Front Air Bag Problems of Chevrolet HHR

Failure: "service air bag" light came on. 1st incident: "service air bag" light came on with passenger sitting in front passenger seat, dealership repaired faulty component. 2nd incident: "service air bag" light came on with passenger sitting in front passenger seat, dealership repaired different faulty component. 3rd incident: use of 12v accessory, no passenger present, as well as passenger present, "service air bag" light intermittently on/off. Corrective action: dealership told me not to use 12v accessories as they may cause some rf interference. 4th incident: "service air bag" light came on with passenger sitting in front passenger seat, dealership replaced components, found faulty wiring 5th incident: "service air bag" light came on without a passenger in passenger seat on the way upto the dealership for service. Contacted gm about possibility for lemon law remedy, was refused buy-back option with statement that the vehicle is fixed and in proper working order. Representative pushed towards keeping vehicle. I personally do not have confidence, at this point, in the safety devices of this 2009 chevy Hhr, nor do my passengers. The dealerships service technicians have repaired several components, and yet the problem persists. This last time in for service, the technician could not reproduce the issue, therefore no service was conducted other than testing. This means that the problem has not been resolved since the last occurrence of the "service air bag" message being displayed.

Received safety recall notice in mail 04-05-08. Tried to call dealer on Saturday, but get through. Talked to a rep in the service dept at londoff Chevrolet. Per rep they did not have the parts to fix the problem. He advised me to call back in a week. Called 04-11-08 and got an appointment to have the roof-rail air bag installed in order to conform to motor vehicle safety standard 201 for my Hhr. I was given an appointment for Friday, 04-18-08 at 10:00am to find out that supposedly they just installed the last one and didn't have the parts available for my vehicle. I spoke to another csr in the service dept. He didn't know how this happened but stated that enterprise had brought some Hhr 's in and they had fixed them. I am upset that they would install the air bag in enterprise cars and not at least keep the one for my scheduled appointment. How dangerous is this safety recall? the consumer stated the vehicle broke down within the first six months of ownership. The consumer stated the vehicle has lost power steering on two occasions. The speedometer was erratic and the vehicle would suddenly lunge forward while driving. . When the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, they stated it was a wiring problem. I purchased a 2007 Chevrolet Hhr last year. I still possess the window sticker from the manufacturer that states my vehicle received a 5 star frontal and side crash test rating from NHTSA. This morning I hear on the news that my vehicle failed your test horribly. I call Chevrolet recalls department and they will not officially recognize this recall until the end of March. I must drive around in an unsafe vehicle for more than a month with my 2 children because I bought a vehicle under your organization's recommendation for safety and because chevy does not want to fix it yet.
