The truck is still experiencing "no-starts". I have been in correspondence with gm to try to resolve the issue for quite some time, now. I purchased my truck from van Chevrolet in carrollton, texas on July 27, 2009. I was not aware of a recall on the fuel system control module( recall #08411 beginning may 18, 2009), nor was I informed of it by the dealership. Smart Chevrolet of white hall (formerly of pine bluff) claimed to have repaired it in 2011, however I have had even more issues since then. Smart claimed to have replaced a brake lamp switch, a clutch safety switch, repaired a broken wire in the left door jam area, replaced a battery (my cost), without my permission to do so, reset sensors which they refused to explain the type of sensors they reset (my cost), reset oil life sensor, (no record of oil change) and I have had to replace the right side headlamp twice myself. Smart blamed the "no-starts" on my locking gas cap and the floor mats, and on my last visit to their dealership, refused to witness (for gm) the" no-start" in their parking lot. Two other dealerships have taken a look at the truck and I paid for repairs of a seat belt pretensioner ( cause of airbag light), and have been refused an invoice and to be charged to show the repair of the broken wire in the same door jam (Smart supposed to have repaired). This dealership admitted witnessing the "no-start" then changed their story after speaking with gm. The last dealership, after talking to gm, tried to also say that the "no-start" was due to the floor mat. I experienced "no-starts" before I had the locking- gas cap(made specifically for the 2009 Colorado truck) or my truck floor mats. Gm offered a subscription to on-star and a $2,000. 00 loyalty voucher towards the purchase of a new chevy vehicle in their words "to satisfy me" (joke, right !) the key is turned in the ignition, the car does not crank.

The air bag light would not go off. The power window on the drivers side rear would not operate from the drivers door master switch panel. The passenger side mirror stopped working. The airbag light remains on, the inoperative power rear window continues to be operational but only from the rear door switch and continues to be non responsive to the drivers door master panel. The all the power windows ceased to function and I found a blown fuse which when replaced allowed the three working windows to resume operation. I had a certified mechanic troubleshoot the airbag system with a computer program. He told me the airbag system would not reset due to a fault with the drivers side door airbag located in the "a" pillar. As there are already recalls on gm pickup truck driver side master window, mirror switch and these above stated failures the risk of safety may have to be investigated and a recall expanded.
I purchased a Colorado one week later my brakes went out. And I managed not to get in a crash. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it . They told me the vehicle sits on the lots 4 months and months and stuff might wiggle loose. Ok I figured . Three weeks later which would be 3/5/09 I left work and it was a nice day I turned my ac on and noticed my blower only worked on 2 and 3 my 1 and 4 would not work so I drove to an auto parts store about 10 miles away and talked to the guy and he told me its probably blower motor resistor switch. Which the part was only 20 bucks but he convinced me to take it to the dealer . Because it under warranty and things like this can short out and cause fires. So I left the store and about 5 miles down the road stuff started shorting out on my truck . Than my passenger air bag deployed and than within 1/2 mile stuff was crazy there was smoke every where so I slammed on my brakes which they didn't work so I tried pulling off the side of the road my steering was locked up. And than something exploded under my dash than I started seeing smoke billowing out of my hood which quickly turned into flames . Keep in mind the whole time this is going on my truck is going 60 mph and I have no brakes. So than I started seeing flames under my dash than my floor than everything on my floor started catching on fire and I started throwing thing out the window and the whole time this is going on I am trapped in my truck while its on fire my door locks are spacing out and im trapped. About 1 mile after my truck was pretty much fully engulfed than some how I managed to get y door open and jump out before I looked down my spedo said 35 mph and when I jumped out I managed to land on my feet and my truck slid in the mud 4 about 50-75 ft within minutes 4 police and 18 firefighters where there and 2 or 3 firefighters got hurt from shrapno . What scared me was I was trapped in my truck while it was on fire. I only suffered very minor injuries.

2004 Chevrolet Colorado experiencing problems with the air bags, defective tires, body structure, water leakage, electrical problems, and slippage of the automatic transmission. ** answer required***. The starter was stuck, the wiring harness in the roof laying on the door caused a short when the door was fully opened, power mirror was inoperative, the door locks opened on their own and there were missing screws in the fender. The consumer requested reimbursement for the replaced tires and for the missing screws. The master switch wa replaced and the seams behind the brake booster area were resealed.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado extended cab. The child safety seat will not fit into rear extended cab fold down portion seat. The dealer talked to gm, and gm did not agree that this was a problem. Gm came and took pictures of the seat inside the car, and said it did comply. The consumer had the seat inspected by three car safety seat inspectors ,and they told him that it did not pass , and it was not safe for the child. The infant seat will fit, but a larger seat will not. For a bigger seat to even come close to fitting in the back seat, the seat would have to be pushed up so much that it would endanger the person sitting in the front passenger seat because they would be so close to the air bag. There was no cut off switch for the air bag in this car.
