The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic c reading was provided and the speedometer reading was repaired and the mileage was 300,107.

Odometer fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that after purchasing the vehicle from an independent dealer, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times and the check engine warning light was reset; however, the check engine warning light immediately illuminated while driving the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic, and an obd-ii scanner was attached, and it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 112,000 and at the time it was discovered that the mileage was 192,000.

Odometer fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. The vehicle was a private sale from facebook marketplace. The mileage was 98,776 miles on 1/5/26. The contact had decided that a larger vehicle was needed and brought the vehicle to the dealer to trade it. The contact received a carfax report from the dealer indicating an odometer discrepancy. The report indicated that the third owner had rolled back the odometer and that the actual mileage was 111,112. The contact stated that the private seller from whom the vehicle was purchased believed there was only one other owner, but after research, found that there were three prior owners before him, making the contact the 5th owner. The current mileage was 128,016.

The contact stated that upon applying for extended warranty services, the contact was informed that the odometer was last reported at 155,000. In addition, the contact purchased a carfax report, which indicated that in September 2024, the odometer mileage was 144,738. The dealer was made aware of the discrepancy.

The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was approximately 72,170, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was approximately 206,352.

The vehicle was taken to several other dealers who came to the same conclusion. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 66; it was later discovered that the mileage was over 1,000.
