My vehicle had turned off while driving it sputtered a bit the shut off. . I started it back up then I drove home and took it to the dealership the following day. No check engine lights or anything ever popped up to giving any warning. Dealership said it was a solenoid idk if I spelled that right. I hope its the problem.

I own a 2014 Equinox it has 103,000. The code was for a position actuator sensor ( timing variable solenoid). I replaced it, simple fix. Engine light still on. Within the next couple months I realize my vehicle idles on the lower side. My vehicle almost stalled out while in a drive thru one day. Once you put some gas to it seems ok. Problem goes away for a while. Then finally one day I go to leave work and my stabilitrak message pops up and takes many times to start. My lights act weird. Car get stuck turning over and went to limp mode. I finally get it to come out of this somehow and make my long commute home, but I can tell the power in my car is lacking. No messages just a engine light with the same codes. Next day my car starts fine and like nothing is wrong. Car stalls out 3 times while driving out of a parking lot. Barely get it home. Then acts like nothing happens. Stalls out while in mcdonald drive thru with my kids. Will not start, had to push it to a parking spot. After 20 minutes I get it to start, but I have no rpms and it feels like the electrical system in my car is not running properly. I make it to my moms, which is very close to mcdonald. Park it, pick it up that night. Starts up like nothing is wrong. I decide to take it to a mechanic. First visit was a $33 part that cost me $400 worth of labor. They diagnosed my car with their computer, none of my sensors are bad. Engine light states other wise. Car does all the symptoms again along with loud engine noise. Turns out my timing chain is bad (1,614 repair). 24 hrs later. Won't start for me, finally get it on. Engine light on, idle issues so on. As of 2 days after that. Engine light goes off like nothing happened. Mechanic stated I had no damage to motor and all looks good. I believe there is a electrical issues and timing chain issues with this 2. 4l engine. A safety hazard and need recalled.
Bad oil consumption and oil warning light does not come on. While driving with my kids the SUV started to idle very rough and would just shut off once I got into slower traffic. After the 4th time in less then 2 miles of traffic the check engine light came on and I took it to a mechanic. I was told that the code that was displayed was for the vvt solenoid and so I had it replaced along with an oil change. The mechanic said that oil can effect the vvt solenoid so I should change the oil frequently for the next year. Each time I did an oil change I started noticing that less oil was draining out then what was put in. After the year I went back to full synthetic oil changes at 6000 miles apart but then had the same issue with the vehicle driving rough and making weird noises 8 months later. Along with missing oil on the change between. Not long after this my wife was driving in boston traffic when the vehicle stalled several times and was nearly hit before she could get to a safe place where I was able to tow it back home. The check engine light was on and gave the same code for the vvt. I replaced this for a second time and while replacing I noticed that the engine oil was extremely low (less then a quart came out). I took it to a mechanic for further testing and he said that at no point during his test period did the oil pressure light ever illuminate. I have been adding almost 2 quarts every 5-8 hundred miles just to keep up with it. I found several other Equinox owners with the same issue so I called the local chevy center and was told that there are a few complaints that they see from Equinox owners with the 2. 4l engines burning oil however, there is nothing they can do and that it is not covered under warranty. I mentioned the service bulletins that I found about these issues and he just said that they don't mean anything and that there are no recalls.
In Jan 5 2016 my 2011 chevy Equinox mileage 56747 would just stall without warning and I had no control of steering. Driving on the hwy it just killed and started but didn't want to accelerate again then stalled again couldn't steer. Got it to ray Chevrolet it was my camshaft position actuator solenoid valve in sept. 2016 mileage 80584 I had it towed again and it was the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves and it burnt my electronic control unit aka computer which cost me $800. 00. Skipping forward but not without problems there are many. Aug. 2019, I am having to change camshaft position actuator solenoid valves again do to stalling on the road while I'm driving not being able to steer for the third time. It's so dangerous to drive this car without warning it will kill on you for a number of reasons. Then I went change my oil like clock work and was told I have a valve cover gasket leak to go with the solenoid problem. It's so dangerous to drive due to the fact it will stall at anytime. In Aug. 2019 my pressure sensor for my right tire went out. Now I can't get it to reset and mechanic tried and said sensor needs to be changed really. I can't tell if I have a low tire it just shows blank line on all tires. Now my actuator bend door broke on defrost and it's hot in louisiana. Almost impossible to get to. This car needs a recall really bad. There is never a time where the car just ran good with no trouble. Things that broke on this car are listed below. Air control iac value, actuator bend door, valve cover gasket, computer, pressure sensor, cv joints, intake & exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid <>three times.

Check engine light came on. Mechanic had off and on for 3 weeks, unable to find cause. Dmv issued wavier on 4/9/2015 so that we could get renewal tags. Took to another mechanic who was recommended by first one. They replaced r&r canister purge solenoid and the wiring harness on 6/22/2015. The light stayed off for a couple of days. We returned to mechanic. Picked up on 6/29/2015, light stayed off until 7/2/2015. We are supposed to return to mechanic on Monday due to this being holiday weekend.

2006 chevy Equinox would not start yesterday morning. Put a brand new battery in it, it started then when I got to the store and came out tried to start it, it would not start! finally got it to start after I lifted the hood and banged on a couple of things. Drove it to dealership and parked it, was told to drive truck around to service department and guess what? it would not start. They charged $230 to "fix" it. Was supposedly poor terminal fit at starter solenoid causing excessive heat at starter relay. Got my truck home, decided to go get something to eat and truck would not start again! :(.

On 09/04/09 I bought a new 2010 Equinox and within 3,000 miles I began experiencing significant shifting issues and rough idling/stalling at stops. On 01/08/10 I will be taking the vehicle to the service shop for the 4th time in 60 days for these problems. Very concerning is that every time I have taken the vehicle in for service a new gm service bulletin exists for these problems. However, gm is not proactively addressing these known issues with buyers. Rather the onus has been put into the buyers hands. Why if they know a problem exists are they not obligated to contact buyers? there are a significant number of others experiencing these problems you will find on the web, ie edmunds. The following is a chronology of my experience:
#1) 12/08/09-2,561 miles: car hesitating badly when accelerating, vibrating bad at idle with s intermittent stalls. Gm bulletin 4469g-metal shaving left behind in the tranny. Replace oil, replace actuator solenoids due to debris build-up. #2) 12/15/09-2,713 miles: rough idling/hesitation. Replaced oil like before, no debris. Service bulletin for ecm update for tcm and pcm. Service tech told me that they had several other buyers experiencing these problems. #3) 12/22/09-2,939 miles: unable to merge onto thruway and get up to speed do to bucking and vehicle not accelerating/shifting. Almost involved in accident trying to merge and gain speed. Bucking at stops and stalling. Service code p0011 found in computer for intake position system failure. Needed 2 cam shaft actuators again. Replaced oil & filter. 01/08/10-~3,900miles: continued rough idle. Poor/hard shifting/hesitation to shift especially in 3 & 4 gear. In 3 & 4 engine sounds muffled and struggles to gain speed as if the tran is up-shifting too quickly. When up-shifting in higher gears it hesitates and then jolts. In summary, I am taking vehicle in for the 4th time, same problems. Nys lemon law being considered. Each time I have lost vehicle.
