1 Steering Column problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/21/2019

The steering column adjustment lock does not lock properly. When I set the wheel where I want it drops to the next setting and while driving it drops on its own. This makes me swerve, sometimes at hwy. Speeds.

3 Steering Column problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/25/2018

I own a 2011 chevy Cruze. It has 67,000 miles. About a month ago, I started to notice a feeling of my steering taking on a mind of its own. So just last week, I went and got new brakes, rotors, tires, front end alignment, balance. Cost a pretty penny, but needed for safety. I had them check for front end issues that might be related to steering problems. They said the front end was tight. Tyrods, ball joints, axle, etc. This confirmed to me, that the steering issue was from the steering column. There is also a crunching sound in the steering, when turning wheel from a parked position. Well the still has steering issues. On the straight away, it feels like the tires are independently turning. I then have to turn the steering wheel to compensate and correct. This in turn causes, over turning. The tires and the steering wheel are not working together. This makes me so scared to drive this car. I have a small passanger, daily. I also drive on a 50 mile trip once or twice a week. Please help.

5 Steering Column problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

The steering started moving up and in a locked position now the steering wheel and column will come only to your knees. I almost crashed the car when putting on the brakes because the steering wheel goes to the left. Not syre if the air bag will go off as needed. Steering wheel when putting on the brake sends car moving to the left. The steering wheel is able to control it can be moved by just a little movement of your hand.

6 Steering Column problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving at any speed and attempting to make a turn, the steering column locked. The dealer repaired the steering gear. The failure recurred and all the instrument panel indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

8 Steering Column problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/26/2015

At low speeds, when turning, there is a grinding sensation in the steering wheel and can be felt in the floorboard. After taking this to the dealer twice, I was told it was the steering column. My extended warranty does not cover a "noise" and gm will not cover an issue if there is an extended warranty. I was told that changing out a $400+ part might not make a difference, and the noice could return again.

9 Steering Column problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/12/2015

Since March 2015, I have been experiencing issues with and I have video evidence while in failure mode, of what I believe to be failures of the body computer(s) in this vehicle. The dashboard displays have been going on and off under a wide variety of driving situations, and while sitting at idle. They fault when the vehicle is simply driving down the highway. More often I notice it when utilizing turn signals, hazard lights, and breaking. During these faults, the center information display for the hvac and entertainment will frequently turn off. This kills the radio. It at times kills the hvac systems and the turn signals (at least the noise for the turn signal indicators). At times, the center display above the steering column will go black and then display a message about the stabilitrak having failed and requiring it to be checked or the abs needing to be serviced. Then it returns to normal mode. The frequency has increased to every time I drive the vehicle. Also on at least 3 occasions the abs has actually failed. On one of those occasions, I hit another vehicle while parking. Thankfully there was no damage to either vehicle. When connecting the vehicle to a diagnostic device, no issues are indicated. I'm in the military in germany where the roads and highways are extremely hilly and it snows heavily. I'd rather not die in an accident before this issue is rectified.

10 Steering Column problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/29/2014

A squeak has developed in the steering column. Although gm has received complaints about this, they have done nothing to issue any recalls. There are tso's on this since other owners have complained but they do nothing. No car with 23,000 miles should have bad bushings or other problems with steering unless there are defects.

11 Steering Column problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 06/19/2014

When traveling down the interstate on multiple occasions the steering column becomes 'stuck' or 'sticky' in the aspect that it requires extra exertion of force to move it in either directions. This results in the car swerving and on more than one occasion almost wrecking.
