Air bag warning light on dash is stuck on. No obd codes noted. Air bags are serious business and I think gm should fix at no cost!.

Vehicle has only 40,000 miles. The instrument panel warning light for the air bag stayed lit. The wiring harness for the driver's air bag was defective and it cost me $250 to replace the wiring.

Air bag warning light would come on and go off periodically while driving. Took to the dealership to have it checked and they stated that there is a short in the harness and the passenger side front post airbag needs to be completely replaced due to this short. The vehicle had 90k miles but it is only 4 years old. The cost of this repair was quoted at $1200. With the vehicle only being 4 years old, chevy needs to stand behind their products and cover this safety item under warranty or consider a recall for any faulty connecters that are part of their air bag safety system.

Three service calls to fix warning light check air bag. One to replace passenger side above door air bag two to fix the airbag connecter on two driver side air bags. This started in October 2015 and last one was may 2016. Is this a issue with this vehicle? why so many airbag problems in a short period of time.

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The dealer was unable to reset the air bag warning light. Approximately one week later, the vehicle was parked and a loud pop sound was heard from the vehicle as well as the odor of gun powder. The contact discovered that the front driver's side seat belt retractor exploded. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat belt retractor needed to be replaced. The air bag warning light still needed to be reset. The seat belt retractor was replaced, but the failure recurred and blew a hole into the rear driver side door panel. The vehicle was not repaired a second time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 76,126.

Airbag warning light stays on when engine is running. Google searched and found dozens of repeated explanations of the cause on vehicle & model years on each side of mine. The wiring from the body to the small rear extended cab door is too short and breaks as the door is used. One of the wires is in the airbag circuit and the indicator illuminates when the wire breaks. Upon looking under the rubber wire protection boot between the body & the door, it clearly revealed insufficient wire length to accommodate the door actuation. Clearly a design error and should be corrected by the manufacturer. No campaign on it per the dealer service advisor.

When I started my truck the red air bag warning light was on steady. I went to find out why the air bag light was on it was for the seat belt pre-tensioner. It was in a fault situation. It was giving 2 codes for this but was not told what they were. Upon closer examination it had 2 broken wires inside a rubber boot that leads from the extended cab rear door to the body. I was told this is very common for extended cabs as the wiring is to short and is pinched when the rear door opens and shuts. The wires eventually fail and cause the air bag system to go into a fault situation and no longer work. Also I was told that the other wires in the rubber boot will also eventually fail including the speaker wire and interior light sensor wires. I was told this is an extended cab issue no other models seem to do this.

Broken and bare wires in any wiring is not safe, and as part of a major safety system, should never happen, and certainly not on such a new vehicle.

Air bag warning light is lite on our 2005 Chevrolet Colorado exended cab pick up truck, caused by the wiring between the cab and the driver extended cab back door. This rear door is used every time the operator uses the vehicle.

After purchasing my truck the driver side air bag warning light will indicate the unit began staying on while operating the vehicle. The indication light for the passenger operate correctly when one is seated and has the seat belt connected. This problem continues to exist currently only on rare times it may go out. Dealer indicates poor wiring quality through design. The issue has been repaired several times but the light continues to remain on. Is this also a bigger part of the faulty air bags as well. Very concerned.
