1 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/11/2012

I was driving home from work during the night-time hours and both headlights quit working. Now, the left headlight continues to go out but I can touch it and it will come on. I have replaced the light several times and nothing works. Also, 1 week ago, the abs failure message appeared. There are multiple complaints with this problem and frankly, both of my issues are safety concerns. Gm has installed defective parts as usual and now the customers are bearing the cost of repairing their failures. These are safety concerns that need to be recalled. I have recently had the intake valve seats replaced because of a gm defective part. This abs failure concern is my number 1 concern as I have very small children.

2 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/20/2012

My 2005 Chevrolet Colorado will activate the abs system during braking on warm dry pavement and the vehicle will not stop. During these events the abs failure warning light was not illuminated. The brakes have failed at 4 mph and at 25 mph. Other times, the abs failure warning light is illuminated and the brakes work fine. No consistency and will not repeat for mechanic.

7 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/15/2010

Abs brake failure. Abs activates during normal operation of vehicle breaking, pedal gets hard and or vibrates, brakes still work but you must apply very hard force to pedal. Vehicle is a 2004 chevy Colorado with only 30,000 miles. This has been occurring on and off for about three to four months. It appears that it becomes worst during wet humid weather, and when turning and braking at the same time. Occurrences have increased in frequency from a couple of time a week to several times a week. I had not taken the vehicle into mechanic to be checked yet, but will soon. Also abs fault light came on a couple times and stayed on until vehicle was shut off, and restarted much later, at which time the light reset. This has occurred a couple of different times during the last two months.

8 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

I have a z71 crew cab 4x4 model. The abs system engages at low speed on dry pavement with zero wheel slippage. This is usually followed by the abs failure light illuminating. The system resets when the vehicle is turned off and the problem recurs the next day in an endless cycle. There are numerous complaints of exactly the same problem on several web forums. Abs brakes have been around a long time and other manufacturers do not have the recurring problems that have been experienced with this vehicle. The time is long past to make make chevy do a recall.

9 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

2005 chevy Colorado brake locks up on front driver side leading to hard left pull on vehicle trajectory and severe over heating and smoke emitting from wheel well. I have been forced numerous times to pull over to allow the wheel to cool down so it doesn't start a fire. Usually after a cool down the brake system responds for a while. I have had the Chevrolet dealer repair the brakes and was charged for the service. Chevrolet doesn't consider this a warranty issue and will do nothing about it even though there have been many complaints about their brake systems on the Colorado. I have owned the vehicle since 2005 and have had continual problems with the brake system and the abs failure warning lights and audible alerts. I recently had the brakes inspected and cleaned and new pads installed by monroe and was informed that this is common problem with this type of Chevrolet abs braking systems.

10 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/05/2010

Abs failure on info screen of truck. 06 chevy Colorado. Taken to dealer and was told left side hub and sensor need replaced. Truck has at this time a little over 10k miles on it. In less than another 1k miles it started again. Dealer checked out the truck and said both sides now need replaced at a cost of around $1300. I reminded them they did replace the left side. O ok we'll cover that side but you'll have to pay for the other side. I told them I would get it fixed just before my yr was up on the left side repair warranty. I ask them if the truck was safe to drive and the answer is yes, we just state inspected it while it was here. So, April 2011 is the time I have to get the repairs done by.
