Multifunction switch randomly fails to turn on low beam in motion and stopped. To operate the vehicle with some lights on at night, left hand has to hold down the high beam as it fails to stay on. Steering wheel must then be operated with only when hand. Replacing the the multi function switch fixes the problem until it fails again. Averaging 6 months between failures and have replaced the switch 3 times already.

On Friday, November 18, 2016 at approximately 5:20 a. M. I was parking my car in a center city parking garage. I was approximately 2 car lengths from the parking spot. I was backing my car into the spot. The car was stopped and I removed my safety belt and lowered the window. I put the car in reverse and depressed the accelerator to proceed into the lined parking spot. The car proceeded at a high rate of speed into a concrete wall. There were no obstructions and the accelerator was not fully depressed when this occurred. I immediately took my foot off of the accelerator and hit the brake but the brake did not respond since this all occurred in roughly in seconds and approximately 20 feet in length. Upon impact a smoke filled the cabin area. I hit my head against the headrest and slightly into the steering wheel. Another parking patron saw this all play out and came to my aid. It was a horrific incident. I am thankful and lucky to be alive. It was as if the car acted on it's own. After putting the car in park all of the lights in the car and the flasher were on. Onstar notified me to ask if I was ok. I explained to her what had happened. After two hours no one came to my aid despite being told someone was dispatched. The battery went dead and it was at that time I contacted aaa to have the car towed out of the garage. It is currently in "brendan's collision, ltd, 210 w. Hillcrest avenue, havertown, PA. I contacted gm immediately after the accident and they took a report. The car was purchased in July 2016 and had 3021 miles on it. It was surreal and I was fully aware of what was happening during this whole ordeal.

My drivers passenger side headlamp assembly leaks every time it rains or when the vehicle gets washed. I've been stopped twice by law enforcement and given a warning about my headlamp being out. I've replaced the head light twice at $57. 00 each time. I can't afford to keep replacing this light. Gm wants over $1500 to replace the headlamp assembly. I don't feel I should have to pay for this replacement. Cadillac & equinox are having the same problem. I never in all of the gm vehicles I have ever owned had this kind of a problem. I feel gm should have to pay for the replacement. I was on the highway when it happened. This can be very dangerous. Driving without proper visibility. When it's raining, or while deer are running all over the place.

My turning signals work on and off all of a sudden. The first time it happened I was on the freeway and was attempting to get over and my right turning signal wouldn't work but the left turning signal worked fine. Then after a day or two the right turning signal would work but then the left turning signal won't work. Then all of a sudden they would both work then both stop working. Now a month has passed and neither one of them work most the time, but will work for a hot second and then stop working. This is only for the rear turning signal though the front turning signal have always worked properly and still do.

Airbag service message and airbag light goes on and off. Paid 269. 36 4/22/2016 so it would pass state inspection. Light stayed off for about two months, now it is giving us the same problem. Returned to dealer, said cost to repair with new harness in the drivers seat would be around 250. 00 more. The general has a huge problem here.
My back lights and dashboard does not work.

I bought my 2004 Chevrolet Impala (3800 v6 engine) new, which has now less than 12,000 miles, & I drove primarily for running errands. One month ago, its body computer memory went bonkers. The day after I returned after xmas, I went to get grocery. As the car was normal the previous day, I did not expect any problem. However, upon finishing shopping 30 minutes later, I found the car (1) honking non-stop, (2) its dome lights could not be turned off, (3) the ¿door ajar¿ warning jingled all the way ¿ even though I stopped by roadside to ensure all doors were closed. On top of that, (4) the turning signals (both left & right) stopped working. About 5 minutes after returning home and locking up the car, (5) the honking/dome lights/door warning started again. Although I reset the control panel, the problems did not go away. I therefore took the car to the dealer, but their mechanic could not find the causes offhandedly, and an appointment was made to thoroughly check the car with diagnostic instruments. However, on the day of the appointment (1/26/16), everything was normal again, and diagnostic tests could not find anything wrong by the dealer. Today (2/12/16), the turning signals malfunctioned again briefly and worked again, but (6) the instrument panels were all erroneous, with readings of fuel, coolant temperature, tachometer above limits - even when the car is stationary. I expect that it is a matter of time that (7) the speedometer will also go defective. At that time, the dash board will have to be replaced as a whole, costing more than $500 dollars. Obviously, the computer system is not working right. I should add that my car has been maintained regularly with the dealer. I hope my report will bring NHTSA¿s attention to the above parts/workmanship problems of gm.
The Chevrolet Impala I own has had major problems about a month after I bought the car. . . . The whole electrical area in the front has went haywire on me. . . . I cannot signal, or turn my bright lights on at any time. . . . Plus, it will not start for me when I need it to, I always have to get a jump from someone, & that even takes between 10-20 minutes. . . . The place that I bought it from, the repairmen cannot fix it right for me, it is not fair to pay all this money for my car, which will not work right. . . I have not been able to use my signals for a very long time now, it is very, very frustrating to me. . . . I have been stranded on the streets, the highway, even at work after my shift, it has even stopped on me while taking my kids to & from school. . . .

Question: are these new police cars without lights safe in high speed chases? I live in nyc NY and see that we have these nypd cars without lights on the top of the cars there. Yes, it is a regular chevy Impala police car but without the lights on top of the police car which are there when cars are in persuit or in chases or something. I think the only lights that the nypd car has would be like in the front motor. Wow, they also have highway patrol cars with the nypd which do regular duties with the car without the lights on top of the car there. Wow, is that car especially the nypd highway patrol car to do chases without those lamps on top. Wow, that is odd, yes, nypd highway patrol has those cars without lights on top of them doing regular patrols on the highways there. Safe for chases and all of that?(reply by e mail).
The headlamps do not illuminate the road sufficiently to see oncoming features safely. Based on my research, I'm not the first one to complain about this issue.
Sometimes when im driving and im trying to pass someone and I go to use my signal light they do not work then I can go down the road they will work plus my lights wont go on bright without shutting off.
Come on now, I see the complaints on a bunch of things that is wrong with my 2004 Impala. An there is more than one person saying it. There seems like there is a serious problem here that you guys seem to be ignoring an refusing to fix. I think its about time for some people to get together and file some kind of lawsuit against you guys if you don't address these issues. Now for the same complaints for my Impala, number 1 it does not like to start sometimes and then I have to wait 20 mins to an hour just for it to finally start. Number 2 the security light stays on. Number 3 the gages to my speedometer and gas move all over the place and doesn't give me the accurate reading. Other experiences I've had noticed is that my brights don't always like to shut off the first time, the car pulls mainly to the right, but also back and forth. And all the buttons and light to my radio works but no sound comes threw. I haven't experienced any of the other things in the complaints yet but these ones I have an they need to be addressed like I said before something is done about it by the people. Thank you.

High beam switch has been broken, very common problem when google searching. No one fixes it as it is prohibitively expensive. Cannot use high beams and many people adjust the low beams higher as a solution, which is bad for everyone. Should be a recall?.
Interior lights won't shut off when they should.

While driving on interstate 78 at 60 mph I attempted to switch from low beam to high beam. Asi did that, I lost all lights. I jiggled the high beam switch and the lights came back on. This has happened several times since then.
This was our first time driving the car at night and we were on a country road with no lines. We knew there was a stop sign there somewhere the sign was partially hidden by a tree branch but we could see neither because the lights did not reflect high enough and to each side (high beams and low beams did not make much difference)) and we drove across the intersection and into a ditch resulting in minor damage to the bottom of the front bumper. Fortunately there was no traffic coming on the cross street. Since then we have done minimal night driving but always have had trouble seeing on roads with no lines and especially seeing to make both right and left turns. This is very dangerous and disappointing as we like the car overall but we cannot drive it at night. We thought the problem was with us but now we know that it is the car .
Had the car under three weeks and head lights are flickering the dashboard light flickers and the engine is making a ticking sound. The tire pressure light came on after three days of financing the car.
My 2013 Chevrolet Impala's electrical system failed. There were no lights, radio, air conditioner, gauge lights, power steering or power brakes. The engine remained running as did the transmission. This lasted about five minutes. (there are no places to stop on our roads. ) the first light to come on was the warning about loss of stabilitrac and the second was about air bags, the third was about uneven tire pressure. Eventually the gauge lights, air conditioner and radio came on followed by the power steering and brakes. I turned it off in park and then turned it on again. The stabilitrac and air bag warnings were still on, but the rest of the lighting and electrical seemed to be working. Eventually the stabilitrac and air bag warnings stopped. The next day everything came on as normal. The airbag for the passenger seat never is on since I bought it in January.

My blinker switch and high beam doesnt work at all you have to mess with the flasher button if you want to single a turn. Other times it works but still no high beams its been worked on lights changed everything still nothing. I was told a factory defect but heard nothing on this. I carry my small children and my wife in this car and I almost got rearended a few times so if its a factory defect they should fix it. I heard other owners with the same complaint so its not just parts wore out it was no good in the begining then they should pay for it since the fault is at the factory.
Exterior lights 133,000 miles lights went out on my 2000 Impala in may 2014. This is what happened. I had fractured my left rib at home and was driving to the emergency room at mercy hospital when I hit my bright lights, because the road was dark, and all of my lights when out. I pulled over and kept clicking the lights lever and it would go from no lights to bright lights with each click. I got the low beam to finally come back on after several back and forth clicks. The police stopped me that night because I had to use my right hand to click the lights, which is on the left side of the car, which caused me to weave a little. He also observed me pull off the road for a minute, to get lights back on. He said he thought I had been drinking but saw that I was hurt, 65 years old, and I explained how my lights had just gone out on me while I was driving to the emergency room and I had to keep clicking the high beam, low beam, back and forth to make low beam come back. He saw that I was hurt and couldn’t use left arm and he saw how I had to lean over with right hand to keep clicking switch to get my low beams to come back on, keeping in mind, I’m in severe pain. I was able to get low beam back on while the officer was standing there and he saw the problem and understood and told me to be careful. No ticket. I don’t use my high beams anymore. Also, I have no lights in the cluster, I can’t tell my speed, I use my phone to see how fast I’m going and then set the auto drive. I can’t see the gas gage, but the low fuel light works, it will come on and no indoor lights on top of doors. However the red security light on the dashboard works. When I open car door it’s completely dark, I have to use a flashlight or my phone to see or look for things.
Every time it rains my entire vehicle floor is flooded. My radio has stopped working and my dashboard lights flicker. I have been researching and there are several models with this problem from 2002 to 2005. This happens often and can eventually lead to electrical problems. I pay a lot if money for this vehicle and still have a ways to go before I am done paying for it. I have 3 children that depend in thus car along with myself if there are so many people with this problem this is definitely a defect and should be recalled.
I began experiencing problems with my turning signals. Approximately in April they began to not work automatically when instructed to use. In recent months they make noise as they are instructed to be used and well not function properly. Also, the emergency lights are inoperable at this time.
The headlamps on this vehicle are sub-standard. Visibility is very poor on both low and high beams. I refrain from driving this car at night.
Car hard to steer and turn, hit a concrete barrier damage the left front bumper, light, body frame on left side of the car.
2004 chevy Impala loses low beam headlamps due to an issue with the multipurpose switch located on the steering column. After doing a google search found hundreds of others with the same issue. After losing low beam headlamps after a few months high beam lamps are also not working.
