Several times over the past six months I have been left stranded temporarily by my Colorado not cranking. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Some days it cranks fine. Others, it may take as long as 45 minutes and several attempts to get it to start. I have found many fellow Colorado owners have had this same issue and it seems to be caused by a faulty pass code switch/sensor in the ignition. I believe that this should be a recall issue due to numerous owners having the same problem.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that upon initial startup, the vehicle would hesitate to start between 5-15 minutes. The dealer cleared the lock codes in an attempt to repair the failure but to no avail. The contact also mentioned he heard a squealing noise whenever he would depress the brake pedal. The dealer advised there were over 16 sensors connected between the brake system and the ignition and he would not be able to replace every sensor. The failure mileage of the vehicle was 33,917 and the current mileage was 34,241. Updated 4/27/10. The consumer stated the brakes have not stopped squealing since it was first purchased. The consumer stated when he applied the brakes at times, the vehicle would not fully stop.

For the past year my 2004 Colorado has intermittently failed to start when ignition key is first turned to start position. By turning the key off and than on again it will start. It does this once in while, but always seems to start the second or third turn of the key to the start position. Twice over the last two years it wouldn't start at all and I had to let it sit for ten minutes or so, than try again, at which time it started. I believe the problem is caused by the pass lock security system. Because its out of warranty I haven't done anything about it.
