1 Battery problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 07/27/2011

Both hid low beam lights turn off simultaneously while driving at night. Could not reactivate by turning switch off and on. All other lights functioned so I managed to use fog lights to continue the rest of the way home. Tested the low beams next morning, no issue. Tried them later in the day and they would not work. No accident, no wet weather and battery is only a couple months old. Heading to dealership to get resolved.

2 Battery problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 04/16/2011

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 to 40 mph the vehicle would suddenly stall without any warning. Within a few minutes, he was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who advised him that the battery line had frayed. The vehicle was repaired, but the component was unknown. Upon leaving the dealer the vehicle stalled again. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance.

3 Battery problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 10/13/2010

We had a 2006 Corvette on our car lot. It had a dead battery when we got it. We put in a new battery and took it to the local gm dealer to have the door locks reprogrammed. It sat there for months, and the battery would often go dead, because as I understand it, the electronics drain the batteries in those cars while they sit, shut off. One day we went to jump the battery, and I crawled into the trunk with the only key to the car, which fit under the trunk, because the doors wouldn't open with the remote. After the jump I moved the car into another parking spot, and found that I couldn't get out. I happened to know about the cable for the door located in the back of the trunk, so I dove into the trunk and pulled it, but it didn't work. I then tried the sunroof switch, or what I thought was the sunroof switch to no avail. I went back to the trunk and found a trunk release that popped the back hatch. It worked. I did not test every system in the car. The car was running, so it's possible that the low voltage problem might have cleared up on it's own. But I wonder, what if I would have shut off the car? what if nobody knew I was there? what if the car was on fire or in water? what if I was sick, disabled, or injured, and couldn't get to the lever in the back seat? what if it was an extremely hot day? what if I didn't have anything available to break out a window? the key to the trunk and the remote were locked in the car with me. The person on the outside stood there helpless. So, I googled "trapped in a Corvette with electronic door locks", and found that it has happened to others, including a six year old. I hope you will investigate this problem further.

4 Battery problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

Car drains battery with no explanation. Dealer can not diagnose. You can not even take this car out if you are going to be gone longer than an hour for fear it will be dead when you try to restart it. Vehicle is on its 3rd battery. Last time it sat for a week it was so dead it had to be towed to the dealer and jump started from underneath the car while it was on a lift. Gm covered all costs even though the car is not in warranty? something is going on and there needs to be a recall. I see this complaint over and over from 05 owners. My vehicle only has 10k miles on it because my wife and I are concerned we will be stranded if we take it anywhere.

5 Battery problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 10/13/2008

I have had several incidents of dead battery syndrome (dbs) since I bought my 2005 Corvette in October 2008. The battery has been replaced at least 4 times. I have bought this to the dealers and gm's attention and they say that there is nothing wrong with the car. They refuse to acknowledge that this condition affects very many 2005 manual transmission cars with much data on the internet on forums and blogs. Many of us have found alternative methods to keep the car operable. Gm needs to finally acknowledge this condition and issue a fix.

6 Battery problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 06/28/2008

In light of all the gas pedal problems we have seen lately, I would like to share one which I encountered two years ago on my 1999 Corvette. Being a professional engineer, I was able to pin-point the problem to the brake pedal much better than my dealer. My local chevy dealer wanted me to replace the car's battery, since that was the first code he saw when he scanned the computer. Naturally, the car didn't need a battery so I drove away from the dealer. The symptom was at any time the car would pop-on the engine trouble light and immediately slow down. The car could only be driven up to 20 mph. This happened about six times without incident. I could reset my computer, but the issue soon returned. I replaced the electronic gas pedal assembly and the problem was fixed.

2006 Corvette dead battery syndrome. Car after sitting in the driveway for more than 7 days will not start in the cold weather(under 45 degree). Bring it to the dealer they charged the battery and cannot reproduce the issue. It happens more than 3 times already. Sometime I have the car towed to the dealership.

Failure Date: 07/31/2007

Dead battery syndrome; 2005 Corvette with intermittent dead battery.

9 Battery problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 11/26/2006

Own a 2006 chevy Corvette. Electrical problems started after 5 months of owning it and have continued to date. It has been at the dealership more then at our home. It has been towed in 8 times for electrical problems. Vehicle goes completely dead. Dealership has replaced the battery 3 times and the vehicle still is dead. Drove to work within 4 hours the vehicle couldn't return home. Dealer swore it was fix on 5/29/2008 at 3:30 but by 4pm the dealership called the vehicle was dead. They have replaced computer modules, brakes switches and batteries. Car went into the shop on 5/5/2008 and still is in the shop on 5/30/08. Problem started within 5 months of buying the vehicle. Now we own a vehicle the has been towed in dead 8 times, in the shop for over 45 days total and still dead and still no resolution.

10 Battery problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 11/14/2005

Car was shut down as per instructions. . . With gear in reverse and hand brake on. After only 6 days of inactivity the car was completely dead. I had to gain entry via the emergency hatch access. Battery showed zero volts.

11 Battery problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 10/21/2005

Dead battery syndrome. After setting for a few days the battery on this car drains to a point of not being able to start the car. There is a very detailed shut down sequence for this 6 speed manual transmission car that seems to be the culprit. However, I have had the car to the local dealership 3 times and they have yet to be able to find the problem. I have been stranded 5 times in 10 months because of this problem.

12 Battery problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 11/27/2004

Dt: the contact owns a 2005 chevy Corvette. On November 27 2004 the vehicle would not let them get into the car and the alarm would not go off. Also, the computer in the car would tell them that there was no tire pressure and the tires were on the vehicle and the computer stated there was no psi. They had to climb into the hatch to open the door because the door would not open with the key. On April 5, 2005 the dealership replaced the battery and it did correct the problem until April 12,2005 at that time the vehicle was towed back to the dealership and they stated basically it was the battery and the electrical system same type of problem again this time. April 16, 2005 the vehicle had to be jumped started. On April 20, 2005 the vehicle was towed to the dealership because they could not get into the vehicle, the battery voltage was showing zero, and the psi on three tires were showing that they did not have tires on the vehicle. On may 23, 2005 with only 2700 miles on the vehicle while driving down the highway the serpentine belt broke, it over heated, the engine had blew and the vehicle had to be towed. Around July 3rd or 4th with less than 3000 miles, the vehicle would not shift correctly and it would automatically stop because it would come out of cruise control, the computer would give them strange error messages. When they arrived to the dealership that is when the hatch on the back had came open by it self and it had happened twice before this but they thought they had maybe accidentally opened it. On July 12, 2005 the vehicle was picked up from the dealership the passenger driver side window molding was messed up. The contact told them to keep the vehicle until it was fixed. They have noticed numerous complaints on the NHTSA website with the same type of problems. Also, on the vehicle they have been unable to put a full fuel tank of gasoline in the vehicle since date of purchase. Service invoices are available if needed.

13 Battery problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 04/06/2003

The battery will drain after 5 days after being parked. I have been told by john hall Chevrolet that this is normal due to the excessive power drain that the Corvette computers put on the battery. This despite 3 "charge system fault" messages that have come up on the display screen.

15 Battery problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 09/08/2001

My factory-installed delco battery started leaking acid from the positive terminal recently. I didn't realize the extent of the leak until I decided to replace the battery. Upon removing my old battery, I noticed the acid had leaked underneath the tray. I did some research in the internet, and learned that many Corvettes (c5's) suffer the same problem. Some owners spent thousands of dollars in repairs. Gm will cover the repairs only if the car is under warranty. It seems to me that delco is producing a car battery that can potentially damage a car by acid leak and cause an extreme human health hazard. If sulfuric acid, which is contained in these batteries, comes in contact with skin, it withdraws water, leaving a black charred carbon residue in place of living tissue. The higher the concentration, the greater the danger. If sulfuric acid comes in contact with large areas of human tissue, death can occur. If acid fumes are inhaled, serious lung and bronchial damage can occur. I believe this issue should be investigated for its potential health hazard. Gm and delco should be liable for all damages as a result of these batteries.

16 Battery problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 09/28/2000

The vehicle stalled on the freeway. There was negative battery terminal and the cable shorted. The engine over heated while driving due to the cooling hose had blown. On another occasion the engine lost power while driving due to fuel injectors, blown exhaust valves, and the push rod was bent. Mr scc.
