5 Catalytic Convertor problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 04/02/2021

My car randomly shuts off. It stutters, stalls, jerks, then dies. No check engine light comes on. We have replaced the O2 sensors 3 times, mass air flow sensor, exhaust manifold, intake and exhaust valves twice, alternator, battery twice, spark plug packs twice, throttle body, and catalytic convertor. My car still stutters, stalls, rough idles, jumps while stopped at red lights, and randomly shuts off with no warning. Recently it has been slow to accellerate as well. I was unaware of the oil consumption issue until this weekend. My car says it is 40% oil, it is not due for another oil change for another 1000 miles. After learning about the oil consumption issue I checked the oil, via the dipstick, and my car was bone dry! I never received a low oil warning. I am assuming this is why my car has begun acting crazy in the last year. Unfortunately the chevy dealership never informed me of any oil issues so I have had to contact gm directly, because now my car is at 126,000 miles!!!.

6 Catalytic Convertor problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 03/16/2021

Vehicle is using almost a quart of oil every 6-700 miles. Took it in for recall n192268180 and asked dealer about oil consumption. Dealer stated that it is part of n192291100 for pistons and rings and would be $4900 to repair. I opened a case with gm as the n192291100 was released in Jan 2020 and ended July 28th 2020 for my model. This during a global pandemic. Gm has offered $482 and change towards the repair. The car is not leaking oil so it has to be going out the tailpipe which will cause excess emissions as well as damage parts like the O2 sensor and catalytic convertor.

7 Catalytic Convertor problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 08/26/2019

Car was dying when I tried to pull out onto the road, city street from a stop sign. Was almost hit. My grandaughter is just learning to drive and I am scared to death to let her drive it . Running after key taken out, running very ruff. Check engine light kept going on & off as well as stabli trac warning. Smelled like catalytic convertor burning took to dealer to have diagosed and they said high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. Engine had high content of fuel scanned and had excessive amaount of rich codes and misfire codesthat there was fuel getting in my oil said there was a recall but not on my VIN. Saw other complaints same problem that were told VIN wasn't right. Cost me $500. 00 to fix bought this car brand new and had to get a new engine at 62,000 and new pistons & cracked manifold replaced at 102,000. I had taken the car to dealer a few years ago for same issue and engine light had gone off and they said they could not find anything wrong. Out of warranty now and finally diagnosed the problem. Getting ready to buy 2 cars and I will never by another chevy or gm car again . Going with the foreigns. I think these cars are all lemons. I have seen others that were also told wrong VIN but same issue, needs investigated. I have already recieved invitation for class action suit on this darn car! really.
