Emission Control Problems of Chevrolet Equinox

2007 Chevrolet Equinox. Consumer writes in regards to fuel pump leak recall. The consumer stated after discovering the fuel pump was recalled, she called GMC, but was informed her vehicle identification number was not included in the recall. The consumer was not satisfied with the response, as the fuel pump was replaced on August 23, 2012 for a serious fuel leak. Earlier in the year, the evap purge valve/emission system and fuel cap were replaced.

2010 Chevrolet Equinox. Consumer writes in regards to timing chain recall did not fix the problem. The consumer stated the timing chain was installed on April 24, 2013. Five months later, the vehicle was running rough, stalling and shaking and rattling while it was in idle. He received a recall notice for the timing chain. The service department informed him, the recall was serviced during the April 24, 2013 visit. On November 22,2013 another timing chain was installed. The consumer has experienced several problems with the vehicle, since April 2011. The dealer replaced a worn compressor, the balance shaft chains, oxygen sensor, high pressure fuel pump, intake actuator, intake solenoid and the transfer case.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. While the contact was driving approximately 55 mph, she heard loud whining grinding noises outside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on the occasions for the same failure and the wheel bearings were replaced each time. The failure continued. Recently, the dealer replaced the drive shaft bearing and the driver side front upper strut mount along with the lower strut insulator, sway bar link and coil spring were replaced. The contact also stated that there was a malfunction within the air bag and engine warning light indicators. The failure mileage as 44,635. Updated 01/19/11 the consumer also stated the vehicle failed emission due to a faulty gas cap. Updated 02/22/11.

While driving my 2005 chevy Equinox check engine light comes on fill up with gas to reset as book stated no luck took to dealer for repairs stated the 02 sensor needed repairing picked up after the repair check engine light came on after driving less than 10 miles took car back to dealer.

Vehicle has a foul odor inside when engine is hot or heater is on.
