Computer chip malfunction, stability trac, smoke from exhaust with fumes released into the interior,, driver seat malfunction, and other that I cannot do it into words , this all happened when vehicle had 138,000 miles and also check engine light , fuel pump , ignition compartment, vehicle is a 2010 chevy Equinox all wheel drive ltz and also the awd does not work lights flickering multiple malfunctions wheels lock up something with the differential I don't know it does not even shift when I put it in the manual I've done everything I could to get inspections and I cannot find the right dealer to give me an answer they all just want my money and I'm an honest person and I want to help a great mechanic out by bringing them business and referring them customers I don't know what to do I'm stuck I need help please I have a one-year-old son I have a family and we have one vehicle and it's the chevy Equinox, OH and also there's two different size tires being that it's all-wheel drive the front tires have smaller wheels I mean smaller tires than there is on the rears so both fronts and passenger are smaller than the re ar driver and rear passenger the ones on the rear are correct and was supposed to be on that came out of factory they're supposed to be all four of the same of the ones that are on the rear because of the fact it's all wheel drive and they can mess up the transmission and I think it did but I'm not sure I need professional help ASAP thank you so much and have a blessed day.

Please look into this issue, very dangerous! I was on my way home from work driving on the northeast extension of the PA turnpike heading south, and I was between exit 95 & exit 87 on Friday 8/2/19 at approx. 3:30 pm. I was driving the posted speed limit of 70 mph and was not using cruise control when the car abruptly shifted into low gear, flashed a �reduced power mode� warning, and went into a �limp� mode where it was slowing down to eventually stop itself, but I was at 40 or 35 when I pulled over. The engine light was on, and thank god no one was behind me, I wasn't in construction and I had a spot I could safely pull off onto the shoulder. I have a 2017 chevy Equinox with only 40,000 miles on it. I shut the vehicle off and sat for 5 minutes or so. When I turned it back on, the reduced power warning was gone, but the check engine light was still on. I was able to drive it home and called the dealer, chevy wind gap, to see if I had to have it towed there or if I could drive it in myself. They told me they thought it was just a sensor malfunction, that it should reset itself, and that I could drive it there for them to look at which is exactly what happened. The check engine light went off after a few days, and chevy wind gap was unable to find any current code history of the reduced power mode so now I'm just driving in fear every time I get into the thing that it's going to do this again at any time. I don't want to take passengers for fear of putting them in danger. If this happened in heavy traffic with a tractor trailer on my bumper, it could make for a very dangerous situation. I have always loved the chevy Equinox, this is the 3rd one we've bought, please listen to your customers out there that this is happening to because that number is growing each day. Please give us piece of mind to feel safe again in our new chevy Equinox.

The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the contact noticed that the vehicle would consume an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact had to add a quart of oil every 2,000 miles. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to pinegar Chevrolet (769 e, us-60, republic, mo 65738) where it was diagnosed with the 02 sensors needing to be replaced. The contact related the issue to an unknown recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

While driving, the check engine light came on and the car died in the middle of the road. Had to coast to the side of the rode. Restarted drove another 2 miles and it died again. Got it to keep running although it tried to die and took to dealer for repair. This car is a death trap. With all of the complaints, can't figure out how chevy can continue to allow this to happen. I assume when someone dies because of this issue, they may do something then.

Bought the car with 3 miles on it. Has less than 80 miles on it now. It's in the shop parts are backordered to fix a turbo hose connector problem. We have owned this car less than 24 hours before returning to the dealer for repairs. The car was going roughly 35mph. When check engine light appeared and power alert came on onstar also sent an alert that the car had the check engine light and advised to take to the dealer within 24 hours.

Our 2015 Chevrolet Equinox with 62,900 miles stalled multiple times while in reverse backing out of our driveway. No engine light showing. While stopped at a traffic light on a major street and intersection, the car stalled a few times. You have to give it gas when shifting from park to drive to avoid stalling. After 1 day, the check engine light came on. It was time for an oil change so I had them check the code. It came back as bank one camshaft sensor p0011. The next day, all was fine and no check engine light. 2 days later, multiple stalls at stop lights and in parking lights when the car is going slow, starting from a stop and check engine light came back on.

Same issue as most of the other complaints. While driving on the highway about 60 mph we heard a loud pop. We thought we hit something in the middle of the road. The check engine light came on and the warning that we were losing power. We didn't see anything leaking and the manual said it was okay to drive with the warning light. Since it was late at night there were no open chevy dealers we nursed it home. The next morning we took it to the dealer we bought the car from and they knew what it was right away because they had someone come in the day before with the same issue, the clip that connects a hose to the throttle body popped off. They put the hose back on and but kept the vehicle so they could put a new clip on it. It's been two weeks and we are still waiting for the part to come in. The car is brand new, it has 2000 miles on it.

Purchased a used 2007 Chevrolet Equinox 6 hours after purchase, service airbags light, service t tire monitor system and check engine light came on in the instrument cluster and gags guage stopped working. .

The turbo cooler tube pops off when you accelerate. This causes the check engine light to come on and the vehicle to go into engine reduce power mode. Vehicle max speed will then be set to 45 - 55 miles an hour. I was able to push the tube back into place, it ran fine for another 100 miles than popped off again. I called my dealership and talked with the service person and he new exactly what I was talking about. He said there is a clamp service kit to fix. I asked him if there was a recall on this he said no it doesn't happen very often but they are aware of the issue.

The vehicle started with a check engine light. Vehicle has 46000 miles. When cold, engine stalls at random stops at a light, parking lot, drive thru. Vehicle must be put into park and restarted causing a safety hazard and driving danger. Code flashes p0011. Dealer stated vehicle needs new sensor. $300 repair. This problem should be a recall, as a stalling problem is a saftety hazard and should be reimbursed by gm. Can cause an accident in an intersection by blocking traffic at random.

While on vacation traveling on 81s in va & doing 70 mph on the 3-lane hwy. , without a warning a power reduction message appeared on the dash; then the check engine light came on. Our vehicle went from 70 mph (posted speed) to 40 mph. In a matter of seconds. We had a tractor trailer pushing us & a car passing us on the left. Had it not been for the fast reactions of my husband and help from the man above, we would now be 6' under. After shaking & gaining our wits, we consulted the vehicle handbook to check on a possible reason for the power reduction & how to proceed. This accident would have been logged as driver error, when actually it was vehicle malfunction. We left the vehicle in va at a chev dealership on Monday & they advise it would be 4 days until they could work on the unit. We agreed to pick it up Friday on our return trip to PA. The dealership called thurs. Morning to advise it was ready. We had to request paperwork showing that it was worked on & that they found no issues with it, but that the check engine light went out. Upon arriving home, we took the unit to our local dealership and while the unit did not register a code in the computer a mechanic did find---5242 vehicle has a u0100 lost communication with the ecu--checked communication with the pcm, tcm & bcm---no poor connections found at this time. The dealership drove the vehicle for two weeks, but could not duplicate the issue. It is with much trepidation that we must now drive this vehicle for 3 yrs. Until our lease is up and will not be able to allow passengers in it for fear of this happening again and taking their lives too. We have read five reasons for the 2019 Equinox to experience a power reduction, but none of them fit what we experienced. We would like to suggest further testing & investigation into this matter. Our unit had 4,785 miles on it when this incident happened.

Traveling south on 81 in the far right lane, a triple lane highway. With heavy morning work traffic going 70 mph with an 18-wheeler pushing our vehicle & a car passing us on the left, our 2019 Equinox dropped to 40 mph and a power reduction message appeared on the dash. The check engine light came on at the same time the speed dropped down 30 mph. It was by the grace of god that the 18-wheeler missed our vehicle and we were able to pull to the side of the road. My husband put the engine in park and revved the engine checking to see if the vehicle would take fuel. The power reduction light cleared off the screen, but the check engine light stayed on. We slowly traveled to a gas/comfort area (in woodstock, va) and read our vehicle handbook for possible reasons of power reduction---there were quite a few, but none that we could relate to. We stayed over night at a motel and Monday (6/3/19) took our vehicle to the local Chevrolet dealership. After being told they couldn't work on our vehicle until Thursday, we had to continue our trip in a rental unit. We were contacted by the dealership on Thursday (6/6/19) that our vehicle was ready for pickup. The unit threw no codes, but the check engine light did go out after their diagnostic check. We arranged to pick up our vehicle Friday morning and drove it home with much trepidation. The unit was taken to our local Chevrolet dealership, where it was purchased and they have been driving it to make the same mechanical defect occur; but to no avail. To face death once and survive, does not make one comfortable to drive the same vehicle. Had we died after being hit by the 18-wheeler, the fault would have gone to driver's error as one reads in many accidents in the news.

Bought Equinox with 9 miles o it on Monday 05/27/2019 and on Friday 5/31/2019 on the way home from going to dinner, with only 213 miles on the vehicle, the check engine light came on and the engine power is reduced warning light came on. Looked up the error code on line, because the owner's manual is not that easy. Code displayed could shut engine off at any time to prevent further damage. Thank god we were a 2 miles from home.

I backed out of a parking space and the motor stopped. Check engine shut off. Check engine light came on. Had it checked, intake cam accutator solonid valve curcit failed. It happened several tims before I could get home.

After leaving the dealership to have them put on the plate, the check engine light came on. I drove it to a secure location so I could get someone to follow me back to the dealership for service. The car did not have full power. When I went to pull out of the secure location , I took my foot off the brake and the car stopped. I decided to have the car towed, the car had only 45 miles on it. I picked up the car from service, they reported that they removed and inspected the intake duct seal and retaining clip. Installed duct to throttle body and check duct locks into place, intake duct is secure. As I was driving home, the same thing happened again. The car was towed again, the car has 60 miles on it. I am waiting for a response from the dealer. Both times the rate of speed was around 45 - 50 mph.

I went to chevy dealer and they stated this is starting to become a known issue with no fix. Chevy snapped the tube back into place, but it popped off again. Dangerous when on highway and speed immediately reduces to 55 mph and also very bad on overheating the engine.

Frequent stalling when starting from a stop including at red lights and stop signs. Also trips check engine light. Have taken it in for service several times. Checked throttle body, cam sensor, other sensor, solenoids, changed oil twice, checked for recalls or service bulletins, all work done by mechanics at goodyear, they tried and tried and finally gave up after saying it was a real safety issue and they had no idea how to fix it. The dealer's position is that there is no problem, but obviously there is. The check engine light codes have been reviewed and every possible cause seems to have been explored. There are quite a number of similar complaints about stalling for the Equinox if doing a web search. Has recurred over several weeks, goodyear service typically fixes it for less than 50 miles.

On March 24 my check engine light came and the vehicle died several times and I took it to the mechanic. He called the next day and said the oil was completely gone and the engine was ruined. I have changed the oil every 3-4000 miles religiously and now this? I was told it would cost $6000 to replace the motor.

I was driving on the highway at 70 mph when I heard a loud bang. The vehicle immediately loss engine power and began �sputtering. � the reduces engine power warning came on and the check engine light. I was able to safely make it off the interstate before the car completely stalled/quit. I have to have the vehicle towed and pushed into the service bay. I was told the intake valve was damaged and came loose. This could have been a very dangerous even fatal situation if theirs had been a car tailgating me.

My vehicle randomly dies while driving. At 94500 ck engine light came on. Had one solenoid replaced and changed the oil. A week later the engine stalled a few times in a parking lot. No check engine light was on. Replaced a 2nd solenoid. 3/5/19, a week little over a week it stalled 5 times in a parking lot. Pd again to have mechanic scan it nothing showed up. 3/7/19 changed the spark plugs. 3/9/19 drove to milwaukee. Got there check engine light came on,stabil trek light & engine power reduced notification. An hour later seemed fine. On the way home all the same lights came on in rolling traffic had to pull off bc it died a couple of times. Let it sit a bit then started home again. After about 5 miles going 60mph on the interstate in a snow/rain storm the vehicle died, while driving it. I barely got it to the shoulder of the interstate. A state trooper had to sit behind for safety. Bc of the storm the tow truck was 90 minutes out. This was a life threatening situation. I could have been hit & killed. Hauled to a mechanic 50 miles away. Code reader (attached) showed 5 errors but couldn't find anything wrong that caused the problem. Took it to a certified gm dealership. The mechanic couldn't replicate the issue so doesn't know what it wrong. Had the timing chain replaced but mechanic didn't think that was the issue. I am afraid to drive it because it could randomly die again in heavier traffic on the interstate and to me is life threatening. There are so so many people commenting online with the same problem that this vehicle should be recalled before people do die if it hasn't happened already. I have only owned this vehicle 5 months and have had it to the mechanic at least 5 times. I don't want to unload this death trap on someone else but I am afraid to drive it for fear of losing my life or someone else's.

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated and the reduced engine power message displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was restarted and driven to all american Chevrolet of san angelo (203 bryant blvd n, san angelo, TX 76903) where the throttle body was replaced however, the failure recurred. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered with a message stating �all four wheels are off� displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer where the front hub bearing and passenger's side front wheel speed sensor were replaced. The contact called back to the same dealer to report an issue with the transmission. While on her way to the dealer, the vehicle hesitated without warning while driving at various speeds. While inspecting of the vehicle, the contact discovered transmission fluid had leaked all over her engine. The contact had the vehicle towed back to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered $400. 00 towards the cost of a new engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 115,721.

I got a check engine light and I went to get it tested and it says that it is a exhaust position timing issue. No mechanic can fix it because it was a design issue by the manufacturer. I noticed that the car has been jerking around when I drive, it won't back up and it backfires and I'm terrified of driving it.

While driving on the interstate during a rainstorm and using the wipers at high speed the wiper transmission linkage disengaged and operation immediately ceased. Visibility was completely zero and very nerve racking when you are driving at a higher rate of speed. While on the highway the vehicle went into limp home mode and the check engine light came on. The call shaft actuators had failed and were subsequently replaced. The 2. 4l ecotec engine consumes an abnormal amount of oil. More than 1 quart per thousand miles. Milage is approximately 75,000 miles. Also has intermittent hesitation when accelerating with a distinct "jerk". Accelerator position sensor failed at 35k miles.

Purchased my pre-driven SUV 88 days ago. After pumping gas, I attempted to start my car & it wouldn't start. I turned off the radio, tried again because it was cold out it started but simultaneously the �check engine light� canmr on. While idling at a traffic light less than a min later, it cut-off again! another car was right behind me. I turned on my flashers & started up again. When attempting to pulling out of the parking lot at my next stop, it cut-off again! I restarted my car, kept my flashers on and prayed while driving down the street trying to arrive home to beat the expected �icestorm� I called the service dept but they were closed but would call back. The next morning I had my car towed back to the dealer - 13 miles away. The service dept. Has had had my car for more than 2 days & couldn't identify the problem. They eventually said the error code was p0010. The part needed was: cam shaft position acuator. The extended warranty that the dealer suggested & I paid for, refused to cover parts, labor or rental reimbursement even after arguing with the service mgr. Judging by the comments/complaints this is a serious problem with the Equinox, I'm not the only one. I am a widow, on disability & need a reliable vehicle but this defect has placed me in a very serious situation. I could have been rear-ended or much worse seriously injured. This is dangerous! this needs to be recalled and remedied once-and-for-all. I had no prior knowledge or I wouldn't have purchased this car! ( I was asked to verify the type of gas - regular unleaded not diesel & I have my receipt of purchase. ).

While driving on 1-30-19, my Equinox started rattling and the check engine light came on. I check the oil and it was almost empty. There was oil dripping from the main rear oil seal so I had the vehicle towed to an auto mechanic. After he inspected the vehicle he explained that I blew out the rear main seal due to a plugged pvc valve and there was a service bulletin for this problem, (14882). I contacted a local dealer an he said my VIN was not listed under this bulletin. However they were unable to answer what criteria was needed to be covered under this service bulletin.

Takata recall. While driving in cold weather on a highway, my car's check engine light came on. After getting off the freeway, it start to lurch when stopped at a light. A few moments later the oil light came on. I had to have the car towed and repair. The repair cost $1,800 for a blown oil seal. After research online I found that this is a common problem with this engine and pvc valve. Chevy service bulletin no. 14882 date March 2015.

Vehicle stopped unexpectedly no system warning and then check engine light came on. The mechanic says the steel shavings were going into head gasket from over oil comsuption.

"takata recall" so for the last month or so I've been driving and or just at a stoplight or a stop sign and my car would go in a power mode and I can't get out of 10 miles per hour its saying something about tract system and my check engine light comes on I would have to pull over and turn the car off for a couple minutes for it to get out of that mode but sometimes it don't even do it. It can do it 10 times the time that I'm driving it's very unsafe and as I'm reading all of these complaints everyone or a lot of people is having this issue it's very scary and I'm still paying on this car I only had it for just about two years right now I would please like to find out what's going on with my car before I have to pay a lot of money to get it fixed when we don't know what's wrong with it.

Had to have both converters replaced and they replaced the upstream O2 sensor as well. November 13, 2018 the car would barely pull a hill, and would act like it was going to cut off. We replaced the downstream O2 sensor which took care of the check engine light, and then we did an oil change on November 17, 2018. We have kept up with all the maintenance as recommended with dexos oil. The car is still acting very sluggish and lurches or revs to a higher rpm while driving at times. After the oil change to December 15th, I had put an additional gallon and a half of oil in the car besides what was put in during the oil change. On December 15th, went to check the oil and noticed a slimy yellowish white substance in the oil cap of the car. Advised me to clean the cap out real good and dry it out. Do an oil change to make sure the oil looked fine and was not cloudy. We also checked the antifreeze to make sure there was no oil present. We did another oil change and did everything our dealership told us to do, found the oil looked fine, but smelled of gas. That is when we started looking online and found the other complaints. Right now don't have the thousands of extra funds to send it to the shop or replace the engine, but from other complaints that looks like what is going to have to happen. Saturday spoke with a tech at a Chevrolet dealership and he said it is a known issue with my car, and that gm sent out a bulletin in 2017 but that my car would not be covered as it is over the 140,000 miles limit since my car is currently 165,000 miles on it. We are currently checking the oil every 2-3 days and putting oil in as needed, as this week along we have added almost 2 quarts of oils and have went less than 200 miles. I refuse to drive it on the highway as I'm afraid that something is going to happen and I'm going to be in an accident, so I take all back roads.

I have a 2012 chevy Equinox with under 76,000 miles on it tell me it need a new timing chain. The cramshaft position has issues. I turned the car on one day to go to work and the check engine light can on I'm being told that's the issue. I'm not understanding how a car 6 years old needs engine work to this extent!?.

Engine stalled several times while driving and just shut off while driving and the check engine light came on. Took the vehicle to have codes checked it showed camshaft position sensor, so had that replaced and the vehicle continued to shut off while driving after that was replaced and the check engine light appeared on again. Took the vehicle to Chevrolet dealership to be told that the camshaft position actuator needed to be replaced which cost me about $350. 00. This seems to be a common problem with the chevy Equinox's and they need to be recalled for it because it is very dangerous to be driving and your vehicle just stops while driving down the highway.

The check engine light, is on I have 50,000 miles it shut off when u come to stop or idle. . Pulled code came back as p0010,& p0011, camshaft position actuator . This car has been excellent cared for. Unexceptionable. . Car was in motion, on the streets, highway s. Cars blowing for me to pull off. Have to drive with flasher to keep cars back to keep from getting rear ended.

My vehivle has been shutting off randomly. I came to a stop at an intersection today and I hit the gas because my light turned green and my vehicle just shut off, right in the middle of the intersection. I had cars behind me. The light is turning red, so I have the opposite lanes traffic getting ready to go, and there I was stuck in the middle. Luckilyi was able to get it started again and get out of the oncoming traffics way. My vehicle has been randomly doing this for about 2 weeks now and my check engine light finally came on yesterday. I had it checked and codes p0010 and p0011 came up. After doing some research, I came across other people who are having the exact same issue. A lot of people! how has this not been recalled? esoecially when it puts the driver and any passengers in harms way. I have my kids afraid to ride in the car because they are afraid the car will shut down and we will get into an accident. And they have every right to be because what they are afraid of could have happened to me today.

Car stalls and jerks really hard under light acceleration, the check engine light comes on and stays on when it happens, had it checked and it shows bad camshaft sensor, but it has been replaced and still have the same issue, this is all after they fixed my engine from using too much oil. It starts fine and idles fine but stalls and jerks under acceleration, but it doesn't always do this, it mainly happens when you drive a few miles stop at the store then go back out and start it up. Which it still starts just fine, then when you go to take off it does the stall/jerk when you try to accelerate. I'm not the only one with this vehicle and issue and something needs to be done.

When driving to work today, I was in the middle of parking my car. The car cut off before I could completely park. It started right back up then cut back off. I took my chances and drove it to the nearest dealership. Every time I came to a complete stop the car would cut off I. E red lights, stop signs, heavy traffic. Which became extremely dangerous. I dropped my car off at the dealership and I noticed that there were several vechicals that were the same model / make as mines waiting to be serviced. Also serveral of my relatives who has the same car as mine has told me that they are experiencing the same issue. The dealerships all across town are out of loaner cars and can't get to mine until next week. 3 people I know took their vehicle to be serviced and each were told they needed a tune up. After receiving the tune up the problem still remained. All of our check engine lights are on.
