Chevrolet Corvette owners have reported 10 problems related to battery dead (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chevrolet Corvette based on all problems reported for the Corvette.
C6 Corvettes have electrically operated doors so it is impossible to open a door when the battery is dead. Having a dead battery, I placed the car in my driveway to jump start it. As I went to my truck to start it and connect the jumper cables the Corvette began to slowly roll backwards - apparently the hand brake was not quite set enough (manual transmission). I was unable to open the door to apply the brakes or handbrake because of the lack of battery power. The car continued to roll backwards, accelerating, with me unable to hold or stop it. It rolled across the street, down my neighbor's driveway, and through his closed garage door coming to a stop at the rear of his garage with a heavy impact (over $11 thousand in damages). My neighbor's 2 small girls often play in that garage with the doors closed or in the driveway. If they had been playing or anyone or any vehicle had been in the street at that time there would likely have been one or more fatalities due to the runaway driver-less vehicle. Only luck prevented a serious accident with possible fatalities or serious injuries. This is obviously an unacceptable and unnecessary design defect for c6 Corvettes (and possibly other vehicles with key-less entry and electrically operated doors). I believe that Chevrolet should recall these vehicles and add a mechanical way to quickly open the door from the outside in event of a runaway situation (there is a mechanical backup if one is in the car or if one has the time to manually open the trunk - a slow procedure).

2005 Corvette. Battery goes dead even when following proper procedures after sitting 4 - 5 days. Gm has no recall. After reviewing posts from other 2005 Corvette owners it appears to be a problem with the majority of the 6 speed vehicle owners. I paid way too much for the car to be experiencing electrical issues as such. I wish gm would get off their [xxx] and do something about it. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2009 c6 Chevrolet Corvette coupe 1. My wife & I got into acr to back out of garage. The battery failed when I pressed ignition button. We were locked in car which has no manual door handles. 2. We escaped vehicle by removing roof panel and climbing out of roof. 3. Car towed to dealer who informed us of emergency driver side door release in the back hatch on rear wheel well that must be pulled toward back of car. If inside car, passenger must crawl between seats to access the release. Was not informed of this release at time of purchase. This vehicle is a death trap if the battery or electrical system fails or if the driver side door release cable snaps or jams in an accident. Emergency escape requires climbing through roof or into back hatch - elderly people could not do what we had to do to exit the car. There should be manual release for both doors on the doors. The batteries used by gm for these cars are notorious for quick drawdown & should be replaced at gm's expense with quality batteries such as odyssey pc1200.

Car would not start after setting 4 days in my garage. Charged the battery and car would not start after two days setting in my garage. Charged the battery again and car would not start after setting two days in my garage. Gm had installed a new battery just 400 miles ago. Appears to be excessive battery drain. Took it in to dealer and they replaced a module in the driver side door. Went to pick up the car and when I tried to start the car, the battery was dead again. Dealer installed another new battery. Have not had a chance to use the car (2006 z06) since the dealership visit January 18, 2007, due to winter weather conditions.

My 2003 z06 Corvette battery keeps draining. I'm on my 3rd battery and the service dept does not know what's draining the battery. The problem is fixed when I receive a new battery, but in 6 months that battery begins to fail. If the car is not started within 3 days the battery tends to die. The dealership tells me to start the car every day, but I have 2 other cars (GMC's) that don't need to be started every day. This car is only 3 years old and I don't think it needs to be started every day. I believe something is wrong with the car and the service dept, can't figure it out.

Battery leakage caused extensive damage to wiring harness and tcm componets. The battery post failed and acid was released thru battery holder to componets below. This item is a hazard since it total disable car electronics. And is of poor design putting computer and main wiring harness directly below battery case. After some research I find this has been many such instinces of this happening and the cost is not cheap at about $3000 to $4000.
