On 10/10/2012 I was driving at 30 mph and went to brake for a car in front of me and the brakes just grabbed and released and I thought I was going to hit the car in front of me. I noticed the brakes grabbing and pulsating after that didn't know if I was going o stop without hitting someone in another car or something also the abs fault light came on and off. I took my vehicle to the dealer on 10/15/2012 and the service advisor told me the right front speed sensor was bad and had to replace the right hub bearing & right front wheel speed sensor because the engineers at Chevrolet designed it wrong and that they made a kit to repair the problem it cost 930. 00 dollars in 2012. Now the left front brake is doing the same thing. Obviously there is a problem I have noticed other complains listed in the vehicle safety complaints just like mine I feel there should be a recall issued for this problem. Please investigate thank you.

Abs triggered unexpectedly, abs and traction warning lights came on. No loss of control. Repaired at dealership 10/14/11 replacing rf wheel bearing hub and speed sensor. Subsequently incident repeated on two occasions, CA. 11/15/11 and CA. 12/16/11 after starting into a turn at low speed, perhaps with slight braking. No loss of control. Checked at dealership 2/14/2012 with no cause determined. Later same day, failure occurred again, with same symptoms: low speed with turn and perhaps slight braking. No loss of control. Diagnosis suggested faulty hubs again. Resolution pending.

For beeing mechanically inclined this is definetly one problem I cant fix. I did the pads and rotos on my 2004 chevy Colorado, all went well, nice and easy. Later that week my abs light came on. I had my breaks checked and the mechanic said it wash showing wheel speed sensor. I bought the part and replaced it nice and easy again. The light turned off for about 2 min then came back on. The next time I went to drive my truck I turned it on, the sensor was off then the abs system started engaging on and off making a wiered pump sound and making my brakes ingage and disingage. This happens for about 20 sec then goes away and the abs light comes back on. I thought nothing worse could happen after having the computer replaced twice on the truck. This is worse.
"abs fault" reads on my dash in my 2005 chevy Colorado. Have had my truck in and out of the chevy dealership 5 times already. Have had the wheel speed sensor replaced costing me a pretty penny of over 300 dollars and come to find out it was not the cause of the issue. Has been checked over and over by the dealership computer reader and each time has come up with nothing causing the issue and has not been fixed. Problem occurs everytime I drive the vehicle normally as soon as I turn the vehicle on and the causing the abs to run automatically on a dry surface making it very hard to stop when needing to. I am fed up with the problem and request it to be fixed. Yet to be done!.

Pulling up to a stop sign the brakes were applied and they started to pulsate as if it was hard braking and I went through the stop sign and into the oncoming lane. Thank god there was no oncoming traffic. I was able to put the truck in reverse and get out of the lane of traffic. Since then the abs light has been coming on intermittently and I loose the anti- lock braking system when this happens. I believe the front hubs may be failing or the speed sensors which is built into the front hubs are failing.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. When the contact depressed the brake pedal, the abs did not respond. The abs light illuminated at random, which caused the brakes to randomly pulsate. The dealer stated that the vehicle needed front hubs, bearings, and wheel speed sensors on both sides. The contact stated that he cannot afford the $1,400-$1,600 repair cost. There were no recalls for this failure. The failure mileage was 43,000. Updated 07/01/09 updated 07/06/09.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the abs brake sensor for the front wheels failed intermittently; the brakes made a grinding noise when the failure occurred. The contact turned the vehicle off and restarted it; the light would turn off for a few days. The dealer replaced a part (name of the part was not given) in 2008 and August 2010. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000 and the current mileage was approximately 26,000. Updated 01/31/11 updated 02/03/11.
Speed sensor in the wheel hub assembly goes bad. This causes the abs to stop working properly.
Purchased truck in November 2007 with 17,000 miles. Truck now has 26,663 miles. No problems occurred with the braking system until September 2, 2008. While on vacation, stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, traffic began to move due to a green light. When the light turned red again, I pressed brakes to stop. Experienced a horrible grinding noise and brakes would not work to stop the vehicle. Very close to a collision. The abs light then came on and "abs fault" began to scroll. Pulled off of the road, husband looked at brakes and could see no visible problems. Shut the truck off and restarted it a moment later and the light and scrolling were gone. Truck has done this everytime it has been driven since then. Got a mechanic to read the code and he says the abs speed sensor on the left front wheel is bad and needs to be replaced. I have seen many complaints on the site reporting the same problem. Also, several GMC trucks have been recalled for the same problem. This is a very dangerous issue. Do we have to wait for someone to get killed for a recall to be issued?.
