When my side detection monitoring system failed a few months ago I took it to a local dealer. They responded telling me that, unfortunately, the design for this sensor module/harness is completely flawed. The sensors are located in the rear bumper, with plastic housing. There is no weather protection, even though these are directly behind the tires and are exposed to all weather - plus I live in IL so we're talking rain, snow, salt, etc. It's two sensors and the harness. I couldn't afford the $1200 repair, so I figured I would just have to deal with the loss of the safety feature and ignore the warning light. Last week, all of my warning lights came on - theft detection, front camera, airbag, stabilitrack, etc. My windshield wipers, turn signals, locks and headlights were all going haywire, and at one point while driving all of my gauges went to zero (no speed limit, rpm, gas gauge, anything) and my heat went out, turn signals stopped working and my headlights went out. Immediately took it to another dealership hoping that maybe my battery (factory original)/wiring might be the cause. No such luck. As it turns out the side detection modules are now corrupting all sensors and electrical systems including my air bags! the dealership confirmed that the side detection modules had failed and were causing the chaos that is occurring with all of my other warning systems, and that my air bags no longer worked. My air bags don't work because of this, nevermind the extreme danger in having a system go haywire while I'm driving! I'm at nearly 100,000 miles so I'm well past any warranty that would cover this, but I have been reading forums and carcomplaints and it turns out that this is a really common issue. The cost of the diagnostics, cost of the repair, and anticipated costs of subsequent repairs is ridiculous considering it is a known design flaw.

When I received my brand new car from the dealer, before I even drove it, there was excess moisture inside of both headlights. This moisture can diminish the headlight and turn signal function, and corrode the electrical components. The moisture is an ongoing problem. Working with dealer to fix this if possible.
Turn signals work intermittently. And just in the middle of the way you see that your turn signals do not work and sometimes they work!.

My turn signals went out. Will not work and idk what's going on but I have read many same complaints the net.
The heater completely stopped working but was finally able to get the passenger side to work (it has dual temp. Controls). The turn signals work just when they want to and the windshield wipers do the same. They just stop working with no warning what so ever. Have taken it to several different places to have it looked at but nobody can determine the cause of these problems. However, upon the research I've done since these problems began I've found I'm not the only one experiencing these same issues yet there has been no kind of recalls to fix it.
The turn signals stop working on its own. Then started working again. The signal does not work all the time.
At the time my chevy had 105,000 miles on it the transmission went out, so I got it rebuilt it hasn't quite been a year a now the new transmission is stalling and not shifting correctly at times. Also when using my turn signal to turn just as the wheel straightens up and the turn signal turns off it triggers the high beams to come on, this only happens if it's cold out or raining.

Turn signals come but do not blink. Hazzard signal comes on but does not blink.
My turn signals work intermittently. Sometimes not at all and sometimes have to activate flashers on and off. Sometimes lites won't turn all the way off when I park they will make a chiming sound and I will turn them on and off til it stops.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Impala. While parked, the contact noticed that the headlights were not functioning. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The technician stated that the module in the turn signal assembly would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.
2002 chevy Impala: turn signal randomly stops functioning: sometimes when lever is pulled signal will function then just stop, other times signal does not work at all when lever is pulled. Pressing hazard button several times returns turn signal functionality temporarily. This is a safety issue! an internet search of "2002 Impala turn signal" on google shows that this is a common problem.
On my 2001 Impala, the turn signals sometime fail to operate - I have found that I can turn on the emergency flashers and then disengage them to restart normal turn signals. Instrument lights also dim at times making it impossible to read speed or any other instruments - problems do not necessarily occur together but can and it does at times - random in problem occurrence I also have a gas gauge problem where it will read full when it is not and show different amounts. Now it is starting to shut off without warning it will however restart. But sometimes shutdown after a couple of restarts before it stays running. This has occurred over the past several months and appears to be getting worse; mileage approx 105,000.

I have a 2002 chevy Impala. About a year ago the turn signals intermittently stopped working. I was told the multifunctional wand would cost $500. 00 (not includ. Labor) and there is no after market part. My mechanic could not confirm the problem though. All else on the wand works. I feel this problem is connected with my air/heat running and/or loss of power. This is very dangerous and almost caused several near rear-end incidences. I am afraid to have my daughter in the back seat. Is there a recall for this item?.
2000 Chevrolet Impala. Turn signals quit working intermittently, will start if hazards are pushed.

The VIN was unavailable. The current mileage was approximately 144,000. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. While making a left turn at 10 mph, the turn signal indicator failed to illuminate. The failure occurred intermittently when making either a left or right turn. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop and they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle would have to be taken to the dealer for further inspection. The failure mileage was 69,000 and current mileage was 69,700.
Turn signals operate intermittently with switch in either position. Hazards work fine. You have to operate hazards to get turn signals to work. When turn signals are inoperative, the driver cannot use them to signal intent to turn that could result in a crash.
The turn signals/ hazard warning flashers work intermittently. The brake lights do not work when the turn signal is activated when they are not working. This is only on the side that the turn signal is turned to and this only occurs when the turn signals are not working. They seem to work better when it is cool and they seem to fail more often when it is warm or hot. Frequently the turn signals seem to work early in the day and they quit as the day gets warmer. There does not seem to be any other correlation to when they work. Some mornings they do not work and then after I park they might or might not work when the car is restarted. When the turn signals work normally there is no problem. When they do not work the brake light on the side that should be signaling quits working when the turn signals are activated but not working. When they are not working the brake lights do not work correctly if the turn signal is activated.
The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the turn signal works periodically. The turn signal module was replaced, but still works intermittently. The current mileage was 137,000 and failure mileage was 120,000. Updated 07/29/08 updated 07/29/08.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. Six months ago, while driving at any speed, the contact observed that the turn signal control mechanism failed. The turn signals do not work on a consistent basis and was a safety concern. While making a turn in traffic, the turn signals do not always work properly. The failure is an ongoing occurrence. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 62,000 and current mileage was 78,000.
The turn signal fails to work sporadically (starting 8 weeks ago).
Turning signal did not come on. This occurs randomly putting my life in danger in many occasions.
I have a couple of problem with the 2001 Chevrolet Impala that I recently purchased used. As far as I know using carfax to check there have been no accidents or anything that would logically cause the problems. Several mechanics have told me they couldn't find any obvious previous damage. When driving the turn signals will work completely at random for a short amount of time. I did not get a traffic ticket or had an accident. I had no idea what fixed this problem. Also, the car will not start on occasion. Normally, if I waited 10 - 60 minutes and tried it again it will eventually start. Vehicle left me stranded for an unknown amount of time. I was told by my mechanic that it will cost about $400 to fix this problem ,and that only a Chevrolet dealer could do it.
Turn signals do not work all the time.
Turn signals not working with no apparent reason. This issue will happen and then start working and then quit again. Nothing has been able to help the issue.
The turn signals do not work. They cut out on you at the few times that they come on. This is dangerous.
