Tl-the contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact smelled a burning odor and noticed smoke coming from under the hood without warning. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle overheated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number:15v701000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The mileage was unknown. Ss.

2 Vehicle Overheat problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2003

The vehicle over heated, however the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.
