Fall of 2008 noticed that my security light was coming on while I was driving and then when I would start my vehicle it would not start. Called my dealership and they told me it could be a few things and that if I tried to start my vehicle and it would not start to shut off the ignition and wait about 20 mins, winter of 2008 noticed that the temperature gauge was completely over running as hot as it could go. Brought it in to my Chevrolet dealer and they did a test on it and said it was fine and that just make sure if it started to have smoke from the hood to get it in. I then lost my speedometer and my turn signals and called yet again to see if there by any chance was a recall because it had become obvious to me that after searching on line that there seems to be some sort of defect with the computer board somewhere. Spoke with Chevrolet again to find out that there was no recall on this problem. Brought my vehicle in on March 4, 2009 and paid out of my pocket $1100. 95 to get my vehicle where I could trust it. My vehicle is a 2004 Chevrolet and when the problems started it had less than 44,000 miles on it.
I drove my 2004 Impala to the store, when I returned to my car it would not start! since I had just signed the papers on it I took it back to the dealer once it started. They put $500. 00 would of repair work into it but that did not fix the problem. It happened again just after my 3 month warranty expired. It used to it every so often until recently it has been doing it a few times a day.
The transmission shift sensor has had to be replaced 2times in the past 8 year due to it being faulty. I am not sure what kind of a safety issue this could be but it really starts just randomly jerking into gear for no reason, I had it replaced 8 years ago and now again it is getting done, on top of that the ignition pass lock sensor has been causing the car not to start and from everything I have research this is a problem on gm cars from 2000-2004, I filed several complaints on car complaints. Com and you can clearly see there is a problem. It's going to cost me over 1100. 00 to get theses two things fixed. I am very upset that chevy chooses to ignore these problems. Over the past 4 months I have been stranded over 10 times because my car just wouldn't start. It took the shop a few days to even diagnosis it because they had to get them both to act up due to the computer not storing codes. It seems to me there is some electrical issues with this year but gm chooses to ignore these complaints.
