1 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/10/2019

*engine fire* 4/10/19. . . Esperanza hathaway was in the car and it was idling at the sandy, utah mcdonalds parking lot when smoke and smell came from engine. She put out fire with water. I arrived 15-20 minutes later to help. I inspected engine compartment and did a visual check only to find burnt wiring. There was no other known issues and verified no fluids spilled. I called the insurance company and they had towed to riverton Chevrolet to work with Chevrolet and have known engine fire risks. 2014 Chevrolet cruise case# 95243938936 (gm) VIN: 1g1pa5sh4e7460393 4/11/19 insurance company towed to riverton motors. Riverton motors invoice# 6209533 / 6206861/1 4/11/19 the day after the engine fire, I received a call from fred uribe (service rep. ) from the riverton motors service center. He stated that there was oil all over and it needed repair. I told him that the car was in for an engine fire and I never had an oil or any car leaks. He told me it would be ~$600 to repair the oil cooler leak and it needed to be repaired before the engine fire issue. A few days later fred called and said it was actually a transmission fluid leak. They diagnosed the fire as being started from the transmission fluid leak? the invoice wrongly stated that I reported a leak needing repair and not the fire I reported!!! I informed riverton motors that there was an engine fire and not any leaks. Invoice incorrectly stated: customer stated vehicle has a coolant leak, later stated the customer stated vehicle has an oil leak. And then vehicle found the radiator leaking. The invoice did not state the actual reason for the service was an engine fire!!!! state farm insurance claim: 44-8388-q93 amount:  $148. 78 comprehensive - fire 5/20/19 reported to gm/machella engine fire 2014 Chevrolet cruise case# 95243938936 6/10/19 reported to NHTSA.

2 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/03/2013

After changing oil filter, oil sprayed in engine compartment approximately 10 minutes into drive, causing a fire in the engine compartment. All occupants were safe, but the damage is expensive. Wiring harnesses, as well as master cylinder were melted. The top mounted filter is a pleated cartridge that snaps into a threaded plastic oil filter cap. A blue o-ring, included with the filter, slips over the plastic oil filter cap, past the threads. The issue seems to that two "grooves" exist after the threads towards the end by the flange. If the o-ring is placed in the wrong location (I. E. All the way to the end) this provides an inadequate seal, posing a fire hazard as described above. Correct procedure is to apply the blue o-ring on the second to last groove immediately after the threads. Basically, if after tightening the oil filter assembly the blue o-ring is visible, it's in the wrong location. Source: local dealer. This is not related to the plastic shield modification advised in a previous service bulletin from gm regarding the 2011-12 model years.

3 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/19/2013

Car towed from serpentini to progressive since the repair that progressive completed a week prior did not fix the existing problem. Car shutting off and not starting. Progressive wiring harness to ubec has bad connection due to ubec and wiring harness connection stripped out, necessary to replace complete harness. Removed ubec, replaced fuse block, main body harness, required r&r of battery and tray, ebcm, master cylinder and brake booster, dash components removed/loosened to remove brake/gas pedal bracket assembly (harness grommet installed between bracket and firewall), r&r of trunk panels, complete interior including rear seats, lowering headliner. Replaced brake booster pushrod clip and rear seat side bolster clip with repair. Gm paid for the cost of this repair. Additional electrical issues continue with car. Will add an additional complaint.
