The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle lunged and then started losing motive power with the engine running. The contact attempted to pull off the road however, the vehicle then accelerated independently. The contact stopped the vehicle, turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle lunged forward. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The local dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the exhaust manifold was cracked and that the oxygen sensors #1 and #2 needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle with the air condition activated, there was an abnormal exhaust fumes inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the exhaust manifold was faulty and needed to be replaced. The exhaust manifold was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

Car consumes entirely to much oil. Every week I am putting 2 quarts of oil in even after getting a fresh oil change. Engine is loud/rattling has been ever since I purchased the car. I have been putting money in this car since I purchased it. Now check engine light is on. Says I need a new timing from what I am being told that is basically a new engine. The radio goes out and comes back on, yesterday the volume on the radio was going up & down by itself. The main issue is a engine and the oil. There is no way this is a known issue with almost every compliant that I have seen so far and there has been no recall on this how insane. I will never purchase another car from gm again! the windshield wiper motor went out twice, this is a overall terrible engine and car. The car is loud when it is running and when you accelerate, turn the car all of the above. I had the muffler and some other things fixed and it's still loud, the noise is coming from the engine.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving, there was an abnormally strong exhaust odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there were several cracks to the exhaust manifold. The contact called the local dealer edd rogers Chevrolet Buick, llc. , (674 w bockman way, sparta, TN 38583) and was informed that the repair would be an out of pocket expense since the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,200.

It is widely known that this model and year car, 2013 chevy Equinox. Has a mass oil consumption issue due to faulty pistons, along w many other years and makes by gm. I have to check oil every 500 miles; and change it every 2000 miles. Due to the excessive heat created from this faulty engine I've had to replace solenoids many times, the exhaust manifold has cracked twice, but most people that have these cars end up with a blown timing chain and broken engine. I'm simply waiting for my engine to cease working while adding oil vigorously. There is a class action lawsuit that only reimburses people with critical criteria and very few are accepted. The issues are clearly visible and nothing is being done for millions of people that spent their hard earned money on a broken vehicle. I bought my car before any information of this issue was reported. Now slowly some attention is being brought to this problem but mainly from the owners of these vehicles.

My vehicle has consumed more oil then I can even phantom, traditionally oil is supposed to last 3k miles and when you regularly change it you shouldn't notice much consumption if any at all, this vehicle not only consumes on average a quart of oil every 500 - 1k miles but I am also never alerted that my oil is low. This is dangerous as typically with synthetic oils coming along and the new recommendation being 7500k miles before oil change I would be completely dried up if I did not check my dip stick regularly. I actively see smoke coming from the tail pipe when leaving a red light and can smell the burn when exiting the vehicle, which can't be good for the catalytic converter. My car will have rough/surging idle at red lights, has even shut off at one point completely even. I have had to replace O2 sensors and I continue to add 1-2 quarts of oil between oil changes to keep up with the excessive consumption. There was a lawsuit claiming this problem only effected 2010-2013 Equinox however I know numerous Equinox owners with models newer like myself with these same issues. Gm should expand ending with model year 2017 and stop hiding behind the bush.

Engine was burning oil at an alarming rate, was starting to stall whenever the vehicle came to a stop while in drive, and was louder than normal. Sent vehicle to the dealership and was informed the pvc manifold needed to be replaced. Was also told this is a common problem with this vehicle. The total cost was $812. 00 with parts and labor to replace. The car has under 100k miles and apparently gm will not cover the cost in anyway. Was also told this issue could have caused my engine to blow if not caught in enough time.

My vehicle has been having issues for a couple weeks with rough idle and my rpms reving when I let off the gas pedal. On 12/26/20, my vehicle stalled while driving it. Upon restarting it, it was making a loud noise, but no dash lights were on. I had it towed to a shop to see what was going on. The shop informed me that it had lost all of the oil due to a busted main seal. He told me that he had a bulletin that this was a common problem in my vehicle. The seal is busted because the design of my car allows moisture into the manifold which then freezes and busts the seal. It is costing me $1500 to fix the seal and clean the moisture from from the manifold. I am told that there is no way to prevent this from happening again. I am very scared that I will be driving down the road and this will happen again. I have talk to chevy, but nothing has been resolved.

My 2013 chevy Equinox started burning oil around 80,000 miles and when I brought in for oil change to chevy dealership the service advisor said some cars burn oil. No big deal they said just keep checking oil and fill if low. So did that for years and now over 120k (170k now) I received letter for recall if I'm under 120k bring car in to fix. But now I'm over 120k miles they won't fix it. So now car is getting worse by the mile and blowing grey smoke out my muffler. I can't believe they won't fix my problem. I should of had them note in comments about my burning oil issue. I now have to put 1 quart in every 1000 miles and the quote from chevy dealership to fix is over $4,000. Even my extended warranty won't cover it saying it's a gm recall and they don't fix when gm should fix it. I have always changed oil every 6,000 miles and paper back up to prove it but that doesn't matter I guess. What a shame because I love my Equinox but now gm won't fix it I probably won't buy another gm car. So still making payments to gm financial for a car that's not work what I owe and with this issue the value of car is next to zero. Need car to make money so I have to fix it.

I took my vehicle to the dealer because the check engine light came on, they had to replace the catalytic converter (by special coverage adjustment 15810), however the technician indicated that I had a cracked exhaust manifold. . . Which was not covered by the special coverage. It is crazy that an exhaust manifold fails! it seems to be a defective part and the technician said it may have been caused by the extra pressure due to the clogged catalytic converter. Gm refused to reinburse this service.

I won a 2014 chevy Equinox and I started to smell exhaust but my car passed emissions. Found out later this engine is known for cracking in the exhaust manifold. Now my vehicles engine is really loud, the smell of exhaust is really bad when idling and driving, also now my kids and myself are have breathing problems. I would like to get this fixed as soon as possible for my families safety.

A year and half ago I lost all of my oil and it blew out my timing chain. I was told that I have bad piston rings and that the ecotec engines with that year wear out very fast. I did not have the money to get the piston rings replaced so I told the mechanic to just replace everything but the piston rings. He just said that I need to watch the oil level and that I could add some if I started to burn oil again. Another year went by and as I was driving on a freeway, I got an error message on my dashboard saying the engine was "powering down" and I started loosing speed very fast. I pulled into a gas station and checked my oil level and sure enough, I had very little oil. So I poured some in and that seem to be ok. A couple weeks later, my Equinox started to smoke when I was driving on the highway. I pulled to the side and popped the hood to see oil spilling onto the manifold. I let the car cool down and added some more oil so I could get to work. A CO-worker of mine helped me investigate and noticed that the timing chain had ate through the guarding which caused the oil to spill out of the top of the guarding.

While driving, at 55mph my check engine light came on without warning and the dash showed "service stabilitrak" and the vehicle suddenly reduced speed to around 30mph before I could apply the gas. I immediately too the vehicle to monro muffler and brake for service. When I arrived, I was informed that the vehicle had no oil. I performed regular oil changes on this vehicle. There was no indication about low oil pressure, the vehicle did not overheat. The engine now needs to be replaced.

I was driving home from work on hwy 35 outside of dresser, WI and the car dash lights suddenly lit up and the car made a loud rattle and smelled like burning oil. There was no warning. I was 2 miles from home so I came straight home. We checked the oil and added 3 quarts of oil before taking it aproximately 2 miles to our mechanic. They checked the engine and confirmed the rattle was deep in the motor and the motor had blown. After inspection, they found that a small port in the intake manifold was clogged. This caused a pressure build up and the rear seal to blow. We were also then told they had been seeing a lot of this problem in chevy Equinox models. We had to replace the motor for a total cost of $5750. 51.

When I purchased this vehicle, I was not told that the engine was replaced. I have replaced the exhaust manifold 2 times. The dealer told me that there is metal fragments in my oil. That I need a new engine.

I got the vehicle April 12th,2019 driving to work vehicle check engine light came on then died. Oil change end of oct through midas. Towed to gm part of class action lawsuit berman b motors claim being denied as saying outside of sca date. They say sca date 12/14/2009 the vehicle wasn't made until June of 2010. I had it towed in 12/11/2019 they couldn't service immediately as rural area and other vehicles waiting before mine. Got vehicle out 1/28/2020. Claim was denied saying was outside sca date. Cause found by tech was engine damage due to excessive oil consumption. Many engine parts were replaced. Timing chain and valves were covered by gm when mgr of art hassler seen it was a Equinox then put back in line becauseof date the repair had to be done. 2300. 00 and over to get out. 2 service papers. No oil light came on. May still have debris in engine. Needs exhaust manifold,ball joints just had front brakes replaced and sensor that said all wheel drive is off feature at midas. Its always something. Gm should do something they should have approved my claim as it was in the shop the whole time from 12/11/2019 to 1/28/2020. They haven't offered any resolution or money off a new vehicle nothing. Something needs to be done. There are too many of us who have had the same exact problems. Thank you for your time.

I took my car into my local chevy dealership due to a check engine light, and it was determined that my exhaust manifold is cracked. After doing research online, this has been a long-term, ongoing issue with this model. As exhaust fumes can leak into the passenger compartment through the vent system (as I was informed by the service technician who told me of the problem), and it has apparently been an ongoing problem for years, I believe this is a safety issue that should merit a recall. My father, who has been an automotive mechanic for most of his life, has told me that this should not happen in a car that is only 6 years old. There would seem to be either a material, or design, flaw that is causing this to happen.

Exhaust manifold broke in two pieces. Same problem replaced before on a 2010 GMC acadia with the same 2. 4l. Exhaust manifolds are breaking in the exact same way at similar mileages. ~120,000 miles.

The vehicle was louding while running, I brought the vehicle to a local trusted mechanic. Upon inspection he determined that the manifold had a large crack in it causing excessive fuel consumption and the engine being loud. In discussing the issue with the mechanic he advised me that he fixed the same exact issue, cracked manifold, with another customers vehicle (same make and model 1 year newer). I called Chevrolet's customer service department and they basically said they are not aware of any issue with the manifold.

After having failing O2 sensors and catalytic converter replaced (under warranty), now the exhaust manifold is cracked and needs to be replaced (not under warranty). The O2 sensors and catalytic converter are attached to the exhaust manifold - could their failures be why there is a crack in the exhaust manifold!?!? my vehicle was making a very loud clattering sound when starting that would go away after a few minutes. I took it into the chevy dealership to have it looked at, they say the exhaust manifold is cracked, and exhaust is leaking out. At times I could smell exhaust from the inside of the vehicle. Only 110,000 miles on the vehicle.

The engine burns oil in between oil changes, the car shakes and stalls. The timing chain is broken, my husband replaced the exhaust manifold due to cracking. This car nickle and dimes you. I'm very shocked that this has not been a recall or anything. Now I am putting my self more in debt because I cannot afford to fix this issue. The car will need a new engine due to all the issues that have been happening. It stalled on me at a traffic light thank god my husband had followed me home from my job. I have read that this is not the first time this has happened. You would think gm would fix this issue. And the warranty that was given with my vehicle was up over a year ago. I tried trading the vehicle in and no dealership that I went to wanted it and they said Chevrolet Equinox's have this issue all the time. I wish I would have done more research before I got the car. I really loved the vehicle until all the stuff that has been happening to it.

I was on the highway and my engine started running rough. Then at the stop light it completely cut off and did not start. When I towed it to the mechanic he said there was no oil in my car. I am very good at my oil changes. The engine light did not give me warnings. I had to replace the gasket rings and other parts. $1900. Now the intake sensor has to be replaced for the second time. The check engine light will not go off. The mechanic says it is the same code and these engines are problematic. My car still cuts off very frequently at stop signs and lights. I I would like to also note that I had to replace the manifold. It cracked.

I have to replace throttle body because my car would just stall while driving in the middle of the road as well as replacing my muffler. Currently I have a new set of brakes that squeal like no tomorrow and my check engine light just came on giving me codes to replace 2 camshaft positioning solenoid actuator and finally the car it turning into a complete rust bucket. .

2013 2lt Equinox 2. 4l fwd 67000 miles issues: oil consumption issues, uses 2 qts + between oil changes, started at 50k miles, quoted over $2000 to replace pistons, rings, and timing chain (known issue on 2. 4l eco-tec motors, oil and filter always changed on or before time due with dexos 1 valvoline oil and ac delco filter). Possibility of breakdown, engine failure. Recommended replacement of clogged catalytic converter due to oil consumption issue: $800 faulty exhaust manifold starting at 55k miles, cracked, leaking fumes into passenger area, quoted $600 to replace plus recommend replacing engine mounts to prevent future failure: $1000 (known issue on 2. 4l eco-tec motors). Frequent headaches all winter from breathing in exhaust. Faulty transmission shifting starting at 50k miles, clunky shifting at low speeds, quoted over $600 for flush, inspection, sensors and seal replacement. Faulty front axle seal repaired at 55k miles for $300. Getting no where near the advertised and promised 32mpg (average of 22 mpg on hwy trips with eco mode on, 14 mpg in town). Lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon lemon!!!!!!!!!.

My vehicle has 63,000 miles and when I press the gas peddle and get no response at all. This mostly happens when the vehicle is cold, but it has happened other times as well. I was told to change the intake and exhaust camshafts solenoids, but this did not help. I changed the exhaust manifold, still did not help.

I bought my 2011 Equinox with 45k miles, 1. 5 years ago and have had many problems. Had to change the exhaust manifold, muffler and now I am having power issues. The car will stall when idling and lose power when driving. I had my 3 children in the car and when making a left turn at an intersection I lost all acceleration. Thank god there was not a car coming, because we would have been seriously hurt for it is normally a busy intersection. I still owe a lot of money on the vehicle and I am scared to drive it. This problem occurs often and I was told to change the cam shaft, which I did to no avail.

On January 21, 2019 my 2014 chevy Equinox's engine froze. I live in michigan. It was cold. The pressure built up in the engine and forced the rear main oil seal out. I ended up also having to replace my timing chain, manifold and several sensors. My truck has not been the same. Gm only issues bulletins for certain vehicle numbers but they are aware that the issue is effecting many more Equinox than originally thought. In fact, they switched the engine in 2015 due to the design flaw. Gm should be held responsible and they should be required to notify all owners of a 2010-2014 chevy Equinox. Recall14882 states many of the issues concerning the 2010-2014 chevy Equinox with the ecotec 2. 4l engine. Something need to be done about this. I travel over 25 miles to work. When my engine shut down and everything locked up, I was forced to wait for several hours for aaa to get a tow truck to me. My husband rescued me before I froze as nothing worked in my truck. Shame on gm as I know this truck is popular for women and mothers. Thank god my daughter was not with me during the incident. How dare gm allow us to drive around in a known faulty vehicle!.

Jan 21'st, 2019 my car stalled while driving. Pvc froze up in air intake and the orifice in my intake manifold was blocked. Blew rear main seal and lost all the oil in the car. Timing chain skipped when no oil pressure was present to keep timing chain tight. Service bulletin 14882. Gm says my VIN is not covered. I have photos and videos of proof of issue. I am from canada, so I used a ghost state and postal to get this complaint posted. I live in smithville, ontario, canada. Bring gm to come good for all this.

The pvc valve froze causing the rear main seal to blow. This has now caused damage to the engine. The engine needs to be replaced along with the exhaust manifold. The total cost from the dealer is quoted at $7200. 00. This vehicle also used large amounts of oil. I was driving on a city street when this occurred. The chevy only has 80,000 miles on it.

Exhaust manifold cracked. So many other complaints. Is there a service bulletin available for this issue?.

The engine is a 2. 4l ecotec engine which I've had to have the exhaust manifold repaired twice in basically two years but if you look on-line, this is a very common occurrence with this engine model. It starts off as a check engine fault code, related to exhaust or crankshaft position sensor but the issue tends to be a cracked exhaust manifold. While researching the issue on-line, I see numerous instances of this ecotec 2. 4l engine having this issue-and on different gm models of cars.

I purchased this vehicle new and have maintained the recommended service as advised. Vehicle has used excessive amounts of oil between oil changes for the last 2 years and no one can seem to find out where it is going. Listed problem date as today but this has been ongoing. . . . . Have also had to have the exhaust manifold replaced on 3 occasions and no one seems to be able to tell me why on that either? seems with all the complaints there should be a recall in the works!.

Immediately upon starting the car the cabin is filled with exhaust fumes while in park. The exhaust manifold is cracked as in many other 2010-2016 chevy Equinox. This is dangerous and unacceptable on these vehicles, as carbon monoxide is being pumped into the cabin.
