The contact's son owns a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while her son was driving 65 mph, the oil temperature and check engine warning lights illuminated; however, the driver was able to safely drive to the destination. Upon leaving and attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the main wiring harness. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the replacement part was on a national backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 40,000.

I would be driving and get a notification in the panel that says power steering is out and to drive with care. It is extremely difficult to drive my vehicle, with no power steering. I would just be driving, and I would get the notification that power steering is out. The problem has been recently confirmed by a dealership. The mechanic at the dealership confirmed it was the same issue reported for the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette (n182182760). The first appearance of the issue was at 3800 miles on my 2016 Chevrolet Corvette. I was sitting at a red light, and the notification came on and said I didn't have power steering. The second time I was driving down the interstate at 70mph and it went out, not good. I was able to get it safely back to my sister's home and did not move it again until I took it straight to the dealership today, in which time it went out again. All this with 4085 total miles on my car at this time. I believe this should be covered under the same recall as the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette. My vehicle is available for inspection if someone would like to come out.

Rear back up camera becomes unresponsive randomly, causing it to become unsafe when backing up.
We were driving 55 and the car stalled. This has happened several times. Been at dealer and the codes show fine they replaced what they thought was issue and it still does this. Very scary.

I cannot believe the Corvette does not show that the alternator does not show that the car is not charging. I have a thirty year old Corvette that will show you when the alternator does not show the car has an under performing alternator. If you do not have it showing on the display it will not show you that the alternator is defective. You have to show it on the display you never know you have a problem. It is an issue that is not a problem unless you know. I bought a battery and it was the alternator. They need to do a software upgrade to show you when a system goes out. My 1992 Corvette show you when there is a problem. Pathtic support on the part of general motors.
I just bought a 2008 chevy Corvette convertible and parked in the garage. The next morning the garage has distinct smell of gas throughout the garage. If my heater to the house would have kicked on the house would have blown up. This is a safety issue which should be addressed by chevy. After researching the issue, it seems to be a common issue, which should be a recall. Even after moving it outside, when I get in the car it smells of gas.

This lead to an injury accident which totaled the car. I have documentation stating that the recall was fixed, but after I moved to germany with the army, the recall regularly activated the active handling when not needed (e. G parking) but then when we started slipping, the active handling did not engage and we crashed, totaling the car. The airbags did not engage even though the car played pinball on both sides of the autobahn. If we were going any faster, we would have died.

When driving, car will falsely and intermittently get random error codes on bus module; resulting in a false frunk or front latch service warning under body control module code b1a5f or u164f for gateway. Chevy has found electrical connectors for car built in Nov/Dec 2023 which have plastic or bits inside the connectors making the electrical system have issues. However, even after addressing those faulty connectors they now think its also related to bad software. No resolution after 8 months of attempted repairs, and chevy forums show other people with the bus errors around same build time of end 2023. If you are driving car when these errors randomly pop in or out, the car will go into reduced power and speed limit of 25 mph as it thinks the front trunk latch is open (when its closed). If on a highway, this can result in death or major accident. Multiple safety concerns go unaddressed by chevy since early 2024 reports of issues.

Normal driving conditions while in z-mode in moderate traffic, an audible bang was heard, however there was no immediate issue. A few minutes later the check engine light, abs, traction control and other lights appear on dash. Once lights appear, brakes fail and no longer slow the car down, the gas pedal only revved the car and could no longer accelerate. The car was still on and “driving”, I just didn’t have acceleration or brakes. I put my turn signal on and eventually was able to safely pull off the road and stop the vehicle utilizing neutral and the emergency parking brake. I was in genuine fear of crashing due to not having brakes or acceleration and felt that if the parking brake and/or neutral failed, then I’d have to crash to stop the vehicle. Not having brakes or acceleration put myself, my passenger, and every vehicle around me when it occurred at risk of injury. This has occurred twice in less than 1 year of ownership with this vehicle and I’ve taken it to two dealerships, mike reichenbach Chevrolet and rick hendrick Chevrolet. When it first occurred in December 2023, I was also in z-mode in light traffic, after it occurred, I drove slowly to the dealership with the hazard lights on. The second time I brought it to a dealership was after the first dealership couldn’t find the cause nor replicate the issue. The codes were cleared by the first dealership, but the car was still operating roughly and not as designed. The third time, in July 2024, it was brought to rick hendrick Chevrolet where the service invoice says “good possibility the aftermarket gps unit plugged into the dlc port is shorting out the vehicle communication circuits and causing intermittent electrical issues. May be also causing battery drain issue. ” the device referred to is called bouncie, I got it after this first occurred and the service team there is blaming both of these occurrences on the device. No repair was performed as the issue couldn’t be replicated.

On July 1st, I had a defect in the electrical system of my Corvette nearly causing a major accident with several cars and trucks due to a immediate and unexpected loss of engine and propulsion. I was driving about 75 mph on highway in busy traffic. Car randomly and without any human input - flashed a false alarms for an open hood, although the hood was actually latched and perfectly closed. Alarms stated "close hood now, speed limited to 25 mph". Due to the fault, the car lost all ability to accelerate and quickly lost speed. As the car was going 75 at time of the alarm, the car quickly dropped speeds without any brake lights due to the false fault. I could not accelerate to keep safe speed to get to the breakdown lane. The car immediately would not respond. The semi truck and cars behind me nearly rear ended me, which I had to quickly move lanes to avoid. The new lane change resulted in other cars barely missing and all coming to a screeching halt while my car rapidly decelerated <25 mph on the busy freeway. When the fault occurred - the hood was mechanically closed and fault went away just by restarting the car/engine. Issue occurred 10:11 am on July 1 very terrifying event, but it has not yet reoccurred over past 2 days since first observed. I am reporting this as it was nearly a major accident and luckily no one was injured.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the headlights were flickering and then became inoperable. The fuse box was melted. There was smoke detected from underneath the hood. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 14v251000 (electrical system, exterior lighting). The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuse box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed the contact that the part was no longer produced. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I got locked in my car while a software update was taking place. I was running errand on a very hot day, I went to exit the car and the infotainment system did not shut off like usual, on the info screen was a very dim notice to start a software update, I hit the start now button, exited the car, did my business in the bank, went back to my car, used the electric button to open the door, got in and closed the door. When in the car I tried to start it. . . It would not start. After checking around the car was dead as if someone had pulled the battery out, no lights, no onstar, no power window and worst of all the electric door open button would not open the door! it was a very warm day, sunny and over 90deg f. Fortunately I remembered the manual door open lever, someone new to the car would have been trapped in the car for as long as 15min in the sweltering hot interior. There is no strong warnings for this, owners manual says nothing about being locked in, people on the forums for Corvette say that the warning in on the info screen but you have to advance a random screen to see it. . . . Scary moment for sure.
Electrical door button is getting stuck and the door is locked from the inside. The switch has been replaced by authorized dealer once already. (July 19 2023) 4,783 miles on the vehicle at the time of first issue. From checking other forums, this is a common problem for this year vehicle.
When I start my vehicle, the steering wheel locking system does not disengage and the steering wheel stays locked.

The infotainment system (radio) on my 2017 Chevrolet grand sport Corvette suddenly and without warning malfunctioned/failed on or around in 2023, whereby the eight inch screen on the infotainment system went completely black/blank, whereby my radio produced no audio sound nor allowed me the ability to view the screen (on the infotainment system) while placing my vehicle in reverse-which is very useful when having to place the vehicle in reverse. I personally believe that during the period (2023 thru most of 2024) in which my infotainment system was not working properly, that my safety and/or the safety of others was placed at risk due to being unable to use/view the rearview camera while placing my car in reverse. In August of 2024, I reached out to Chevrolet customer assistance center (by writing a letter) this matter and requesting financial assistance to repair my infotainment system. I submitted verification with my letter, that the matter I was writing about was "a well known issue/problem" as reported by Corvette magazine (which I subscribe to) and with computer prints/verification(s) of discussions in Corvette enthusiasts internet chat rooms, whereby several Corvette owners also reported having issues/problems with their infotainment system malfunctioning. Chevrolet customer assistance center replied to my letter and agreed to reimburse me for half of the $1700 required to repair the radio/infotainment system. . Genesis Chevrolet in eastpointe, mi. Completed the repair of my infotainment system.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that the low-beam headlight failed to function properly. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the fuse box to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 14v251000 (electrical system, exterior lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,458.
Happened twice within a day. The main electric fan on the radiator stopped working and the car overheated. Once at idle, was able to shut the car off safely. The second time, there was traffic on the highway, and the fan stopped working and the car started to overheat. Had to shut the car off and wait for it to cool down on the side of the road. When I got the car home, I found the electrical connector of the fan to be melted and fused together. There was no indicator that the fan would stop running prior to the engine overheating.
Something is wrong where it will stall out when you start driving. Soon as I put the car in gear and start rolling forward it dies. And I’ve looked online and it’s quite common.

The vehicle fails to keep the engine cool when idling or traveling at low speeds and in low gears. When at a stop light, the engine temperature quickly increases to unsafe temperatures, and has even had to be shut off and went up in steam from the engine. Coolant level was and is still full. I believe the cooling fans fail to stay on, maybe due to being turned off on the highways, and therefore fail to turn back on after exiting the highway.

Infotainment screen intermittanly flickers or goes black during the backing of the vehicle. Rear backup camera shows object on screen when in reverse, then flickers or goes black. Cannot see blind spot with rear or side mirrors, such as children on sidewalk directly behind the vehicle where not in view of side mirrors and too low to see in the rear view. Seems to be a known problem with chevy Corvette's and the problem with screen flickering or black out.

This is a 2023 Corvette 70th anniversary edition. Button to open door from drivers side doesn’t activate, needing to pull manual handle. Electric button to open hard top convertible doesn’t activate. Vehicle taken to dealer and inspected. According to inspection results, there is major components which controls these functions was ordered and received. Vehicle is at the dealer for repair.
One week ago received a manufacturer ota update to install in vehicle which I always download. A few days later I drove vehicle to store and turned vehicle off in parking lot for 5 minutes. Upon returning to vehicle, unable to start vehicle. Vehicle display provided message “battery low start vehicle” but vehicle would not start. Tow company attempted to jump vehicle multiple times but not successful. Vehicle had to be towed for service. My vehicle is always stored in garage and plugged into battery charger when not in use and should not be dead. Vehicle information system displays message “service brake system” and “service transmission unable to shift soon”. Vehicle unable to operate and awaiting scheduled service at dealership.
I purchased my 2005 Corvette c6 from a used car dealership on 4/30/2023. The car was fine for the first week. The second week I began getting a lot of error codes specifically: service active handling system service traction control service abs shocks inoperative service fuel system. At times it would go into limp mode. I would find a safe place to pull off. I would shut the car off and it would not restart. I would check the relays under the hood and the passenger floorboard. Eventually it would restart and drive again until the next time. I have replaced the following components: battery cables with factory replacement new battery, twice new high output alternator and a new belt. These items solved the many codes. Now I get service traction system, and the traction control shuts off. When this happened last, I got a p0101 maf sensor error. Replaced the maf sensor 8/13. Has not happened as of yesterday. I have checked all of the grounds, added a new ground system called the big three. I should not have to put all this work into a well documented issue not only in the c6 but other models.
Attempted to start my Corvette. My Corvette was in the my garage battery was dead. Called for a jump start. When mechanic arrived, I got into the driver's seat. When he applied electric power to the car battery, interior lights flickered, radio came on, tach needle and other needles cycled and my electric power adjustable seat went full forward and the electric power adjustable steering wheel went full down. This happened in seconds. The engine was not running. I thought I was going to be crushed by the steering wheel. I have a small frame. If I were a bigger person, I would have sustained a crushing chest injury or death. With the seat full forward and the steering wheel full down with great difficult I wiggled my way out of my Corvette. My Corvette is scheduled for diagnostic / repair on 11 Apr 23 at criswell Chevrolet in thurmont, MD. I have notified gm customer support and provided this narrative to them on 6 Apr 23.
Driver display not working. (cable issue) known issue with the c7 Corvette. Can't see navigation, radio display, backup camera display and car settings. Started out intermittant then permanent.
The reverse camera works intermittently, but fails more often than it works properly. Able to reset by shutting car off and leaving door open for 90 seconds, then restarting. Works for that ignition/drive cycle but then becomes unreliable again after next startup. Car is a week old. Have not brought to dealer yet for warranty claim, however as this is a required safety system I am reporting it.
The vehicle has had rear and front camera failure within 72 hours of me buying it (91 miles); and I let my sales guy know, we decided to bring it by the dealership one day when it is malfunctioning. I got it to act up that Saturday 3/18/23 with 123 miles, and it showed 2 dtc's (b1a62 and u0131), but with a limited staff, they had no one to look at it. Still not upset, I said whatever and figured I would just drive it and bring it back during the weekdays it happened again this morning on the way to work, and I took it right in; they were able to scan it again and show the fault codes. This is where it gets really upsetting; the tool/adapter they need to test the av cable is showing June 16th ship date. I sell cars for a living also, and this is something I would never expect a customer to just deal with and wait. I literally can't drive the car in and out of my driveway without the camera system. My wife almost ran into the door because the camera does not work. My fear is a child could be hit or run over, and I can't believe general motors is ok with a new vehicle being sold, failing immediately after delivery, and having no way to fix the problem. I have contacted someone at gm corporate, and they also instructed me to wait for diagnostic. This is a concern on other Corvettes, and not the first instance of this happening.
The ignition key started the car but the car continued to stall out when the clutch was released failing to propel the car leaving me stranded with a running(ideling) but non functional vehicle. I could not move the vehicle and it was subject to traffic crash. I need to have the vehicle retrieved by the dealer for repait. It is non-operable. There weree no warnings to me on the vehicle that the p roblem existed.

The body control module has failed and there are no replacement parts available except used parts. The bcm is hard coded with the VIN. If you use a bcm from another car, certain safety systems are deactivated such as the air bags. The bcm is central to the electronic architecture so all other systems are at risk. The unit can be responsible for the car not starting, the headlights not working, the power windows and door locks failing, or in my case the active suspension not functioning. Since bcm's are widely used, this is a looming major safety issue for the nation because gm quit making new ones, no one else makes these parts, no one can repair the units. I know a number of c6 Corvette owners are using used parts which deactivates the air bags and the security system.

Chevy c7 Corvettes have an issue with the center screen that project he backup camera. Due to the screen retracts, the cabling wears out and causes the camera to flicker or go blank. It seems the part to repair has been discontinued. This represents a safety hazard for all c7 Corvettes since the part is label discontinued and the camera is much needed to back to car up safely without causing injury or property damage.
The entire dash went dark, there was no display of the odometer, symbols for system ie lights, oil pressure, tachometer, and no display on the screen where the radio or navigation selections are made. This began upon car being started. Turning off engine and restarting did not resolve. Car was drivable but not safely as speed could not be monitored.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated while driving at speeds above 25 mph, the abs system failed, causing the front brakes to activate without the driver depressing the brake pedal. During the failure the active handling warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the active handling control module wiring harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. Additionally, while operating the vehicle the low beam headlights inadvertently turned off. The mechanic diagnosed that the wiring harness for the exterior lighting needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 14v251000 (electrical system, exterior lighting). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 50,000.
This 2022 Corvette is dangerous and could kill someone on the highway the fronk or front storage area opens up the front hood automatically while driving this car. The car can just sit in the garage the fronk storage area opens up automatically by itself. Walk by the car lights start flashing touch the car lights flash etc. It also appears to be an electrical problem with the car. I noticed in 2020 people complained that who owned new Corvettes they were having similar problems with the front hood opening up while driving down the highway. This could cause a disaster on the highway and lives and many lives be lost in a major accident.
