Exterior Lighting Problems of Chevrolet Impala - part 1

First battery needed replaced every year then few weeks ago with no warning light or messages that battery was dieing the battery died again it was replaced then it started reving up and down on its own while driving so it goes faster then slower on its own when it feels like it. . Tps wont show tire pressure cant relearn tire positions now dash lights works usually then don't bright lights don't work now if automatic light control is on car shakes bad while breaking idles hard uses alot of gas now massive amount of heat coming off engine now with no dash light or guage saying temp is going up engine smells kind of bad after driving the car replaced transmission once couple years ago transmission maybe going out again the gear shift locks don't work it slips out of gear and into another gear effortlessly while driving and while parked without pressing the button to move the gear shift clicking or tapping noise started coming from front end only when turning left now does it while. Turning and sometimes while. Going straight and it's all still happening. . . Theres more but not going into all of it now. Dtc code listed 2days ago was listed b1000-00 electronic control unit. Searched google for code and got posts saying ecu needs replaced. . Updated or reprogrammed and some say bcu needs replaced. . Upgraded or reprogrammed. Each time I search the code I get a different reason for the code and different meaning. I have a 2006 chevy Impala ss 5. 3l v8 with police package. Car is available for inspection anytime.

Both taillights are leaking through a gasket in the taillights causing pooling of water in the majority of the trunk and through two layers of carpet. This is causing mold to grow in trunk.

I continuously have water leaking into the trunk of my 2017 Chevrolet Impala, specifically the spare tire compartment. I noticed through research that the issue has been recalled for select years, but not my vehicle year. If the issue is a known defect, this should be covered by the vehicle manufacturer. I am constantly having large amounts of water after rain and it is causing a moldy smell. I try to scoop water and then dry the area, however this is a repeat issue.

Driving at night my car headlights/instrument panel shut off on their own. I couldn’t see had to slam my brakes and pull over. Nothing I tried would turn them on. After almost a minute each time they just came back on theirselves. After googling this seems to be a known problem with chevy Impalas but no solution. This is highly dangerous. There were no warning lights that came on or anything. I was able to still drive the car, turn it on and off, etc but they wouldn’t come on until they did on their own. Thank goodness no one was behind me or something in front of me cause I was on a none lighted 55 mph road.

Side detection module malfunction. Causing electrical issues and error codes. When happening headlights turn on and off without control. Huge safety problem when driving at night!.

Multiple electric concerns. . . Airbag light, park assist, inop camera, and losing communication with bcm(?) found multiple communication codes for a variety of different modules. Found main source to be from the "side detection modules". Found fuse 62 blown underhood. Inspected side detection modules and found "a lot of corrosion" on both modules and connectors. Needs side detection kit. I purchased the used Impala on 12/19/2020 with 63,897 miles. The first time this issue was a concern was on 07/02/2022 at merit Chevrolet (mn). Mileage was at 83144 at that time. Diagnosis . . . Recommend both rear side detection modules and harness? according to special coverage adjustment #n172097060 it is known to be subject to "water intrusion"? this problem affects the whole electrical system which includes airbag function. Why does this safety concern have a limited coverage time? according to the "special coverage" document, there was an 80000 mile timeline? this appears to be an ongoing issue with this year, make, and model and my feeling is that a "special coverage" is denying the safety problem and putting it on the consumer?.

Side detection module has falled. . . Yes it is available for inspection. . . My wife got locked in the car on a 80 plus degree day and could not get out,doors would not open,trunk release would not open trunk so she could crawl there the back seat,sunroof would not open,power steering periodically feels like there is no power stearing, dash lights periodically shut off when driving. . Yes, morries forest lake Chevrolet and cadilac. Forest lake. Mn. . . No it has not been inspected by anyone but the dealer. . . There were no warning lights untill 51,000 miles or 8 months ago.

Passenger dim headlight keeps going out causing a unsafe issue. The plug gets hot and is damaged. A service bulletin was put out on this issue in 2014 so gm has known that this was a problem for a long time. I read several complaints on this issue and can't understand why a recall has not been issued unless gm thinks that it is safe to drive with one headlight. I know from experience that our state police department doesn't think that it is since I just got a warning because my headlight was out again.

Passenger side low beam headlight socket continues to burn out. This is a persistent problem with several general motor vehicles! I am amazed how many people mention when I google it. Gm has a service bulletin on it. This is a safety issue! obviously this is one of the two main lights used 90% of driving at night. Apparently there is a voltage drop according to owners who have checked this out. But what ever it is there is a lot of people who have this problem on several models and years of gm vehicles. Please check into this safety issue. Thank you!.

I pulled into my garage and cut of my car. After opening the door my seat wouldn't move forward like it always does. That's when my dash board gave me an error message stating that I need to roll my driver side window down. So, I did that but the next day my navigation system was off along with my radio and on-star system. So I drove to the gas station before heading to work, and when I tried to get in my car the power was off. I went under-hood to see if the battery was loose but it wasn't. So I shut the hood got back in the car and everything including my radio, gps, and on-star came back on. I headed out to work and that is when my car shut off while I was driving on the freeway at 70 mph and the error message said warning no power steering. I got to work safely and realized I left something in my car and that is when my car show signs that it was dead, but after manually getting into my car the power came back on. I also have issues with water getting into my trunk which is what the dealership told me was possibly causing the issues. As a disabled veteran this messes with my ptsd and financially I cant afford to keep paying for an issue that I see my 2014 Impala drivers have. I love the car but hate these issues. I need help with this car and the issues.

While driving oil pressure low stop engine comes on in my dic even though my oil is perfectly fine my rear turning signal is not flashing but is lit and working for everything else my temperature gauge shorts out at times even after I replaced the sensor passenger air bag off even with passenger inside NHTSA recall number 16v507 NHTSA recall number 14v355 I believe the true problem is the bcm the door actuators are faulty.

I went to the store and came out to leave. I attempted to start my car and the radio came on, lights in the car flashed a couple of times and then I tried again. Then it started making a clicking sound.

While driving 30 mph on city streets going straight with a slight incline the a/c and radio powered on and off several times. When stopped at a stop light the doors unlocked and "service stabilitrak" flashed on and off the dash, the radio powered down, and the a/c turned off. After a few second everything went back to normal. No check engine lights came on at all. This is not the first time this has happened.

Takata recall my intake manifold have a recall on it and I would like to bring it in to get fixed. I bought the car from an auction. Also my fuel flow does not work.

I was driving and lady came to a complete stop at rail road track and I couldn't stop I ran into the back of her.

The trunk of the car leaks around the twilights causing the twilights to short out and water to get into the trunk.

All my lights inside and outside flicker. Also panel lights door lights overhead lights map lights.

I started my vehicle and instantly the passenger side blind spot indicator light came on. Even after I shut off my vehicle; the indicator light stayed on. It would change in brightness occassionally. I was hoping that it would not drain my battery over night as I'm not a mechanic. I checked the sensors on the bumper for cleanliness.

Takata recall when going to fasten seat belt it will not fasten you have to mess with it a couple times before it will latch and sometimes will unlatch while driving. Takata recall the driver front blinker bulb has been replaced multiple times but after buying numerous bulbs it still will not work. Takata recall when turning the wheel left when I slow down to go around a curve it tightens up like the steering pump is going out but it only does it while slowing down to turn, also while driving its like the vehicle is all over the road swaying around.

First item,driving stability light came on twice how to go to dealership for repair. Second item, passenger side low beam light issue, replace bulb three times can't identify problem with the connection or wiring issue. To replace bulb, requires removal of front end bumper in order to complete project. Problem occurred while night driving on highway.

The wiring used is tasty to squirrels and my right hand blinker wiring has been chewed up twice now, fixing it has cost $1000. 00 each time. Vehicle was stationary parked in my driveway at home.

Side object detection system failed 1st (2/2018). See attachment from engineering at my former employer (gmpg). 2nd issue: dash illumination goes back & forth from normal to extremely bright, dimming inop. 3rd issue safety. . . When vehicle is started, error messages for airbag, side object detection, front & rear camera-hvac completely inop. Radio inop-begins working after electric faceplate lifted on radio. Hvac & airbag remain inop. Asked dealership about side object issue- they have no info on this. Additional problems started 2/13/2019. When starting with rke, side object lights in mirror illuminated sitting in a parking lot. They have not illuminated while driving in over a year. No heat or defrost working-big safety issue in winter weather.

While driving, several functions in the car will turn off. Functions include heating/ cooling system, lights (dashboard lights), doors lock/ unlock and collision systems turns off. I've researched online and found several other customers have had the same issues ranging back to 2018. I've taking my car to a gm dealership and found that the sensor malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. I also found the sensor is on back order, which makes me believe this is a larger issue than I thought and some one needs to investigate further. Driving along the highway and several security features start to turn off is dangerous.

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Impala. While driving approximately 50-55 mph, the headlamps failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to big bend Chevrolet Buick (located at 1424 n young blvd, chiefland, FL 32626, (352) 493-4263) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to drive the vehicle to see if the failure would recur. The contact did not heed the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

When driving sudden jerks of extra power then sometimes lower power/ alot of clicking when im not in the car and everytime I open the door or turn off the car. Lighta flicker when rolling the windows up or down and just when they want ro.

Right front head light low beam wire harness burns completely up. I also found the same situation on 3 other 2014 Impala limited while looking for a replacement harness in two different salvage yards. I think this is significant.

The sensors for the blind spot indicators are susceptible to erosion and gunk-invasion, causing the blind spot indicators to quit working. Presently, the drivers side indicator doesn't work at all, and the passenger side indicator stays on all the time, even when the car is parked in my garage. My Chevrolet dealership tells me to replace the box containing the wires for the sensors is $500 per side, and both have quit working, and that the replacement part is the same as the original, which means this will happen again. I am told the box containing the electronics for the sensors is not sealed properly, and that my dealership has replaced a large number of them on these vehicles.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Impala. The contact inquired about recall. The contact was informed that there were no recalls on vehicle. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds the blind spot monitoring system failed to work. The side activation system warning indicated light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer schoner Chevrolet located at 720 w maple st, hartville, OH 44632 (330) 267-9263 where diagnosed that the blind side sensor needed to be replaced however, the parts were backed ordered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but no further was provided. The failure mileage was 44. 000. Ap.

Daytime running lights have failed several times. Passenger side was replaced twice under warranty now car has 600 miles over 36k bumper to bumper warranty dealer will not replace under warranty. Light broke from bracket from water at car wash.

The lighting on my instrument panel fades or disappears so that I can't see information like my odometer reading. On June 8, 2017 the problem was so bad that I couldn't even see the light that shows which gear I shifted into. On June 12, 2017 the information was faded but readable if examined carefully. I had a similar occurrence in March while traveling. All three problems occurred on bright, sunny days when the vehicle was hot (from driving or from the temperature). On June 12, 2017 I noted that, when I pulled my key from ignition, the key had gotten so hot that it almost burned me. All three times the vehicle was stationary when the problem began. It had been parked and when the key was inserted parts of the instrument displays did not light up as they should have. For the March occurrence, the vehicle was turned off and after a waiting period it was turned back on and the displays reappeared. For the June 8th occurrence, the display gradually reappeared. For the June 12th occurrence, the displays appeared dim for my entire 20 mile drive.

Chevy Impala lights don't work at night daytime lights work off and on high beams at night only.
