1 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Chevrolet HHR

Failure Date: 02/07/2021

I had an auto accident on February 7, 2021. I lost control on an icy highway and flipped my car in a ditch facing the opposite direction. I hit the driver's side in the ditch hard enough it bounced back on all four tires. My jaw hit the steering wheel, my left shoulder went through the drivers window and of course I now have ongoing back issues at this time. My concern is the airbag never deployed. I find this concerning as the impact was great and I hot the steering wheel with my face.

8 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2011 Chevrolet HHR

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

I was driving home with my 2 children in my vehicle and hit and slight bump in the road and the service air bag notification came on. This startled me and I became very scared because I have never had a vehicle say service air bag? I am very concerned about this issue that if I am in an accident god forbid that the airbags will not deploy if needed I took my vehicle in to be serviced for ignition recall today after waiting almost 5 months for part and informed service technician about what had occurred and the response I received was" we can do a diagnostic on the issue for $89. 00? " I do not feel that I should have to pay to have this defect to researched and fixed due to danger that this poses to the safety of myself and my children. I am requesting that authorization be given to have the issue with the service air bag light to be researched and repaired at no charge due to all the inconvenience these issues are causing me and the time that I have to be without a vehicle in order to have necessary repairs completed so that my family and I can have a safe vehicle. Also, the driver side door handle just broke upon opening door and I am requesting assistance with discount to have this part replaced. I am a single parent and I have limited income and cannot afford to keep making repairs on the vehicle due to faulty or defective parts. Please assist me as soon as possible. 9 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Chevrolet HHR

Failure Date: 06/05/2014

The front door handle broke on the passenger side of my car in 2013 we had taken the car to the dealership to inquire about this, since this is a safety issue not being able to get out of your car if something dangerous was to happen. At that time the dealership told my husband I that there was nothing they could do about it. Then again in 2014 the driver side door had broken also. So now I have two broken doors on my car that you can only get out of, if someone lets me out of the car or I roll the window down. I feel this is a major safety issue. If I were to get into a serious accident were I was unable to roll my window down and did not have someone riding in the back seat (say car caught on fire) then this could lead to major problems if not death. Also when my husband had an accident neither airbag deployed. And backseat passenger side seatbelt would not release and we had to cut my granddaughter out of seatbelt. So now I am driving a car that airbags did not deploy in, back seatbelt had to be cut and my front two doors you cannot get out of if unable to roll window down. Major safety issues. We had around 98,000. Miles when issues started with the doors. Which I believe the miles should have nothing to do with a safety issue.

15 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Failure Date: 03/28/2014

I was driving south on a 4 lane rte with a center lane for turning. I was driving the posted speed limit and then I don't know what happened. One minute I was driving, the next I was crashing into a telephone pole. The car went left of the center lane and the two northbound lanes and into the telephone pole. It happened so fast. There were no witnesses that came forward. I don't recall hearing any horns blaring or brakes squealing. I had no sense of warning that I was going to crash. ( I have been in or seen crashes before and there is usually a sense of " OH no this is about to happen"). My airbags did not deploy. My head spiderwebbed the windshield. I had tiny cuts in my scalp and slivers of glass in my hair. My left shoulder hit something (maybe the steering wheel)? my left thigh had a bruise from the steering wheel. The bruise was 12" x 4 or 5 " throughout the length of the bruise. . There is a large hematoma above where the bruise had been. This hematoma is measures approx 7 " and round. It is painful and protrudes 3". My right knee was banged up and is still painful and there was bruising and a smaller hematoma about the size of a golfball. Both hematomas remain. The crash was on 3/28/2014. My neck started hurting immediately and still remains painful. The car has front end damage and some on the left and some on the right. I believe my injuries were directly caused by failure of airbag deployment.

Service airbag light is on. Told by mechanic that it's a common issue in Hhrs and cobalts, due to poorly designed parts. Gm says I have to pay to fix it. This is absolutely ridiculous and should be listed on a recall immediately, if both gm and random mechanics know about the problem.

28 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Chevrolet HHR

Failure Date: 04/11/2013

In April 2013 our service air bag light on the passenger side started coming on and off at varied times. There was no rhyme or reason for when it went on or off. Our dealer stated that if the service air bag light was off at the time of an accident, the air bags would not deploy (scared us into the repair). The car was just out of our extended warranty period of 4 yr 48000 miles. So we would need to pay for the repair. The repair was a connector module and total cost was 264. 59 for the repair. After it was repaired I started finding all kinds of similar issues with chevy cars and trucks, including various years of the Hhr. I contacted gm but they refused to cover this repair stating they knew of no issues regarding a service air bag light coming on and off. This was obvious a lie since it's all over the internet and chevy has recalled some cars and trucks for the same exact problem. I feel that we can't be sure if the air bag would work during a crash it is a safety issue and should be repaired at no cost. The cost of the repair for the actual work done is highway robbery - parts were 17. 28 the rest of labor! gm needs to take care of this issue and recall the cars - or at the least, repair for free when the issue arises.

I sheared off a street sign, went through a chain link fence, was airborne over a hill and dropped approximately 25 feet. My car was a total loss as determined by my insurance company. My driver side airbag did not deploy. I spoke with gm to file a claim and an investigator went to investigate my car and determined that the airbag should have not deployed.
