Side/window Air Bag Problems of Chevrolet HHR

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Hhr. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 miles per hour the drivers side air bag deployed and the vehicle shut down. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed the vehicle and needs air bag replacement. A police report was filed and received a burn on left arm and my neck is sore. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 35000. Am.

Less then 24 hours off the lot I was driving home off hwy26 exiting to my town of watertown,WI. I was slowing down on the ramp and my side air bag deployed. I was hit in the head by the driver visior causing my to flinch and release the break for a slit second. I tried to reapply the break and had no breaks I was still at 40mph. It was snowing this caused me to not be able to turn so I hit a meaden snapping my a arm. I also snipped my abs cable, blew out driver ball joints, bent the tie rod, dilocated my axel bent my rim and ruined my new tire on the driver side. On the passenger side I broke my knuck and blew out my ball joints. It locked up my driver seat belt and even with no one wearing the passanger one it locked that up too. After it happened going online I have found a few more cases like mine one caused a woman to spend a month and a half in hospital from hitting a pole.

After buying the Hhr the day before I went to work. On my way back home. I got off on my exit about half way down the ramp my side airbags went off. Then I pushed the brakes and they did not respond sending me into a meaden causing my wheel to snap almost all the way off.

My vehicle was hit broadside squarely on the drivers door. Vehicles traveling about 25-30 mph. During collision drivers head struck door frame. The side airbags did not deploy. Vehicle has not been repaired yet.

Received a notice of pending of class action, proposed settlement and hearing for 2009 Hhr. Stating that the selling vehicles were manufactured without side curtain airbags.

My ss model has 2 different front seats which dealership says this is normal . Speed control floats,slow to respond. . Originally froze at 70mph. I did receive a citation for speeding cuz of malfunctioned. L/f /f and r/f tire pressure readings are reversed according to the ip. Very irate 30 year gm employee who paid cash for this mess.

The contact discovered that the vehicle does not have side impact air bags. He called the manufacturer and they advised him to call the dealer. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer wish to provide further information regarding the notice. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 31,200.
