Lt model. Headlights are extremely inadequate such that they represent a hazard when driving on unlit roads. They send forward a focused beam with no light covering the sides or overhead. This makes it very difficult to turn on to a side road because there is no illumination of the road you are turning onto until you have actually made the turn. It is also easy to miss exit ramps. Overhead signs and signs at the sides of exits are usually unreadable. The low beams actually have a shutter covering the top of the bulb (I guess that's what makes them low beams) so objects much above the level of the top of the car are not illuminated. When driving on hilly country roads, the cutoff on top makes the approaching hill just about invisible. When driving in the rain, it is nearly impossible to see lane markings, etc. The car also does not offer fog lights as an option so there is no supplemental lighting to alleviate the problem. I strongly urge a recall to either change the headlight design or to install supplementary lighting such as fog lights to better illuminate the pavement and the areas to the sides of the roadway.

I was driving at approximately 40 mph on a straight roadway with brights on when the headlights went out. This occurred in the early morning while it was still dark out. The parking lights remained on. Pulling the headlight switch on the left side of dash to the "manual on" position did not help. I turned on the fog lights and returned home using the fog lights only. Upon arriving home, I was able to get the headlights to work again by switching to high beam and back. This has been an intermittent problem for this vehicle in the past month. The multifunction switch felt like it was fully engaged and gave an audible click when pulled. I have ordered a replacement multifunction switch to repair this.

I was on my way to work at at 6:30 am on 9-24-13 when my headlights went off. It was pitch dark and I was totally without headlights. I was able to turn on the fog lights this car has, but it was still hard to see. I have noticed the lights seemed dimmer than what I consider normal. I made an appointment with a local mechanic. He cannot find the reason for the dim lights or the lights going off by themselves. This is very dangerous and I am surprised a recall has not been issued to address this very serious safety issue. When I conducted a google search I noticed that this is a common problem with a number of gm vehicles. It is a wonder I did not crash my vehicle as I never expected my light to go out as I traveled down a highway.
In may 2012 my headlights on my car started to not come on when needed. Then they would come on 10-30 minutes after the car was started. The headlights started "flashing" while the car was driving. The headlights went completely out after about a month. I have had the dimmer switch replaced, and the lights are not working at all now. The bright barely come on and I have to hold the stick down the whole time I want to use them. Sometimes if I need to drive a night I use the fog lights which have recently decided not to work at all. This is the worst car I have ever owed. I have had plenty of issues with this car on other issues.

My husband was driving at night at approximately 55 mph, with my dim headlamps on. Without any warning the headlamps went out, he went off the right side of the road way to avoid any problems. After checking he did have high beams and fog lights yet. He proceeded home on high beams. The low beams never have come back on.
Recurring problem: when clicking from low beam to high beam or high/low using the turn signal arm the headlights go out unexpectedly. I've been forced to travel with the fog lights on to insure that I have some vision when switching high/low. Extremely dangerous to be traveling at highway speed and losing your headlights!
I have found over 30 similar complaints on-line without to much searching effort. Many of the respondents have said that repair/replacement of the turn signal arm runs about $700. In visiting with my dealer he has indicated he has not heard of this problem--but my research indicates it occurs often?
the most recent incident occurred in late Dec. 2009. We are hesitant to use this vehicle after dark due to the problem.
