I have been having an issue with fumes coming into the cab of my vehicle through the front vents when set to defroster or circulating air from outside to inside through the vents. The fumes smell of gas or exhaust and are very noticeable when sitting still while engine is running. This is noticeable mainly when sitting still in vehicle with engine running. The smell is overwhelming. I have developed breathing problems since purchasing my vehicle. I have been newly diagnosed with asthma and am having to take breathing treatments. I had the first asthma attack in December 2019. I am also having problem with airbag light staying on. Wheel information is also incorrect. Information system may indicate the front passenger wheel pressure is low, when in fact the rear passenger tire pressure is low.

The tube connecting the exhaust to the turbo has become disconnected not once, not twice, but three separate times while driving. The second time fixed was with a newly designed gm part specifically to eliminate the issue. Which clearly did not occur. Owned the vehicle a total of three months with 2260 miles all driven by myself and the vehicle has spent a month and more at the dealership for repairs.

"takata recall" my 2013 is having problem with exhaust system from converter back which the smell is backing up into the inside cabin of vehicle. I have noticed that this must be a common problem on these vehicles (equinox). I have relatives that are experiencing the same problem with their 2010''s. I noticed the problem because the vehicle started sounding loud when parked and when taking off no speed, compared to when I first purchased. I take very good care of my vehicle. . . . Regular oil changes and no major work needed done since my purchase.

This vehicle made my family sick. I had to picket dealership where I bought car, because g. M head quarters closed the case and left me with this toxic vehicle. A lot has happened in my quest to have the car replaced. A gm dealership where I did not buy car from bought me out of my lease and got me into a new vehicle. I physically picketed dealership I bought car from and other gm dealerships to get my point across. I still have contaminated clothing and the dealership is stuck with this vehicle now, and I still have health concerns about my family. I have called the epa, and other agencies and none of them can help. This vehicle should never get into another individuals possession. I have attached some pictures and files. This is my second complaint. Original nhsta complaint number is 10862571 exhaust fumes seeped into vehicle from exhaust leak and contaminated interior of vehicle making my wife and child sick. Dealership replaced exhaust system but car was still contaminated. Please contact me at gmcargotmyfamilysick@gmail. Com.

Exhaust fumes leaking into driver cabin, horrible toxic odor, family got sick from being inside of vehicle. Stationary, or in motion. Toxic odors and same health effects when not running. Oder on clothing, hair, skin. Immediate adverse health symptoms associated with being in vehicle are headache, chemical taste in mouth, sore throat. I noticed condition 1/22/2016 but it was present prior to this as I do not use vehicle often. My wife and youngest daughter had most exposure and it built up over time, for they were desensitized to the odor. After a few days of not using vehicle my wife did smell the toxic odor. An exhaust leak was the cause and verified by dealer. After repairs were made vehicle still has horrific odor and the same adverse health effects were experienced. Other people who were exposed to vehicle also experienced same health symptoms.
Spouse driving the vehicle indicated that the temperature gauge on the vehicle had risen quickly while sitting idle at a stop light. The gauge only decreased slightly when the vehicle was in motion. Suspected a thermostat. Took the vehicle to the dealer, they indicated the same. Replaced the thermostat and the problem continued. Tests indicated a blown head gasket. The vehicle had no symptoms of this issue. No loss of coolant. No coolant in the oil. No oil in the coolant. No white smoke from the exhaust. The only indicator was the quickly rising temperature. At that point, no preemptive measures could be taken to fix the problem.

2011 chevy Equinox, vehicle engine shutsdown without warning while driving. This occured one time while backing up and five times in one day before we took it back to the dealer . Vehicle only had 50 days of purchase and only 1077 miles. The engine stopped working, the car is moving forward on its own , can not change lanes because of the heavy traffic, car comes to a dead stop, vehicles are passing by at 70 to 75 miles while I am in the middle lane, cars behind me are honking their horns, thank god nothing happened. The car re-started we took off looking for the nearest exit to the turnpike but before we could get off the engine shutt down again. As you can see this is safety issue, a car is not suppose to have engine failure, specialyy when it's brand new. Somethings wrong with this vehecle and it's gonna cause some vehicle accidents and/or fatalities, please look into this matter. Thanks.

Had a loud noise coming from exhaust and have exhaust fumes comeing thur the vents, and found that it was the erg valve (broke in two). Went to dealership to get replacement part and was told by the parts guy that this is a big problem with the Equinox and that they now have changed the entire part so you can no longer just replace the $20 tube, you have to get the $300 part, plus labor and then have the shop 'reset' the computer to match the new part. . . . . . . . . . Another $200 service. This apparently is a huge problem due to a design flaw. This is a dangerous situation and should be recalled!!! nice scam chevy!.
I am filing this complaint because my 2005 chevy Equinox purchased in February 2005 which has always been serviced by crane Chevrolet in clifton NJ has now have a blown had gasket and intake problem - I called the dealer for a one time goodwill adjustment and asked for the deductible- and was told that I had to have this car towed to them - but they cannot make promises to fix or repair or even pay part of the costs- I have done research via goggle and this appears to be a well known problem - pls help me- point me in the right direction- the repair is 1650. 00 - I initially leased this car then decided to purchase it- I could not afford the extended warranty.
I am also having the same problems with my Equinox. It sometimes doesn't want to start & I will have to give it gas to start it. I have taken it to 2 different chevy dealers that said nothing was wrong with it after checking it out on the machine ($99 each time).
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the engine and traction control warning indicators was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the exhaust system was causing the warning indicators to illuminate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000. Mf.
The same problem has been occurring for over a year. Where I go to start my car, my key turns over but the engine never kicks on. Its makes an odd noise, not grinding but a noise. It takes about 6-7 times before the vehicle will kick on. Once it finally starts there is black smoke and fluid coming out of the exhaust pipe. The rpm's rev up to 8k than down to 4k, the car idles and sounds like it wants to die. I have brought my car back and forth to the dealership 6 times since April 15, 2008. So far nothing has been done and they state the car is up to gm standards. I have wasted much time and money into this issue and soon the car will be out of warranty. I have a feeling that once the warranty is up that they will charge me an arm and leg to get it fixed. I have a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox will a little bit under 34k miles.
I purchased my 2005 chevy Equinox on Aug. 22, 2005 and instantly fell in love. Soon after it began to smell as if my vehicle was going to over heat. I took the vehicle to the dealer to have it check out and nothing was found. Although they did add more antifreeze. Things were going fine until it got cold outside. When starting my brand new 2005 chevy Equinox a popping noise was heard from the rear. I took it to the dealer and they stated that it was the exhaust. They replaced the exhausted and nothing was heard, at least for two weeks. Needless the say the noise has come back and no one seems to know what's wrong. To top it off a foul smell comes from the vents went the heat is on. I now have to ride with the window slightly open because the smell is now cause headaches for me and my passengers. I am deeply concerned about the condition of my vehicle because I have a small child that I am concerned about while traveling in this car.
I have a 2005 chevy Equinox the muffler system is very loud and needs replaced. I have taken it to the dealer where I bought it and they say there is no way to fix the problem. Even the garage manager agrees that it is to loud.
There have been several problems that have been fixed, however one remains. There is a popping noise, coming from the back end, resulting in many pops in a series, and then it won't do it again. This usually happens after a cold start and driving it for a couple minutes then coming to a stop. However it has happened immediately at start up and during the course of driving for the first couple minutes.
There is a bad smell coming from the air vents. Found out that there was mold in the cooling system. There are many many other things that have been wrong with my car. They have had 3 attempts to fix the problem and have not. I have a dr. Statement that the car is not safe for me to drive because of my asthma and other medical problems. The car has been back to the dealership 8 times since I bought it in April for many things. But 3 times for the smell and 3 times for the brakes and nether have been fixed.
We purchased a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox on March 30, 2004. In July we started to notice a strange odor in the car. My husband would get headaches and experience dizziness when riding in the car. Since then we have had the car back 5 times for the odor problem and have both had multiple upper respiratory infections requiring medical treatment. 2 of the 5 times they found standing water in the tire well and were unable to determine the origin they replaced rear gate seals (the cargo mat carpet in the back was not even wet). Another time they replaced the carpet in the back passenger seat because they said it got wet when there was water in the tire well and was causing the odor. The next time they flushed the radiator coolant because they said they has a technical service bulletin to do so. The last time they changed the radiator hoses. The dealership (porter Chevrolet in newark, DE) states that they cannot replace or repurchase the vehicle as we have requested. The district service manager for gm said he rode in the car and did not smell anything so there is no basis for him to replace or repurchase the car. The dealership states that they have not had any other customers complain about an odor and they said they contacted gm and that they have not had any complaints either. There are numerous postings on edmunds. Com from Equinox owners who have complained to dealerships and gm from different parts of the country. Is this problem known to gm? what is the problem and is it hazardous to drive the car with this odor problem?.
