37 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 02/04/2009

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact was driving 70 mph when the reduced engine power warning light illuminated momentarily. The vehicle did not experience any failures yet the contact was concerned that the vehicle could potentially experience some type of failure while driving. The contact stated that the failure occurred five times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer each time the reduce power light illuminated. The dealer replaced the evaporative emission canister, a/c unit traction control module, ecm, egr valve, spark plug wires and the fuel tank pressure sensor. None of the repairs corrected the failure. The failure mileage was 50,650.

38 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/08/2008

The chevy Equinox is over-all a piece of garbage. Ever since I bought it in 2004 it has given nothing but problems. I bought the vehicle brand new, but I doesn't perform like a brand new vehicle. Since I've had this vehicle it has over heated on me, the ac system had to be repaired, the gage lights keep coming on as if something is wrong with the vehicle, when I drive on the express way and hit 60 mph the steering wheel start shaking when as I'm braking, the one belt that the Equinox has snapped while I was driving, and three weeks after I got the belt fixed as I was driving and I turned on the ac the vehicle started smoking. Keep in mind that my warranty expired earlier this year so majority of these expenses are coming out of my pocket, and guess what, yesterday on 9nov2008 the Equinox died on me. I can't even get it to start. When I turn the key all the vehicle is doing is making a clicking noise but it's not turning over. I don't know if it's the battery because the horn works, the gage lights come on, the radio works, but it's just not turning over. It's back in the shop again, and there's no telling how much this is going to set me back. This vehicle has given me and my wife so much heart ache, and what I just listed were some of the high lights of problems that this vehicle has given us. Times are tough right now and this Equinox is not making things any easier. The gm company should be ashamed of themselves for making such a crappy product such as this vehicle. Never again will I ever buy another chevy or any other gm product. I regret ever buying this vehicle.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. While parked, the contact noticed that the abs and stable track warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure however, reset the computer but the failure continued. 42 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/19/2002

My vehicle has similar issues that other consumers have complained about: (1) loss of power on the highway after pressing accelerator pedal down to gain speed. Engine has hesitated and back-fired. (2) excessive oil consumption still remains an issues even though I have brought to the dealer several times. (3) clanging noise in the engine which I have complained about since I purchased the vehicle turned out to be a timing belt issue. Vehicle lost most power and I barely got the vehicle back to my driveway. When I went to start vehicle next day to bring to a repair shop, only the starter was spinning [engine would not turn over as I found out the timing belt disintegrated]. By not knowing there was a special coverage bulletin issued for this problem [extends for 10 years/120,000 miles I believe], my local repair shop brought it to my attention and said although my regular warranty ended, I should bring to dealer. It was replaced for free by dealer due to special coverage in November 2014 [over 4 years of complaining about excessive engine noise]. Broken timing belt created damage inside the engine but dealer covered all damage. After the timing belt was replaced, it sounded like I had a whole new engine as it was so quiet. There is still a small rattling noise during start-up, but goes away after engine runs. (4) gas mileage never has come close to Chevrolet's reported estimates for this vehicle [I get about 20 mpg on flat highways].
