1 Radiator problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/15/2020

While vehicle is coming to a hard stop or occasionally while making a right turn, there is a loud noise heard from the engine area. Service center indicated this is a known issue with the vehicle but it was not covered under warranty. The condition has existed since I purchased the vehicle. Service center indicated the noise heard is due to the turbo unit hitting the radiator and special tape could be applied to damped or eliminate the noise. The repair was $550. Bulletin 19-na-098 was referenced from chevy.

2 Radiator problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

I bought this car about 18 months ago from a used dealer ship after the car turned 12 months the car started saying it was over heating but when looking at the vehicle it was not hot at all the sensor just said overheating all the way to the red when the car read overheating the radiator fluid overflowed with out being hot when opening the lid there where air bubbles with no heat. I have spent over $1000 dollars trying to fix the problem with still no success when it said over heating the car starts slowing down and then it stops where ever you are at right away sometimes in the middle of the road. When at time it said over heating the heater stops working. I have had to let the air out several time a day and now it said overheating as soon as I leave my home. I have done some research and I am not the only one with this problem I have tried everything others have suggested but nothing works. I have got a new radiator, water pump, temperature sensor ,thermostat, filter and still nothing. I took it to get it checked with the computer and 18 sensors went off and 8 where failed sensors. I wanted to bring this to your attention it has happened to a lot of other people just google it and you will see. I just want people to be safe and this car is not safe I have children and I live in a area that has cold weather for 3 months. I have been stuck in that car when it read over heating when it was not. I have bought about over 39 bottles of radiator fluid to keep it full but one bottle last me less the a day. Thank you very much for letting me inform you of this concern. I have gotten stuck on he highway and street with my kids. The car is now just seating in my drive way.

3 Radiator problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 04/20/2018

More than once while driving I have gotten power steering warnings while driving, vehicle locked up in the process and took all of my might to turn and get to the side of the road. I have constant oil changes and was issued a recall letter that the oil censor was off last may and the dealership said no such recall existed. Recently my mechanic says the timing is off, an engine power reduced warning has come up more than once and I have stopped driving the car all together for fear is stops with my children and myself in it. The first time it came on two weeks ago, I was at an incredibly busy intersection and could not go over 20 mph, it was as if I was driving in neutral. I took myself and children straight to the mechanic. My mechanic has informed me that the amounts of repairs is more than the car may be worth. I see several complaints with issues matching my own and Chevrolet has done nothing. My screen randomly goes out, the radio goes out, the oil censor has stopped coming on, engine lights comes on and off. My radiator was recently replaced as it was rusted and overheating the car. A car this age should not have this many issues. They must lie in the manufacturing process.

5 Radiator problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/29/2017

I am filing my complaint due to some re-accruing issues that I continuously have with my truck I just bought in June of 2017. I have problems with the car overheated needle fluctuations and shutting down on me. The air bags does not work for the passenger seat and there are a couple of sensors that are on and constantly stays on when cranking the car and driving. I also have problems when I turn the wheel to the right hearing a rubbing graining noise also hear a trickling noise when pressing the gas to go. I have had my car worked on by a mechanic twice. Had my radiator flushed thermostat replaced and anti-freeze take flushed and still the same issues. My coolan fan causes my battery to go dead and have to get a jump start more than once. This issue happens while driving sitting or even on the highway. I'm taking the car back to the dealer to see if they can figure the issue out.

6 Radiator problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

I have had this vehicle since 2016 and have had issues with it since the 7th day of owning it. On day 7, I had the catalytic converter replaced (after they tried to tell me I didn't tighten the gas cap). Then after only owning the vehicle for 4 months, I had to have a whole new engine built (so they say it was) this was after my vehicle turned completely off in the middle of an intersection while driving with my 2 year old daughter. Up until that point everything had been fine. There was no check engine light, warning or anything. The dealership had my vehicle for almost 2 months before I finally got it back. The day I got it back, my vehicle started overheating and making a horrible noise. This time the dealership told me it was my radiator and that they replaced it. Everything was ok after that for a good 3 weeks and then after that the engine light has been on and my vehicle will randomly turn off. I have taken it to a different location where they have fixed the sensor a couple of times, but they said it was my engine and that the dealership never fixed it properly. I can believe that too because none of my service info is on the chevy site and the same codes show up that did originally, this vehichle is a safety hazord and a money pit! when will chevy be held responsible for all of the same complaints on the Equinox?.

7 Radiator problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 07/11/2015

The first time my 05 Equinox overheated on me was when I was getting ready to party on a hill and it overheated on me then we replaced the radiator and the wires in my vehicle then took it to Nissan and they said that pitts broke my purge valve and tried gluing it back so they fixed that and told me my vehicle was fixed and that it wont overheat on me again well on my way home, I wasnt even 10 minutes away from being home and it overheated on me and anti freeze was all over the ground Nissan told me it could be my head gasket but they weren't for sure but they said since I let someone else fix my car they weren't going to pay for my vehicle to get fixed but I called the other people that fixed my vehicle said they never touched my purge valve and if they did they would have fixed it.

The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving approximately 20 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle overheated. The engine stalled and the vehicle was able to be restarted after multiple attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the failure was due to low coolant level. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator clamp needed to be removed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

9 Radiator problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

Was idling in car at military check point to get to school in 2012 and fans under hood got loud to cool it down. Went dead several times. Let sit 45 minutes. Checked radiator and was full of water. Barely made it home, going dead all the way. Took to dealer and said could not find problem at all charged me over $100 to check it. For months it would do this off and on. Then the fan under the hood started coming on and would not go off. Then the car would run when I turned the key off. Now in January 2014, the heater is blowing cold air and I have no defrost and the engine temp. Gauge is all of the way to hot. I can only run it for 15 minutes then it goes dead and I have to wait 45 minutes for it to cool down to go another 45 minutes. Really bad for me because it take me 30 minutes to get to work so I have to add another 45 minutes. . . . . That's there and then 45 extra home.

I have a 2005 Equinox and had to put the car in the shop 3 times now in 3 weeks! the thermostat went out, then the radiator had to be replaced, and now they say the head gasket needs to be replaced. 12 Radiator problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/02/2010

My husband had hit a buzzard in February 2010 on a county paved road which tore some of the griddle on the front driver's side. Then on September 2, 2010 I was going to the store and the car got hot started to die which the computer told me to stop, turn off a/c and idle the car, allowing it to cool down. After 15 mins I proceeded to return home and the SUV got extreme hot, started to die. Called my husband and he told me to leave it there. He pull the 2007 Equinox to our home and look for reason for SUV to get hot. We called the dealer since the SUV was still under warranty and towed it to the dealer. Several days later we was told that a piece of griddle had rubbed a hole into radiator and engine would need to be replace. Stated that this was not covered under warranty so we contacted our insurance agency. At first ins agency was not going to cover the damages but we were able to provide receipts on every maintenance done which the last oil change was August, 2010, 30 days before this problem. There were never no pucture holes in radiator no overheating no signals at all. After repairs, the invoice stated that "sway bar plastic trim rubbed hole into radiator. " also we was ask by the dealership if we want the sway bar repair since it was in needed for repairs. Two weeks ago we discovered that the motor mount is broke. The SUV have been popping when backing up or turning since we got the SUV repaired in September 2010. We did called GMC after reading their warranty coverage 100,000 miles or 5 years that stated that these defects was cover under this warrranty. We were told that the radiator was not part of the warranty nor was the sway bar; only the engine. We would like for someone explain to us why the radiator would not be cover under this warranty since the engine can not function without the radiator to keep the engine cool and if the radiator is not needed then why is it on the vehicle? what is covered under GMC's best ever warranty?.
