, locks would not open, 3 times, pain chipped off bumper, once. Rear seat clips snapped, once. Headlights, water leaked in. Twice I had a head on collision in June/2007. . . Air bag did not deploy.

The consumers daughter was involved in an accident and the air bags did not deploy. Mr the shift gears may have been the cause, due to a recall. The gears locked up, while the consumer was downshifting at a red light. It was determined that the slave cylinder had gone out. Scc.

At a speed of 35-40 mph hitting a firebird in the rear, my airbag failed to deploy causing me to hit my head. Either my bumper is designed to low for a straight on impact causing the hit to slide up over the sensor and crush the hood or the sensor is positioned poorly or malfunctioned entirely. My radiator was pushed into the engine, if the bumper was not hit how could the radiator go into the engine.

While driving at 45 mph, consumer ran off the road to avoid hitting another vehicle, and ran head-on into an enbankment. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. Contacted dealer.

At 55 mph consumer applied brake, vehicle vibrated and consumer lost control without warning. Vehicle spun around, hit a guardrail head on, then skidded 35 yards down a embankment. Passenger suffered back injuries. Vehicle was totalled however the air bags did not deploy, the abs did not work and the vehicle did not stop until it hit the guardrail and skid 35 yards down the guardrail, the turn sugnal failed due to a blown fuse.

At 55 mph consumer applied brake, vehicle vibrated and consumer lost control without warning. Vehicle spun around, hit a guardrail head on, then skidded 35 yards down a embankment. Passenger suffered back injuries. Vehicle was totalled yet the air bags did not deploy, the abs system did not work and the vehicle did not stop until it hit the guardrail and skid 35 yds down the guardrail, the turn sugnal failed due to a blown fuse.

Consumer was traveling 55mph on highway, there was vibration and pulsation on driver's side tire. Vehicle slid and the axle broke. Wheel and rim came off, vehicle hit median, air bags failed to deploy, one person was injured in accident.

Frontal crash of moderate severity, air bags failed to deploy.

Was in accident, air bags did not deploy.

While traveling approximately 15 mph on wet roads vehicle hydroplaned and struck a telephone pole. Both frontal air bags failed to deploy. Three passengers received minor injuries, back and neck strains. Vehicle has not been examined to determine if air bags should have deployed. Please provide any additional information / attachments.

Was pulling out to make a left turn when another vehicle hit front passenger's side head-on. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. Driver was injured, and taken in for emergency room treatment. Then, was released. Has pictures.

While driving 15 mph consumer applied brakes, brakes did not engage, vehicle hit another vehicle, and airbagsdid not deploy.

Rented vehicle. Vehicle collided into a dear at 60 mph, and airbags did not deploy.

Consumer had a head on collision with tree after avoiding a pickup truck, and air bags did not deploy, but the air bag lights came on. Daughter was injured in the collision. Gmac has taken full responsibility for the air bag failure.

While driving about 60 mph over a wet surface lost control of vehicle, stricking trees in frontal collision, but air bags did not deploy.

Vehicle hit a deer at 50-55 mph. Both air bags failed to deploy. But air bag sensor light show air bags have deployed. Dealer notified.

I was in an accident that happened on the 26 of this month when I hit the rearend of the truck in front of me I was traveling approx. 25mph and my air bags did not deploy it was a straight on collision to the front end of my car.

This is department of defense offcial investigation. Vehicle was traveling about 50 mph and hit a large fence and cement structure which caused vehicle to roll over and sustain frontal impact damages. Upon impact, passenger's airbag deployed, but driver's airbag did not deploy, which did not protect the occupant in this crash. Manufacturer has not been contacted. Please provide further information.

Consumer was at stop when he was rear ended with great force, causing vehicle to move forward, hitting vehicle in front . Dual air bags did not deploy. Accident caused damages to the front end of vehicle, ,hood was pushed back into the windshield. Consumer feels that the recall corrective action for the airbag deployment caused the airbags not to deploy.

Vehicle was involved in an accident. Hit a guardrail, causing damage to sensor and the computer module. Both air bags did not deploy. Dealer notified, and inspected computer which revealed that the air bags had deployed; but, in reality, did not. Also the seat belt did not secure properly, causing consumer to hit her head on the steering wheel.

Consumer ran off the road, hiting a pole, and the air bags did not deploy. .
