37 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2024

Power steering and stabilitrak will suddenly go out while I’m driving with no warning. Recall repair was already performed 6/2023 yet I’m still experiencing the problem. I contacted the dealer within a few days of the repair and explained the problem was still occurring. The lady I spoke to said I didn’t tell them I was already having problems with the power steering when I dropped off the vehicle for repair. I was informed I would have to pay for the additional repair out of pocket.

38 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2024

2015 chevy Colorado power steering has been going out while driving, often on the highway. Very hard to steer/turn. Several times have to try to put truck in neutral, turn off the truck, turn it back on to get it to come back on. . . All while doing 65-70mph on the highway. I took it to my mechanic last night, and today I'm told, there has been a recall issued for this issue. Call gm and talk to them. I do, and am told after giving VIN, for whatever reasons, my specific truck is not included in the recall - and yet I fight with the wheel trying not to run off the road or slam into someone else as I try to pull over - which is what this safety recall is all about. All out of pocket expense to me and am told, by gm, even if they do later include my truck in this recall for this problem, they could reimburse me but I most likely won't get reimbursed due to age of the truck and now it has 110,000 k miles on it. What?! I'm sure this is a common type of problem with recalls but for those of us who are on tight income, this is highly stressful and a major problem - for dealing with the car itself and feeling screwed over by the company/laws/whatever excuse they want to say. Truck is now in the shop and going to get fixed cause I don't want to freaking die while driving and somehow I have to figure out how to pay the thousands of dollars to fix it.

41 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

My power steering system failed again while driving. The car became very difficult to control, especially at low speeds, and poised a safety concern for myself and drivers around me. I had it inspected, the service center recreated the issue and confirmed the electrical connections have failed, as outlined in the recall cited below. The year, make, model and issue is the same as the information included in campaign 21v213000, however Chevrolet refuses to include my VIN in the list of recalled vehicles.

42 Steering problem

43 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2024

Lost power steering twice in while traveling 70mph on interstate highway. Specifically, I lost power steering and got lights for loss of "stabilitrak. " I had to pull over to turn off the truck, and power steering returned upon turning back on the vehicle. No loss of power steering fluid was noted. This incident repeated itself exactly the same several days later. Upon taking to the mechanic, they confirmed with the following: "we've confirmed an intermittent issue with the power steering, identified by the retrieval of the c0545 code for the steering torque sensor. Upon conducting a thorough data test, we observed erratic signals from the steering wheel torque sensor. We meticulously inspected all connections, finding no issues. Furthermore, our testing revealed that the torque sensor circuits are not shorted to power or ground, and there are no instances of resistance or opens. We recommend replacing and programming the electronic steering gear assembly, as the steering torque sensor is integrated into it. " final repairs and replacement of the steering gear assembly cost approximately $2500. 00.

I lost power steering while traveling on an interstate. Luckily at the speed I was traveling it wasn't difficult to steer the vehicle. Once I reached my destination and at a slower speed it was extremely difficult to turn. I turned off the engine and restarted and then it was fine. But the incident has happened about 5 other times at a slower speed. The vehicle is very difficult to steer when making turns. Each turn I was lucky there was not another vehicle in the opposite lane. Otherwise I could have crashed. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they had no detail of which vehicle were involved in service bulletin 15595b. The gave me an 800# to call and was told that my vehicle was not involved. It is obvious that my vehicle should had been included. The bulletin is very vague to the dealer and the consumer. It just reads "certain vehicle".

Failure Date: 04/02/2023

Power steering keeps cutting out as well as stabilitrak, after supposedly being fixed under the 2015 recall. Original recall wasn't even done properly according to the recall informational sheet. Second recall in 2021, I never received any recall letters, now dealership are saying I am out of recall warranty and want me to replace the entire steering rack assembly instead of just the torque sensor cover as stated in the revised 2021 recall, this is an inherent safety issue that has been recalled multiple times now so it should be covered or at least replaced properly.

Failure Date: 03/24/2023

Was in a drive thru line luckily, was pulling out to leave and light came up on dash reading “service power steering, drive with care. ” the steering wheel would barely budge. Often on startup, though sometimes while driving, I will get a message on the dash to "service power steering", and the steering wheel will become very hard to turn. This is not something you would want to have happen mid curve while driving as it could very well cause a crash. There was a recall on my truck model for this exact problem, but my VIN# was not on the recall and gm/Chevrolet refuses to pay for it to be fixed. I took it to a Chevrolet dealership for a diagnosis and the truck was giving them a code for "steering wheel torque sensor".
