On 6/26/17, I took my truck to paradise Chevrolet in temecula, CA because a few days before my power steering failed while I was driving. My truck was under warranty because it had only 19,968 miles. They said nothing was wrong with the truck so they just recalibrated it. On 3/24/18, the power steering failed again, once on a city street and once on the freeway while driving to paradise Chevrolet. Today I received a call saying something was wrong with the steering wheel & it will cost me $1250 to fix the problem. My truck has alittle under 30,000 miles.
I was travelling at 45 mph and power steering fails. Truck is very difficult to steer. I stopped vehicle and restarted, power steering now functional. I took in to dealer who told me there was an electrical short and that I would need to purchase new part at cost of $1700. 00. Hard to accept this cost on a 2 1/2 year old truck. Truck has 49000 miles, so not covered in bumper to bumper warranty.
Alert comes on and power steering fails. Very dangerous. This happened at 70mph in rush our traffic. Stearing is then unresponsive - no power assist. Onstar system describes it as "an issue with the stabilitrak stability control system in your 2015 Chevrolet Colorado crew cab has been detected. " alert goes away after turning the car on off. But you cannot do this on a highway at 70mph. Fault comes again at random times/speeds etc.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road, turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to roy robinson Chevrolet (6616 35th Ave ne, marysville, wa 98271, phone: (360) 659-6236) where it was diagnosed that the power steering connector failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v054000 (steering). The manufacturer stated that the VIN was excluded from the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
Powering steering failed while driving (straight) on a city street at approximately 30 mph. Several warning lights came on. Not drivable except a very short distance. Fortunately failure happened very near the Chevrolet dealer and I was able to drive it there. This model is subject to a recall (gm recall 15595) however local dealer was totally unprepared for servicing the recall. I had the truck to the dealer by noon on April 1; it is now April 12 and dealer cannot tell me when parts will arrive and/or when the truck will be repaired. Neither gm or the dealer has volunteered to pay the cost of the rental car the dealer provided for a fee, despite gm's pledge to remedy the condition "without charge and within a reasonable time. ".

Returning to work after lunch break. Power steering fails at about 45 mph. 3rd time that this has happened. Took it to dealer the first time and was told problem was solved. Turning truck off and on again temporarily resolves the problem. Took to dealer again today and was told they need to order more parts. Have found many other instances of this truck having similar issues online.
The power steer in failed as I was driving about 25mph. I drove the car to the dealership. The power steering briefly worked each time the ignition was activated, then would fail minutes later. Have been without the vehicle since that day with conflicting explanations . Either the dealer received a bad replacement part or the entire steering column requires replacing. This is a very dangerous defect which should be investigated.
